Complete novice here. I aim to get fit and lean, no bodybuilding, but feel lost about what to eat and how to work out. Despite reading the sticky, I'm overwhelmed by the information and terminologies. I'm 5'7" and weigh 75kg, preferring home workouts as the nearest gym is 30 minutes away. Can this video guide me in the right direction?

If not, should I get an online personal trainer to show me the ropes or something? Also, I'm trying intermittent fasting, meaning that I completely skip breakfast (wakeup at 8am, eat eggs at 1pm), is that recommended?

Not gonna watch the video. Go to /fat/, lose weight and do whatever workouts you can at home. For your body the diet is 90% and working out maybe 10%
I don't get it
What the frick do you not get? Go on the /fat/ thread, figure out losing weight and do some pushups
In all seriousness literally just this:
No point trying to min/max and figure out every little thing before you've even started literally just exercise and you'll figure out what works for yourself
Not op but what is /fat/?
fat loss general, can find tips for dropping the kilos, meal recommendations, can ask questions about whatever fat loss related issues you have etc
Almost quads.
But where do I go for /fat/? Am I moronic?
IST/fat/ is a 404
>How effective is exercise
???
Compared to going to the gym and using proper equipment...
This is what I was asking
Yes you can do do this at home
>Compared to going to the gym and using proper equipment...
let me guess, you need more
>needing a personal trainer to show you the ropes
no need. here you go
I just want to save time, and considering my tendencies, I might compromise my workout technique without proper guidance.
Eat healthy non processed foods, stop sitting on your ass, ride a bicycle instead of driving and do your push ups. If you continue to post on your computer all day yoy will never make it.
not watching the vid but yes working out is effective regardless of if it's at the gym or not (doing something is infinitely better than doing nothing)
I'd recommend doing a simple circuit of 10 push-ups (on your toes with a straight back), 10 inverted rows (put a broomstick over two chairs and pull yourself up to touch your chest), & 10 Bulgarian split squats (one legged squats with your other leg on a chair behind you to stabilise yourself), start with doing it once and over time work up to doing it 3-5 times
use YouTube videos to make sure your form is good by filming yourself and comparing it to the videos
and as the other commenter said, you're literally never going to get anywhere if your diet doesn't change, and there's only one that actually works - counting calories. intermittent fasting can be cool to avoid traps like binge eating at night, but just get MyFitnessPal and track every meal, make sure you're eating mostly good foods (chicken/beef/eggs/cottage cheese/veggies/etc), and you'll lose weight in no time if you accurately track your calories
Thanks
For reference, this is the type of physique that I want to achieve.
dips, pull ups and cardio

this might help. You should spend the 30$ to get a pull up bar or find a park close by with one, but really just buy one. Another thing to consider, especially as a beginner: if you ever find yourself with some free time and you have the option to A) train suboptimally(maybe) like the moron you are and B) watch some videos to figure out how to train like a boss, A is ALWAYS, ALWAYS, ALWAYS the best option
working out from home is great but u need to at least have a barbell , 2 dumbbells , some wights and a bench.
that's pretty much all u need to have a decent physique.
consistency is the most important part.
yes
dont worry about intermitting fasting unless thats what you want to do but if you get hungry, eat and eat whole foods like red meat, poultry, fish with carbs (veggies, grains, complex carbs)
dont over eat and drink enough water -
for workouts at home, pushups, squats, get a pullup - dip tower and do chinups, pullups and dips - lastly you should add in some cardio and stretches
no gym needed, also don't buy a bunch of exercise shit for an easy dopamine hit, earn it by feeling sore every day.
the best advice is to keep a realistic and easy habit for working out. don't bother learning bodybuilder shit. just do pushups whenever you have time. you can easily do 100 pushups every day if you space it out through the day. that will help your chest(breasts) and arms a lot. lunges are also good and easy to do.
for diet, cut anything that has "added sugar". but don't torture yourself with a clean diet, eat normal but remember CICO(calories in calories out). caffeine is good but energy drinks are bad. try coffee.
vid gay is on TRT(you probably should be too, seriously, ask your doc), resistance bands are hella gay, buy a kettlebell if anything.
>exercises
Look into body-weight exercises. Push ups, planks, squats, bridge, crunches etc. Complement them by incorporating what you have at home. Bathtub lends itself to dips, luggage can be used for bent over rows. Do the ones that you're motivated to do.
>gear
As others recommended. Pull up bar. It's comparatively cheap, compact and works. Get a good one. Yoga matt in case you have tile floors.
