the first 24h are just caloric deficit, nothing special, but if you are active, as soon as you reach the 48h mark you get into ketosis and start burning fat very aggressively.

That's actually pretty reasonably accurate.
Assuming a base metabolic rate of 2500 calories, 1 lb of fat contains 3500 calories. In 72 hours you'd consume about 7500 calories ÷ 3500 = 2.14 lbs of fat which is close enough to a kg that it is splitting hairs to otherwise.
Any weight loss over that would of course be water.

I am considering an extended fast to rid myself of the last few pounds (I'm already lean and want to get shredded) wondering if the shred gains from this are maintainable or if metabolism will downregulate and result in vicious cycle.
Anyone have experience ridding the last 5 pounds and achieving shreds with fasting?
thanks bro. I'm planning on staying low carb for at least a few days after so hopefully that'll help stabilize it. may even protein sparing modified fast afterwards

you gain back the water weight (7-10 lbs in my experience from fasting) but you keep the fat off
