More or less, I've heard similar things with high volume pushups, after a while it's more a cardio thing and you're not building muscle anymore. But most of us will use this to not do them, rather than get to those points of diminishing returns. You can do variations to make them more difficult though
Yes. They could have just used ab roller roll outs but they didn't want additional equipment, which is stupid since the ACFT was already an equipment based test. Roll outs can be counted, you can throw a weight vest into it, you can do variations on the exercise, and the equipment costs $8 and can be fit into a small bag.
The plank was a knee jerk reaction to the possibility of having to boot women from the army for simply being biologically female.
Last year I did weighted planks ALOT and I progressed to 40kg on my back for 4 sets of 2min. After that it became fricking annoying to use a band to tie two 20kg plates together and haul them on my back. I definitely got some good ab development as a result but now I like to do more diverse ab routines.
if you squeeze muscles during plank, then 1 minute is enough and you will always feel something, but you're too busy with looking at timer instead of doing a proper work
it's impossible to do a plank wrong when your body is straight, the fact you maintaining that position engages the muscles
Your posts sounds like copium for not being able to do more than 1 minute
>vacuum stomach >squeeze quads and glutes >happens by itself with plank position bro
im not continuing this conversation since you just showed your low iq

I prefer hanging leg raises, and decline situps while holding some weight. Sometimes some russian twists with weight. Side raises with weight on back days to hit the obliques.
Not at all, you are putting isometric tension in the same muscles for an equivalent amount of time and heavier load, the only difference is that you are also actively using your arm, shoulder and chest muscles.
I used to do 2:30 minutes very single day, did it for like 6 months. Now I'm lazy as shit, and it's winter here. I'll get back to it when summer's approaching
10-15 minutes when I last checked, but stopped doing it because it's fricking boring. I have more fun with weighted jackknife or toes to bar or just doing parkour vaults.
Best I've done on the ACFT was 3:30. Hate these frickers. Bring back leg tucks!
the world record is 9 hours
I don't plan to challenge the world record any time soon
come on bruh that's insanely below average
cant help it boss, im a fatty trying to lose weight and thats my max right now
godspeed, tubby bro
>I don't plan to challenge the world record any time soon
3 sets of 30 second knee planks, take it or leave it
anything above 1 minute is pointless
Is this anon correct?

no this is a cope for fatties who can't even do the 3 minute plank
Yes a plank becomes pointless when you find it easy, but none of the people saying this are sleeping through 10 minute planks
Yes
If it hurts then it's effective, that's how workouts work

Like what if you don't mind me asking?
I usually do weighted situps but I feel it usually in my lower back more than my abs.

yes you're supposed to squeeze your abs
add weight on top of you
Planks are pointless in general
However long Auri - Night 13 is.
Last time I tried I did 4 minutes, and I was sore everywhere because of the workout the day prior
35:25. I hold the record at my gym.
Planks fricking suck. They take too long to be effective and you could be doing more time efficient exercises in the meantime.
what do you usually do?
I prefer hanging leg raises, and decline situps while holding some weight. Sometimes some russian twists with weight. Side raises with weight on back days to hit the obliques.
hanging leg raises is godlike exercise. if you can't do it you can start with parallel bars
Why would you bother going passed a minute? Seems like a waste. Add weight at that point.
thread reminded me and just did a 3 minute plank as hadn't done one for a week.
Dam you lose the ability to do these fast
why not just do weighted pushups?
push ups are a different muscle set really
Not at all, you are putting isometric tension in the same muscles for an equivalent amount of time and heavier load, the only difference is that you are also actively using your arm, shoulder and chest muscles.
unless you can do a 5 minute plank your opinions on if planks are worth doing or not are meaningless, they are worth doing for YOU
weight vest
plank
simple as
5.391247 × 10^-44 seconds
i just do the ab wheel now bros. thats my ab workout
if you can do a plank for more than 10 seconds you are not doing it correctly
>planking for 30 minutes
I bet you didn't even engage your abs.
3 minutes and 10 seconds, homie
Why tf he wrote "minutes" after 10? It implies 3 sets of 10 mins just 3:10 is obvious and clear.
2mins
2 min ez, next week 0220, after that 0240, after that 0300 and so on
I used to do 2:30 minutes very single day, did it for like 6 months. Now I'm lazy as shit, and it's winter here. I'll get back to it when summer's approaching
>2:30 minutes
Holy shit, stop writing like a moron. Leave it 2:30 or specify 2 min 30 s.
it's correct tho
>2:30 minutes
OK, how do you read it? "Two thirty minutes"? So is it two or thirty minutes?
10-15 minutes when I last checked, but stopped doing it because it's fricking boring. I have more fun with weighted jackknife or toes to bar or just doing parkour vaults.
a little less than a minute
I just add more weight once I can plank up to 60 seconds, I have capped at 27.5kg for 55 seconds and tomorrow I'm going for the minute
this means nothing if you can't do a basic plank for 3 minutes
I can hold a plank infinitely. I won a competition once holding it for 8 minutes, could have gone longer but I got bored. Plank is a meme
Beats me by 3:10
