I usually do 5 sets of 5 but only one really heavy set. Yesterday it was 135x5, 225x5, 275x5, 295x5 and then 225x5 to finish. The 295 set was hard to complete which is my goal for the heavy set.
I took two years off of the gym and am trying to build back to 405x5 right now.
>How many sets and reps of deadlifts in one workout are too much?
Depends on multiple factors like >how fast you want to recover >how good are you recovered from last squat/dl >goals and strength levels
You could use the starting strength linear program as a backbone for your strength training. if you are novice you get away with more weekly sets than advanced.
You could've googled this question you moronic homosexual
You should aim for 3x5 simply because it is what I do
>high-top sneakers
would be pretty awful to lift in
You failed the straight test btw
posting on IST is an automatic straight test fail.
Spoken like a true straight-test-failer
how about you straight test fail my nuts, you lil gay nerd?
you failed your test twice now, homosexual
Do 5 sets of 5 but only the last one is difficult
this.
also haha what if that girl dropped her sweaty trunks and took a shit all over my face haha wouldn't that be funny?
Built for BBC
i do 3x8 at a weight that feels about 70%
>toot
Doing deadlifts for reps is just awkward. Do singles. Maybe like 1 or 2 sets.
I do 3x1 of 375 (My max) and then 3x5 of 275
it varies day to day.
I am going to drill working sets during the week and pop heavy singles on the weekends for the time being.
today was like
warm ups
bar
95
135
185
225 with variations in grip
245
275
315
anything above a single set is too much unless you're a woman, or an extremely unexplosive male.
I love really sneaky troll posts like this, since this is a guy who knows you're going to break your back doing 1 rep at 100 lbs above your max.
I'm not trolling. Haven't you read Practical Programming?
I do 5x5. It's not heavy enough if you dont struggle to do the last set.

>image of a woman clearly setting up for a snatch
You're too stupid to be making your own program, OP.
SS + GOMAD
Do whatever you want. I have done 10x10 deadlifts with light weight and it's fine.
Do 0x0 and replace them with RDLs and weighted back extensions.

straps, mixed grip etc?
Straps for 275 and 295. I did mixed grip for the first 7 or so years that I lifted but decided to use straps this time around.
Mixed grip is cheating, and I will die on this hill.
>pic related, its me and my 2 friends
straps are the best. literally no reason to bare grip working sets unless you plan to compete in powerlifting
Based. I'm at 1 yr 6 months gym and I can finally deadlift 3 pl8
im 1 month into SS and can do 3 plates. eat more boy.
>t. 300 lbs powersharter
I started deadlifting 6 months ago. This isn't a contest, man.
Deadlifts are pure strength exercise, keep them around 3-8 reps.

I work up to a working set of five and then move on to the rest of my back workout.
