how much of a meme are these grip trainers? I mainly just want something useful to do with my hands while watching movies and shit, cause I'm an adhd zoomer. do these noticeably improve your grip strength?

you can't train grip strength. it's entirely dependant on testosterone levels

      you can train everything.

      is it any good?

They are okay if you have no grip. But 60 kg is easy to get to. Good for the untrained, too easy for someone who trains regularly.

I like to take them on vacation with me to get a quick forearm pump in. Theyre pretty great

They're fun for a quick forearm pump and you can make some minor gains but you're not making nearly as much in gains as you would if you just lifted heavy or worked a manual labor job also they break pretty fast

This is the real answer - you wanna build grip strength , add manual labor to your life - not meme isolations

This, you kind of develop grip strength, but really it's squeeze strength you end up developing. For example something like this isn't going to improve your pullups or rows unless your limiting factor was your hands.

        Yes get one, they're cheap
I have the same one and do the same thing. Just get forearm pumps while I'm chilling out watching youtube or listening to music

        >you kind of develop grip strength, but really it's squeeze strength you end up developing
"you kind of develop closing-hand strength, but really it's strength to close your hand you end up developing"

        Wtf you on about??

Not that anon, but hand grippers are more for developing dynamic grip strength. If your goal is to improve deadlift grip strength then adding in static holds would be more beneficial since it's more of an endurance exercise

I started on the Trainer couple years ago (which I think is rated around 47kg or so) and eventually got to the point where I could do 12-15 reps each hand easily.

Recently ordered a Number 1 (rated at 67Kg, I think) and I went from barely able to close it once to doing around 4-5 reps at a time in a few days. I'm glad I didn't go straight for the 1.5 like I wanted to, I don't think I could even close that once.

Knowing how to 'set' them in your hand before starting a set, and using chalk if you have sweaty palms really does help

Nice, I just ordered a #2 since I've been making good progress on my #1.5

You can close the gripper and hold it closed for static holds
End of the day your holding strength is from your forearms. And grippers help get strong forearms

I have this exact one, doesn't go heavy enough. Start with a set including a 100lb and 150lb at least

Have the same one. 60kg became too light really fast. I was able to do it 100 times on 60kg and i barely felt anything.

I too have this exact one. Weird.

i would like to make use of these but the 1.5 i got is physically painful to close. not from musculature, but from the palm of my hand and fingertips. if you are ~11% or less bf it just fricking hurts to use the damn thing, i've worked around it by using some of that plushy foam padding that sometimes comes in amazon packages to make it a bit more manageable but it's still difficult to use.
if you're going for grip strength i'd get one like the OP's instead of a V shaped gripper, ideally one with a bit more padding if such a thing exists or add your own. if you just want forearm size, wrist curls and a weighted roller is going to be way more effective and less unpleasant.

What's your PR on climbing? Any tips for newbs?

i've only been doing it like 3-4 months. i can do most V3s pretty comfortably and some V4s at my gym.

the best advice i got was to just climb shit and not spend too much time trying stuff you can't do yet. racking up time on the wall will improve your ability quicker than anything else.
