How much will getting lean affect how people treat me?

How much will getting lean affect how people treat me? I'm at 20% bodyfat now and in the middle of my cut, I was 25%. How will I be treated, especially be women, when I lean down?

When you reach below 12% people will treat you like a whole different person. If you're fit on top of it, and you get chances to show off your body, it changes the whole social game drastically.
No reason to stay fat unless you're making cash out of it. Being lean opens all kind of doors and vaginas.

I'm 5'9" 172 at ~20%, when I get down to 12% I should be around ~155 I think I won't go any leaner. My face is okay, but I think I might have a really good face when I'm there. I just need to stop stuffing my face.

12 is where I default to. Go higher during the year, stronger but doesn't look so good. Around 10 looks good but feel weak and hard to maintain. 12% is that sweet spot in which you're not a skeleton, but can have a visible six pack and a totally lean face and you can stay there comfortably. If you jave a job and a rather active life outside of fitness, it's the ideal amount of leanness. But you need muscle, cause untrained 12% looks skinnyfat and flaccid.

I have enough muscle, that I shouldn't look too bad. My bench PR should be 175-190, I'm doing it tommorrow. I curl 35s for 5 reps, I can do 6 chin ups, and I DB row 52.5s, and do lat pulldowns with 120 lbs. Let's not talk about lower body lol. Will I look like a weak fag at 12%?

            >Will I look like a weak fag at 12%?
Depends to who, but that's not what matters. People, and specially women, treat you according to aesthetics, not to perceived strength. So it's a matter of sorting priorities. How much strength are you willing to trade for looks is directly related to how low you're willing to cut.

How should I look with those strength numbers? I've been making gains on my cut but I won't be training outside of calisthenics for the next month and a half while I cut.

Idk man that sounds rather average, you'll probably mog the average untrained normie (aka almost everyone you'll regularly encounter) but that's about it. It will probably look as impressive as it sounds.

                >that sounds rather average
It is, I've been lifting for less than half a year. I guess I'll be happy with an okay looking lean physique, face probably matters more, at least to women, and that's the biggest reason I'm cutting. My face hasn't really changed from 25% to 20%, so I'm concerned that it won't change much from 20% to 12%.

Some people keep chubby face until very low bodyfat. Some others keep a lean face at high bf, and everything in between. It really comes down to genetics, but there's only one way to find out.

Okay. I really hope I look lean at 15 or so. I have really good bone structure and everything but my face is just so chubby

That's true. And you should, cause it is definetely worth it. When I got fatter a bit again, yeah it wasn't nice around the belly/love handle area. But damn, not my face. That's the biggest motivator to lose a few pounds/kilos again. And I say that although my face is still pretty lean in contrast to body. Problem is my age and with that less elastic skin + fat as a kid meaning too much skin all around the body although not in excess.

                >Problem is my age and with that less elastic skin + fat as a kid meaning too much skin all around the body although not in excess.
Yeah I'm a college student so I should get lean and stay lean because of that

                Anonymous

If you already have the excess skin from being fat, you probably won't be able to eliminate that. Losing the fat will not automatically make your skin hang, it will adjust. But aging skin get's looser and that might turn to a problem down the line. But that shouldn't stop you from getting leaner, especially in college when you party the most (at least in EU (Uni)).

Even if you have excess skin below chin-neck, last resort would be a face lift where they cut skin around your neck/throat. Maybe I will do it in a few years (5-10, I'm 32), if I deem it necessary. But for now it still looks pretty fine. Doing it too early may also be detrimental, cause it might force you to do it twice.

                Anonymous

Hmm. What if I get lean now and then build more muscle, especially in the neck? Will that help? In the modern world most people get up into the 20% range one time or another tbh.

                Anonymous

Can't tell you that. Getting a thicker neck might solve skin issues. When I was working out my neck was thicker I think, but not dramatically. I didn't train it directly. OHP and other stuff might have influenced it.

Just lose the fat first and then you can see. Preferably by lifting so that you do both (fat+ muscles (maybe even in neck)) at the same time. You should look better. That also depends on how you "naturally" look, but everybody regularly looks better leaner. Since I was fat from young age I always thought I was ugly and was even told so with 12-14. When I got lean girls were flirting with me, but for a long time this low self-valuation was still engrained in my mind. That sucked, lost many opportunities because of that.

Yeah, with 5'9 155 would be necessary without muscles. Sure with muscles you can weigh more. 170 would be really pressing the issue.

I'm 6'1 (185cm) and was lean in my opinion with 73-80kg, so 160lbs+ to 180? I had some mucles, but not big by any means. I was never strong. Since I knew I was weak I focused more on muscle growth and aesthetics, especially staying thin through working out, since I didn't want to do cardio.

                >170 would be really pressing the issue
Over 5 years? My plan is just to get to 12%, then alternate between lean bulks to 15% and recomps to 12%, might not be as optimal as bulking harder but it should work.

Sorry, I'm no native speaker. The expression was probably wrong. I meant 170 lbs on 5'9 without muscles won't be lean. For that you would need to be 155 lbs. 170 lbs with muscles on the other hand could work.

But even when I was working out I stood below 80kg (177 lbs) although being 185cm (6'1). Especially as exfatty, cause when bulking it always seemed like I would suck up the fat immediately.

Oh, I get it. Yeah, I'm going down to 155 now and then I'm gonna gradually bulk up to 175 over the next couple of years while staying lean. That's my plan at least

But I also had some conditions that made it harder for me to gain muscle back then (mild scoliosis that impacted nerves in my case).

Anyways, with 5'9 lean starts at 155 lbs and below WITHOUT muscles.

There’s very little gain in definition from 25%—> 20%. You’re just going from really fat to still pretty fat.

When I get to 15%, my bicep veins at least start to show. You’re starting to look like a real person instead of a marshmallow.

+150lbs with abs is absurdly big and impressive in real life. delusional powersharters on fit all think they are big lads when they weigh +200lbs but in reality they wouldn't be even 150lbs soaking wet and ripped. the ball park of ~150lbs for someone under 6' is more or less the natty limit. With abs. You can push it up to 160lbs but 170lbs is when the fake natty territory starts. That's what Kinobody weighs for example. Definitely not achieved by 99,99999999999999999999999% of people.
