You have drive and are constantly working towards something resulting in you forgetting to eat. It's why artists and musicians tend to be so skinny, they get lost in their work for days at a time. Same applies for some gamers too.

It’s also called being an aspie spazoid.

You have drive for the wrong things. You should have drive for being strong and muscular and healthy.

I think it's something like that, also the brain burns a ton of calories, it's not a cheap organ. I think it's something like 15% of your energy goes to your noggin, it sounds absurd but it's apparently true. But some brains work harder, high IQ people for example. Also a grandmaster at chess will burn 6000 calories during a full tournament day of playing. It's all that constant concentrating. I'd guess that even just being stressed and worrying will tax your brain in the same way.

I'd love to believe this, but the human body's use of energy necessarily produces CO2. If a full tournament is 8 hours, then chess grandmasters are burning around 4000 kcal over 8 hours, which is 500kc/hour. That would cause them to breathe harder perceptibly, sweat and raise their heart rate.

I do agree the brain burns a lot of calories, but I would expect the difference in burn rate between a resting brain and a brain at full concentration is really small. I'd love to be proved wrong though.

There's a similar observation for researchers and other intellectuals. This pattern was noted historically so much that people thought that it might be all the thinking that burned off so much of the energy. Obviously there are counterexamples, but even in them it's more like the fat dude is smart enough to get away with not doing much actual work. I think as well there may be more oxygenated blood going to their brains or something.

I used this as a cope for some time, but then I realized nobody likes me because I'm skinny. Bulking now

This is true also unfortunately. Skinny people give off a colder and less friendly vibe and are more irritable, the jolly fat guy stereotype is also real. Something about not eating tends to maybe even shift gene expression to working harder or something, I can't explain it biologically but I know it's true.

There are plenty fairly skinny people I do like but that's because they have super overcompensated other things, are full of energy and get things done, unlike many of the fatter people, so it's hard to contradict that type of energy by disliking them.

Unironically some processed foods suppress ur hunger a lot.
I remember when I was a NEET for 5 years and never went above 65kg.
My day pretty much consisted of 2 instant ramen noodles and a lot of coffee. I didn't feel hungry at all. I was pretty much living on 1k-1.5k cal a day for years.

Literally the opposite. There's no reason to be fat. Being fat is more expensive, and it takes more effort to become fat because you have to either cook up a bunch of food, or go out and buy a ton of it etc.

I think having a mother who cooked disgusting food so much that you developed a hate for food from a young age is how people are skinny

      Anonymous

To add to this, I am talking about people who grew up in a house where they weren't ever allowed take-away/fast food, and they were only given from food someone who couldn't cook and only made disgusting food.

I can see how this kind of person would develop a hatred for food from a young age, as they would learn to associate eating with disgust.

I always hated eating to be honest. Big meals just disgusted me. I loved cereals and chocolate tho, and I was living on those pretty much. I loved Italian food, but I don't recall actually eating all the pizza or the spaghetti. Growing up I stuck to this "diet". One cereal for breakfast, some sandwich for lunch between classes, and then I don't recall what I had for dinner. If I was hungry, which happened a lot, I just ate some chocolate because we always had some at home. I remember my mom even took me to the doctor once and he scribed some pills which were supposed to make me want to eat more but it didn't work. Every girl envied how slim I was. When I met with my gf I was barely heavier than her yet I was much taller. Only after the end of university, then things finally started to settle I managed to get my eating in order. This was the time when I finally got into sports so there was a motivation, too, to eat normally. Meals 4-6 times a day, dropping chocolate and sweets completely along with cereals. I'm still slim, but I've crawled from 58kg at 190 cm to 80. Maybe it's not much for others but I'm proud of it. It's still a fricking pain to eat though.

So I'm the opposite of op. I don't understand fat people and why they complain about their weight. Not eating comes much more naturally to me, so I always imagine loosing weight must be much much more easy than gaining weight.

I'm not sure I've answered your question, op, but this was my tale. Thank you for listening.

some vitamin deficiencies can actually cause loss of appetite, some people also have lower appetite naturally, those skinny people that boast to eat a lot and will eat giant meals around you, that's probably the meal they have for that entire day, these people don't have a clue how much food fat people actually gorge on... i know this because i know people like this, they have no fricking clue... i can eat 2kg of food in one sitting and have another meal like that just 3h or 4h later, my stomach is a fricking machine, that's why i have to eat massive portions of low density food like greens and salad with my meat or fish, i also try to keep the fat on the meat and fish on the low side, i don't avoid it completely like some of these "i can eat large portions and never get fat people" and then all they eat is simple pasta, white rice, and lean cuts, stupid fricks

why do you understand overeating but not undereating? its the same thing. Skinny people have a smaller appetite and literally a smaller stomach.

I used to be a skinny frick and if i tried to eat 4000cals in a day i would vomit. It took a long as time to build up my appetite.

I'm not underweight anymore, but I was for a long time.
I just don't like food. I eat because I have to, not for pleasure. I don't understand people who gorge themselves, food really isn't that great. Sure some stuff tastes better than others, but it's still just okay. It's still just sustenance to me.

For me? Childhood trauma of growing up poor with a violent autistic father where when even the food wasn't complete shit the mood around the dinner table felt like an execution and it usually ended in someone getting slapped around and tears and crying etc. That also led to me not being able to cook for myself until I was like 24 years old.

and also I was an early adopter of coffee and energy drinks in my young teens, cool way to ruin your appetite.
