When you grab the barbell off the rack, do a few reps, and then SUDDENLY feel that you can't lift it anymore because your arms have suddenly given out - that's the absolute absence of stored glycogen. How do you think it helps to train if your limbs give up in the middle of the exercise? By the way, lifting is not for losing fat. But it's the same for cardio too. When you have no energy in your body, you have trouble exercising, which in turn hinders your ability to lose fat more efficiently. You still have to push through, but that's the way it is.

        Alternatively, you can dry fast to tighten it up.
        Obviously, do your research before forgoing water and food for 2 or more days.
        Like the Chilean anon above me said, the key is calorie restriction.
        I would follow a vegetarian keto (google it) diet and supplement with a zero carb protein powder if you can't meet your protein needs with eggs and nuts.
        You should exercise for your heart and to "cycle" your system but recognize that it won't do much to help you lose weight directly.
        It's just good for you in other ways.

    Start small. Swap unhealthy choices like pizza and sodie pop for more healthy choices like beef and peas with tea. Do this as much as you can. It's extremely difficult to lose weight if you're eating pizza and ice cream more than once a week.

    Exercise a little bit. Walk consistently. Do a little more as time goes on. If you can commit to a 30 minute walk for 30 days with no ice cream, then come back and ask for more tips.

    do a max set where you are failing on the 8th rep for bench squat incline and deadlift
    do lat pulldowns/rows/inverted rows/barbell rows all 4 days
    add accessories as you build some basic strength
    take l-carnitine, EGCG, yohimbine, growth hormone in the morning on an empty stomach and take a walk
    cook your rice with a tablespoon of coconut oil per cup dry rice when you cook as a big batch and refrigerate overnight then start eating some from that pile. This make the rice starches resistant to absorbtion and decreases caloric content ~50% effectively.
    get a mandolin and use it to slice cabbage thin, replace half the quantity of rice you eat with that sprinkled with a bit of vinegars and low caloric flavors.

    Walk more

    Get your fat ass on a bike. Pound those peddles until you are literally dripping wet atleast 5 days a week. During winter and when it's cold outside, if there is not steam coming off your body, keep peddling. You don't even need to stop eating like shit. The only thing you need to do is burn enough calories.
    Now there is one caveat, your metabolism might be completely out of whack n FRICKED from sitting around and not doing shit for years. It might take a while for it to kick in, but keep on peddling. It WILL activate sooner or later. You just need to push yourself to the limit everyday.

    Doing this I've went from over 400lbs to 190lbs in about a year. I've stayed in the range of 180-200lbs for the last 10 years because of this.

    Pick a diet that you can maintain and then burn calories through movement of choice. had a client who just ate chicken / broccoli / rice and did steps for a hour 4x week before I worked with him, he lost over 100lbs doing this.

    Drink ~100oz water / day if a dude and sleep 7-9hrs otherwise your not going to recover from workouts and stress hormones will be elevated hindering progress
