Mediation causes you to cease all "self improvement" as you become aware you're already where and who you're meant to be and you always have been and will be.
false. Franky Yang is crushing it, has an amazing physique, and pursued meditation. OP.. Look up Vipassana. Also look up frank yang, a bodybuilder/artist who influenced me to get into meditation.
>Franky Yang
an older meme but it checks out. I miss the days of frankposting
He also hasn't worked a day in his life, gets by with daddy's money, is mentally ill and addicted to BBC porn.

its all true, but there is also one more important thing to add here: he did something entertaining, successfully. He had provided me with fresh perspective, which is something that the "youtube personalities" should have been all about.
meditation will eventually make you realise that your body and this is life is just a temporary passing illusion. your sense of self is a delusion, your feelings, thoughts, emotions, cravings, aversion, are all like a rainbow, impossible to grasp and hold on to. you will die, everything you hold dear will be lost, everything you enjoy leads to more suffering, and the only way out is to let go of it all.
>there's only one type of meditation >there's only one outcome of meditation

You don't have to go full on Buddhist monk, or upper middle class white bitch to meditate, and there's no singular methodology or outcome to it. Mindfulness meditation is different from zen meditation which is different from deistic meditation (try praying for 30 minutes straight, and see how alike it is to meditation).
Among all the different types, all meditation is a means of disallowing distractions and focusing on something deeply and with whatever meaning is being sought. That's fucking it.
Lifting weights is meditation. You focus on breathing, technique, tempo etc. and you disregard whatever else is going on in your life.
It makes you feel good, gives you muscles and stronger bones and joints.
Look into discursive meditation. Evidently they used to teach it to children in church. Meditation started in the East though, so I'm not sure you're ever gonna find a form of meditation free from eastern influence.

if you read some of the pre-christian western philosophers they drew attention to ideas of the order, balance, harmony of the universe, not too dissimilar to the eastern concept of yin and yang. Or focusing on the universe going through types of cycles of birth, death, and rebirth, like ideas you'd find in Hinduism or Buddhism.
I was just wondering if there was any more examples of the respective peoples independently coming to similar or the same conclusions about things, such as meditation.

Meditation isn't eastern or western. It is a practice for observance and being. Plain and simple.
>lowered resting heartrate and breathing >lower stress >feeling good, also start thinking more about myself and my future and what sort of person i want to be and be seen as
I started meditating and I like it.
Also doing the premediation of evils actually feels really helpful.

Yeah "meditation" is just newspeak for "I practice coping in my free time".
hahaha strangely accurate!

if thats the case, then wouldnt working out or improving yourself also be part of who youre meant to be?
Imagine being stupid enough to write this dribble.
Imagine being stupid enough to write "dribble" instead of "drivel."

You don't need to meditate if you lift bro. Just lift more.
Thinking about lifting the weights is harder than lifting the weights.
