How to Slavic squat

I would like to be able to squat like a Slav. It looks like a very useful resting position when the ground is dirty, for example on hikes. But every time I try it, I have to lift my heels and balance on my toes, or I fall backwards. What exercises should I do to achieve a Slavic squat as soon as possible? I'm a bit chubby and very tall with long legs.

      Thanks, just tried a very wide squat. It's better but my heels are still about 1 cm off the ground.

      pose and pull yourself forward so that your heels would still be on the ground and do this ~10 minutes every day

        Is this enough? Just stretch my ankles by holding a tree or pole for 10 minutes per day and I'll be able to do a full squat?

          just go on walk everyday and pull yourself like that, start with a tree, then try grabbing some grass, sometimes try without holding anything, etc... noone here will be able to tell you if its enough, we dont know how you spent the rest of the day and how bad your current condition is...

    as a slav I have same issue but I CAN remain in squat like this for just a bit and it's really fricking hard. I do feel like something's tight somewhere and also like tibs are too fricking weak.
    So now I try to just squat like that whenever I need to IRL.

    Also I do deep barbell squats and I'm sure it's gonna help it

    It's mostly hip flexibility. Try to squat to a box. Not a tall fricking box that makes the whole thing pointless, I mean a box that's just below what you can do. Squat down and try to open your hips as hard as you can to touch the box. Do this every time before you take a shit (seriously) and in some time you'll have incredible hip mobility. Dorsiflexion is much harder to build though. I haven't figured it out yet.

      Not sure I understand. Do you mean doing picrel and moving the box progressively forward so that I have to reach for it harder and harder?

        Nope. Have the box UNDER you and squat to it. Progression is by using a smaller box.

    You need to front squat. I'm an Aryan Übermensch but after front squatting consistantly for 2 years I slav squat with the best of them. Note this is not to be confused with the chink squat

        Yes but the way he's holding the bar is moronic. There's a lot of videos on YouTube showing how to front squat well. Also make sure you're stretching you ankles to improve dorsiflexion

    I did a squat everyday program for 6 months a while ago and sat in a deep weighted squat at every weight working up to my working sets for 30 to 60 seconds each. Do this and slav squat is no problem.
