Grats bro they're good exercises.
I am the only person at my gym.
wtf how do you find a gym that isn’t packed to the gills?
Make it yourself.
I can't even do pullups at my own weight. I have to use the assisted pull-up machine like a girl.
The trick is to simple force yourself to do chin-ups or pull-ups until you can do them
Using assisted pullup machine or Pulldowns won’t help you be able to do pull-ups.
It’s one of those things you’re just gona have to do and most likely feel embarrassed about, but you shouldn’t, considering most people don’t do them, and most who do them can’t do them properly, and those who can do them never progress to weighted because they don’t have the idea to buy a belt / chain to do weighted
>Using assisted pullup machine or Pulldowns won’t help you be able to do pull-ups.
Any reason as to why not? Ive been putting them off becuase the pullup machine was replaced and now feels horrible at my gym, but i really want to be able to do pullups because i feel really weak
Do pull up negatives. Jump up, hold yourself in the up position for a few seconds, then slowly lower yourself down over a few seconds and repeat. Works the same muscles as a pull up, unlike the assist machine.
Would it also be good to practice simple holds? I can barely hold the bar for 10 seconds
Holds or negatives or lat pull downs. Whatever it takes until you can do a single pull up. Then just do a frick ton of pull ups even if it’s just the one rep.
I built up my pull ups starting with one of those door jam pull up bars. Just one rep each time I went to the bathroom, ended up being dozens of sets of just 1 rep across a day. Eventually started doing 2, then 3 etc. I feel like just doing a shit ton of them daily is the best way to get started and then you can slowly build up.
Once you get into weighted pull ups I wouldn’t do that shit daily anymore
your issue is grip. work on that
I know thats my issue, but not the only one, i'll work on it
Thanks bro, lets hope i can pullup clean once within a month
Same. Also never have to line up for pull up bar/stations
I like to do the assisted machines after I finish doing pulls/chins. Still a dyel though (can do weighted pull ups at 25lb).
my gym buddies and i always called it the tower of shame. you'll eventually get there, bro. keep on grinding
kek this is me
Gotta start somewhere, I set the weight a little lower each week until I'll eventually manage 0kg counterweight (dips as well). Nothing wrong with that
stop being fat
underams reverse hand 30deg incline pullups with locked out elbow but keep the wrist above the bar
what the actual frick did you mean to type I'm having a stroke trying to comprehend this post
>full blown DMV line for the pulldown machines
>functional area with pull up rig empty
feelsgoodman
How do I into DB pullovers? Tried em before but they didn't click for me. Would love to swap out pulldowns for a free weight vertical pull and cut the cable area out of my routine completely, too crowded over there
Same. Legit only saw one other dude do a couple sets of weighted pull ups with a 25lb DB he held between his legs like 6 months ago then never saw him again. I’m literally the only one that does them at my gym.
I’m in there twice a week doing weighted pull ups (just this week gonna try alternating between weighted pull ups and chins for variety / I heard they might complement each other).
It’s always my first back movement. It’s kinda neat cause since it’s so rare I do notice some mires now and then, or if I’m doing a high rep set of even bodyweight I’ll catch people glancing at me mid set, feelsgoodman.
PR is 18 in a row for body weight
45lb x8 weighted. Also did a 90 for what was almost a single but I feel I was a pinch too short to count it. Fun to max out once and a while.
Based. Currently at 3x5 w/ 65 lbs added. Next goal is 5 reps of 2 pl8.
>PR is 18 in a row for body weight
what is bodyweight and fat percentage?
That was done at 165lbs. No idea body fat percentage.
If I knew how to make webms I’d post the vid but I don’t so my iPhone vid is way too big to share
I am the only person who lasts 15 minutes in the sauna. It’s usually set to 190°.
The weight on my weights pullups is my fat gut
I managed to do them after a month of or so regards 100kg lanklet however my shoulders started screaming at me and turning inwards not that they do not do that otherwise. No matter how fast, slow, pause at top, pause at bottom, pause at middle etc. my shoulders just don't like them in long run. Gotta do them at times tho because it sounds like a pretty big weakness not to be able to pull self up even once or twice.
Also here it's not rare to see others doing pull ups, with weight or not, surprisingly.
That's unironnically great but the real question is "how's your form"?
See people doing them a lot at climbing gyms. Saw one guy doing 35kg+ for reps and was miring hard.
the thing about pullups is that one day I might hit 12+ reps on the first set, and the other day I'm lucky to hit 8-9 while staying at the same bodyweight
got sick of this shit and just moved on to lat pulldowns, at least I can be way more consistent with them
Maybe your form is inconsistant so you're sometimes cheating and sometimes not.
Home gymcel here is it worth to get a cheap membership to mog the zoomies? I can do weighted chins with 115lbs at 175bw
Same. I can feel the eyes burning in my back the second I put on the weight belt.
Is it worth doing pullups if I can only do 3 of my bodyweight per set? I can do 5 chinups per set max too
weighted pull-ups & chin-up brethren coming in.
10 kg of plates hanging against my semi-erect wiener, my 80 kg of muscle mass on my 6'2 frame, arms go up and grab the cold steel.
feels better than sex, bros
gotta start humbly brother. keep on
How come there's people that can't do pull ups? I don't gym or lift. But I've always just been able to do it. Straight legs, no swing. Just right up. Palms facing away from me.
Is it because Americans are fat? I'm pretty light
yes americans are fat, good chance you aren't a lanklet either
Ahh I see. I'm 70kg / 154lbs. Always been a skinnygay
the assisted pull up machine when it puts me at your weight 70 kilos I can do like 15 but I'm slowly getting better and I think watching the progress of pull ups really makes me happy like when I first started working out doing push ups only being able to do 10
Ah nice. Good for you man
Basically yes. For some reason every increase in weight is like increase squared or cubed in how hard it is to do chinups/pullups. I used to be able to do them decently enough at 160 pounds when I was partly dyel, now that I'm 195 pounds even though I can lift heavier I'm actually slightly worse at them if anything.
If it makes you feel like a dyel, consider that literally the world's strongest man can't do more than a few pullups:
lol what a weak fat piece of shit. Just shows you how fake strongman shit is
can you do a pullup with a total weight of 440lb?
Can those strongman fatasses even squat or dead 5x their bodyweight?
both of their pull ups forms are atrocious
Weighted chin-ups AND weighted pull-ups? Yeah you’re an absolute madman.
I only do neutral grip pulls-ups, sometimes wide grip pull-ups, don’t do chin-ups any more after some tendonitis previously. Weighted obviously, only at plus 2pkg pl8 for 3x5 but I’m getting better.
i mog all powershitters in my gym with weighted pull-ups (1pl8 for reps)
I did 10 strict form straight leg pull ups yesterday as a 92kg 25%bf fatty but i cant do chinups due to my right hand wrist not able to turn around properly feelsbadman
I never do weighted chins or pull ups at the gym because I have a better pull-up bar at home. My pull-up bar is thinker than the one at the gym and also is wrapped in athletic tape to give it friction. Waiting for the day when some Black person accuses me of not being able to do a pull up.
Close grip weighted pulls made my biceps and lats absolutely blow the frick up. Its easily one of my favorite exercises. My forearms too because I'm doing them real controlled so I'm getting tons of activation there too similar to farmer's carry.
