I can't do a single pushup bros wtf. I just want to start lifting and doing basic bodyweight movements. it's not a lack of motivation its the fact that my body literally will not let me do the most basic human movements there is. currently 6'4 and 160lbs so I'm not obese or anything I just am completely atrophied.. is there truly no recourse besides getting on test ASAP and trying to mend my fricked up useless body?
>I can't do a single pushup its over bros
Go to the gym or something moron.
and do what you moron? if I can't do a fricking pushup what am I expected to do at the gym? wander around and play with dumbbells? I am not physically fit enough to pass middle school PE class. what could a gym membership possibly do if I am failing all the prerequisites
i am doing half pushups from my knees and i feel like my core is doing nothing so I have to stop doing those and start doing crunches and planks until I can activate my core enough to not just push upward using my triceps
Because that's what I did and it worked.
you were probably well off before you entered the gym bro, I need at least a month of conditioning before anything in there could serve useful for me
I wasn't. I spent my life as a weakling up until age 18 and then I joined the military. To train up, I went to the local gym and lifted as heavy dumbbells as I could.
Even if you're lifting 5, 10, 15 pound dumbbells, if you do that long enough, you'll be able to lift heavier ones
Start small little one.
I have a set of 10s and 20s but all I do is hammer curls, wrist curls and seated dumbbell press. Add in some farmers walks with 20s and this is literally all my body can handle besides a daily light jog and attempts at pushups and planks
pushups are meant to activate your chest and triceps, not your core. core is just stabilising your body straight.
you're awfully hostile for a grown "man" with the strength of a 6 year old girl lmao
go to the gym and ask one of the girls there how to get stronger
you are literally just making up excuses for being lazy
Kys, dumbass. Guy can't even move himself.
OP, get some stretchy bands. Work your way up. You got this.
Keep trying. When I first started at 175lbs, 6"1', I couldn't do more than like 3 pushups, and even then that was being generous at the time. The important part is getting the right posture and bending your arms at a 90 degree angle as you go down and then push-up. Try to do at least 5 at a time to start. Even if you can't do 1, keep trying. Your body will strengthen up faster than you know.
>6'4 160lbs
>6'1 175lbs
How the frick cant you do pushups??? Have you literally been sitting motionless all of your lives?
When I was a scrawny nogym 6'4 160lbs noodle I could still do 15-20 pushups
Ditch your ego and start with girl pushups.
You better just give up. You're clearly weak minded.
I weight 15 more pounds, 9 inches shorter and even I can do ~30 in a row kek you are one weak Black person. But that's ok, I couldn't do any when I started lifting either. Try doing them with your knees touching the ground to start. If you practice this way and lift it won't be long until you can do 1 (one) pushup with perfect form. Then you can practice pushups normally. I doubt it would take more than a few weeks. If you take T or juice then you're a coping troony. Anyways good luck bro.
>pic related could be you
To add, if you can't do knee pushups start with chair pushups or even countertop pushups
Start with knee push ups
I couldn't do one real push up, but knee push ups helped me build up to it.
Now i can do 5 good push ups, chest touches the floor kind, not that homosexual type half rep
i have been doing knee pushups for 2 hours now and my chest seems unscathed. it only affects my wrist/hand+forearms and if I use a dumbbell to grip onto while doing them it seems to only hit my triceps. is this a form issue
Yes
You'll obviously feel it in your wrists too if you're just starting out, but you should work on some mind muscle connection a bit, at least at the start.
>single digit pushups
>knee pushups
you guys are meme'ing right?
>pushups
ROLLING
>6'4 and 160lbs
Knee ones can can be a bit awkward. You could also do them from your feet from progressively declining surfaces.
A wall, a counter, a bench, on top of the some books etc.
I recommend doing planks daily. Planks are overrated generally but one thing they can do for you is make you more solid in push-up form which is very useful.
The other thing you can do is negatives. Meaning you just do the "down" part of the exercise in a slow and controlled way.
Do push-up negatives long enough and you'll probably "accidentally" start doing a full one one day.
I'm also weak and scrawny again after sitting around for two years, and my wrists are fricked up to where doing pushups is way too painful and I don't want to make it worse. What can I do that has the same benefit but isn't pushups?
Wristlet, here. Some recommendations:
*Push-up grips are cheap and worth a try.
*Knuckle push-ups aren't as hard as you might think. Just do them off a wall, counter, bench etc. for a bit to prepare your wrist for that.
It can be easier on your wrists to do knuckles than regular ones!
*Pinch grip block. Buy or make one. You want to do holds with your hand fully extended at the wrist and your fingers and thumb spread as far as they can be still getting that last pad of your digits on it properly.
*standing barbell wrist curls and standing reverse barbell wrist curls with focus to a lot of reps rather than a lot of weight
start with knees homosexual.
Incline pushups. Elevate your hands on a chair or a table or something. The higher the elevation, the easier they get. You can gradually increase the difficulty/lower the height until you can do full pushups.
If that's still too hard, start with wall pushups.
It's not a major problem, but you have to do the work.
get on your knees and push, b***h
I wasn't able to do more than 2-3 the first time I tried it. You've literally just go to try again and again until you can and then push yourself every day to do a few more.
