I don't care how good planks may be for your body, if it's boring I'm not going to do it.

Frick any health/strength benefits resulting from planking. Planks fricking suck, that's the point, and that's why I plank immediately after waking every morning.
joe rogan-esque comment
wouldn't joe have said something about chimpanzees and their planking potential?

Past the first time doing them, they're worthless. Just do situps or something else you can actually load for your abs.
For me, it's the vertical leg raise.
Then watch your skibidi toilet playlist while you plank. makes time move faster for your zoomer brain.
>if it's boring I'm not going to do it.
This is my mentality for pretty much any exercise. You can always find something that's more fun and does about the same, if not a better job.
how long should you plank before moving on to somthing more advanced? like whats a "good" plank time?
Long enough to where it's more boring than difficult.
15 minutes minimum imo
i have genuinely horrific ab genetics and I'm actually starting to finally see a core emerge after doing either weighted GHD situps or weighted leg raises after every session
they are shit. abs aren't some kind of a magic muscle when it comes to hypertrophy, so planks are a subpar way to train them, for the same reason you aren't doing curl holds for your biceps, you're just doing curls. just because they stabilize the core, doesn't mean it's the most effective way to make them grow, just do real exercises, something like hanging leg raises, ab rollouts, dragon flags, etc.
>for the same reason you aren't doing curl holds for your biceps
speak for yourself, i am doing curl circles in external shoulder rotation holding db by one side to hit supination
>just because they stabilize the core, doesn't mean it's the most effective way to make them grow
they don't "stabilise core", they bend spine, because they connec ribs to pelvis
>hanging leg raises,
frick shoulders don't get abs because it's hip flexor
>ab rollouts
does it really HAVE TO GO THROUGH SHOULDER IN PRECARIOUS POSITION?
>dragon flags
lower obliques - they will look like love handles if u're not sub 10% body fat, it's not abs
abs are between pelvis and ribs - lie on utr back on sth soft, lift ur upper bod by bending in spine, w8 until u can't hold it anymore - yer done
upper obliques - same only twis torso one side reaching with elbow
> no u have to move, jolt, rep
no u don't, actually there is no better way to achieve hypertrophy than static hold provided u have isolated the muscle in question because u automatically get time under tension spanning ENTIRE FRICKING SET not fraction of a second when u actively do ur rep, i am talking about muscular tension on muscle belly itself
Ok single barbell schizo who has clearly injured his shoulder one too many times, prove the worth of your theories and post body
Dumbbell schizo sorry my mistake no disrespect
planking is kind of meditative bro. yes, they suck, but that's the challenge, and i go to the gym specifically to challenge myself.
if you lack the mental willpower to not do planks then you will not make it
rowing, cycling, pullups, dips, pushups, vertical leg raises, jump ropes, punching bag, running, situps, squats, lunges. i have no issues with any of these except that my soul dies inside every time i try to plank
Try marching planks
my shoulders give way before my abs do, what am I doing wrong? (1pl8 ohp)
move your elbows up further
Is there even any evidence that this shit does anything?
bro science
> I don't care how good planks may be for your body
They are close to 100% fricking useless.
