I don't understand the "I don't want to get too big" sentiment

I've been working as a personal trainer for a few years now and a very common qualifier my clients give to their fitness goals is "I don't want to get too big." Ignoring that it's impossible to accidentally become body builder huge over night, why wouldn't you shoot for maximum muscle mass? I get if someone new to fitness doesn't understand the capabilities of the human body, but once they become aware of what's possible, why shy away from it?

Women tend to not like overly muscular guys. They want well defined men. So a lot of guys are going for the toned look. That's just my guess.

You will never be big enough for women unless you're using an ungodly amount of steroids to ruin your life.

Oh look, the absolute bullshit take. Hop on a bodybuilder’s Tinder and see how that actually plays out.

Because it's ugly most people are exercising purely for vanity and above all else they just want to be less ugly. Also a lot of normies got mentally poisoned by older generations who saw a lot of lifters dying and pop science saying lifting was bad for your heart without the obvious "these guys were all on steroids" context. I really don't think normies have any idea what the natty limit for a 30 year old is.

because everything that looks unnatural is only for ugly people who need to change who they are
fitness, plastic surgery, hrt are all for geneticlets
i was a fatty and used the gym to become chad
listen to anyone's story it's always some transformation or people who have been bullied

I suppose it's cognitive dissonance. They're intimidated by the massively muscular and hypermasculine, so they tear it down as a coping mechanism. If they're actually successful in achieving a lot of muscle and tone, they may open up to the idea of achieving more, once they realize that they're able to join the club. Until then, they never even wanted to be a part of your club anyway, baka~!

because most people's goal body is something aligned with an "athletic" look, rather than looking like big ramy.

The average normie is completely delusional about what results you get lifting natty and women are doubly so.

Its mostly a cope of perception, where the lack of knowledge fools a person into thinking you can get big.
No, you can't just get big. There is a shitload of steps to get there, and you will most likely reach your goals long before getting big.

In my case is not about capability nor interest, it’s about the aesthetic I look for. I’m a short guy (1,68m) and going beyond ottermode, or super-athletic as a max. is way off to me. I picture myself as utter ridiculous.
Pic related. Not me, but I would never look like this homie. If he’s happy, then fine. Not my taste.
It’s funny because probably I will never see my true potential.

You would never look like that homie even if you were trying to. “Too big” does not exist for natties. Being worried about being “too big” is for morons and people on tons of gear with good genetics.

What are you talking about? Being “big” for short natties ain’t a big deal. Embracing power-dwarf mode is relatively easy. Just eat and lift. I know this from experience: did SS for 8 months straight until I quit when realising my summer clothes won’t fit. Fat but jacked, LMAO.

That guy is on grams of gear you moron, you wouldnt look like him if you trained your whole life

People are legitimately clueless about what realistic progress looks like. There’s a general attitude that the pro bodybuilder look is unappealing and the normies don’t understand that they are never going to get in the ballpark of the ballpark of the ballpark of that look, even if they were trying to.

by most standards it's basically impossible to get too big while natty anyway. What's possible is to become disproportionate through an incomplete training program

Getting big and staying big requires either

    A. A ton of effort with strict dieting.

    or

    B. Roids.

Its because roiders look fricking disgusting
    Most gym regulars are roiders.
And those that arent roiders dont look like they are regulars.
So naturally normies think that going to the gym makes you look like the "regulars".

Do you think normies even know that everyone with a biceps vein is a roider? Do you think they know that if you train your ass off for 5 years you'll just end up looking like a slightly sportier version of your current self, albeit 5 years older?
Yeah, i think your job hinges on normies continuing to have these delusions, so i wouldnt be complaining if i were you.

To a normie and sensible person, being fat, builtfat, roided, or any variation of bloatlord as they are all gross. They want to be somewhat muscular and lean which is normal and attractive.
