    Why do people keep implying spotter is a substitute for safties, it's moronic. Safeties are for catching the barbell if it slips, spotter can't fricking do catch it midair. All spotter can do is help you lower the weight if you he sees you struggling.

    You still need safeties if you have a spotter, but don't need a spotter with safeties. Spotters are obsolete.
