and who pays you to do this, the men who help you build the roads? how do you afford to pay yourselves with such low income ceilings, tradesmen?

does being wealthy and working less thanks to certification and education somehow remove a man's ability to learn trades? I'm always so confused hearing this viewpoint, it's so alien and nonsensical to anyone who understands how much free time and leisure an actual career allows for. I could master your trade 3 times over in my free time because I don't want to overpay for labor that should be getting done by state prisoners in chains, MAYBE under the leadership of an actual experienced tradesmen or craftsmen. this is the format that civilization was built on, not some elite class of hard laborers without enough IQ to escape the work/coping with work poverty cycle.

I'm sorry to anyone who is a victim of the insulting and embarassing acts of any parents who thought it was necessary to deny you education and force you to inherit their generational poverty without saving any money to give you any opportunity and elevate you out of that generational poverty. be the change you want to see, fingers crossed.

        >have a helper

        >I pay the helper a good wage
        >any big project that is outside of work hours I give him 1/3 of the total cost and he sees the invoice to confirm, it's a lot of money.

How to get a job as a helper? I’m late 20s changing careers applied to my local union this week but there’s a chance they won’t accept me for the apprenticeship. In which case I want to get a helper position and move up from there, I think it would increase chances of getting the apprenticeship.

But I feel like late 20s I’m too old and no one will want me. That they want fresh out of highschool spics

If you are in your 20's and want to get into the trades I would suggest the following
            >pick ONE and stick to it, do your research, I see so many guys hop scotch between plumbing or hvac and never get moving.
            >usually you start in school via the union in my area, thats a good route

Cons are really the politics grow in big companies, if you don't jive with your boss it can really suck and prevent growth. Also no wiggle room on vacation time and other perks of smaller companies
            >pros cons of small companies - Simple, if they are nice and good honest folk, youll have a good time. If they are cheating dickheads you'll have a bad time
            >Industrial vs. Residential - I think industrial is more chill, residential really sucks. I work in ultra high end residential, which is kind of cool because you can't frick up so you get to be calm and work slowly, but it's higher stakes and client relations require a certain knack.
            >If I could do it again I'd go industrial HVAC and start a gig once I was fully certified. Yes lots of driving around, but you don't have to be hyper anal about cleanliness or perfection like my current job doing specialized repairs for billionaires.

              >This. Oh he wants to frick with us?
I try to avoid an "us vs them" mentality, it's just this dude being a butthurt loser because he lacks the functional strength afforded by doing work that builds it.

              >Leave his house half built and invoice him plus tip. Next contractor will frick his shit up even more seeing he "fired" the first, or put up with it for a 200% surcharge, plus tip, plus billing for removing the old work partially finished.
I've done work for difficult customers like that, I always put my best effort in and try to make their second experience less hostile; most of the time it's just people who didn't understand what they were asking for and got mad when they didn't get what they want which could have been avoided with education and conversation. Occasionally the customer was just an butthole, then I do a flawless job, get paid and refuse to do any work for them ever again; I won't compromise the quality of my product and reputation over a grudge, but I will take my services elsewhere to avoid being around people who don't appreciate my hard work.

              >Mean while you're staying in a hotel as we leave piss bottles and half eaten burritos in the walls of your mc mansion
Drywallers and electricians are animals man, some of the funniest and sickest shit I've ever seen on a job site was those guys doing shit like that. I can't bring myself to do shit like that, worst I've done is spit in floor patch to get more moisture in there but my buddy used to draw pentagrams and swastikas under glue down LVT if the customer was a real prick.

Why isnt every electrican making that much then? Why do the majorfy only make 60-70k their whole life?

That's not true about office workers "doing more". A huge amount of office jobs are just filler and people find out they aren't actually doing anything worthwhile.

Of course some are making real results like people in successful business or investing roles.

But people who build stuff have concrete proof of what they are accomplishing. I don't do construction but a lot of them do alot, especially if they contract their own projects.

The workers that do actually do stuff, like engineers, are so useful we offset all the useless people

It by very logic is not "useless". Without these builders there wouldn't be a society. They are literally the backbone of everything around us. Our homes, our plumbing, running water , electricity, everything. It's not glamorous but you aren't thinking straight if you think contract work or labor isnt important. That's a zoomer take who thinks through his ego and believes only people who were suits are important.

          Anonymous

Most construction workers are working on new dwellings which are only required because of unchecked immigration.
As for maintenance and existing services etc, if tradies these days knew how to actually do quality work without using cheapass materials then things wouldn't need repairing every 5 years.
The number of construction workers could be cut in half and society would still function as normal.

            Anonymous

You have no basis for "knowing" any of that. I'm sure most homes aren't bought by immigrants I'm sure an even number of people need homes. Even if not, the fact is there is a considerable chunk of people that need these homes. Not to mention building construction.

There is a huge need for tradespeople actually. Sure some suck, a lot don't. The demand is getting more and more. In some cities, it takes weeks to get a plumber to come to you.

There's not much you can say man cause what you're saying isn't the truth. I would say a linemen would do more benefit to our society then another accounting employee who works in a department with 30 other accountants.

Whatever tho that's all I'll say

              Anonymous

I've worked construction for 10+ years, and have been around the industry since I was like 12 years old.
Any new satellite suburb that pops up is a main driving force of construction, and most of the houses end up being rented out to immigrant uber drivers/petrol station clerks. The houses that end up being lived in by white people is typically because they had to move 40 minutes+ out of the city because inside the city was too expensive due to immigrants.

              >I would say a linemen would do more benefit to our society
Of course, because they do actual important work for building and maintaining infrastructure. They arent slapping together homes with foam walls, or working on apartment buildings made with chinese materials that literally fall apart within 3 years.
OP thread is specifically about manual laborers. Linemen arent manual laborers.

Anon that’s not true. He can’t build a house, he also

Because the majority of people aren’t willing to take risks, they don’t know shit about running a business, they have issues leaving stable comfort, they’re stupid, etc

By your same logic, why isn’t every desk jockey making $12k a month after taxes? Are they too busy drying tears and posting essays on IST seething from being butthurt about laborers?

        Anonymous

        >Why isnt every electrican making that much then? Why do the majorfy only make 60-70k their whole life?
The majority of them either can't or don't want to start their own business. Some people just aren't management material or business savvy even if they're brilliant technicians. Also, they might stick around in the same area where average pay for their trade is much lower instead of trying somewhere else. The local union by me pays electricians about $35/hr the second they get their Jman card, but 45 minutes north of me they pay them $41/hr. When I ask them why they don't try and move there instead it's always "I have a house/kid/school/whatever here so I'm tied down"
There's a lot of potential money in trades, especially in electrical if you can find a niche, but moving into management and/or ownership will always make you more money. Not everyone can do it though like I said before

          Anonymous

          >$35 starting pay when they hit Jman
That’s the same as the union I applied to. You in Florida? It’s a shit state for electrician pays from what I’ve read but I was either going to transfer halfway through my apprenticeship or move once it’s done if I can find a place I actually like where the pay is good too.
          >ownership
That’s my longterm goal. I figure after I get masters I’ll explore that route. I already have experience running and building peoples businesses ground up from my past jobs so I know I will be pretty successful, or at least very comfortable financially.

Nothing against manual labor folks but in my experience they’re almost all the same. Generally room temperature IQs, marry an average girl and then cheat on her repeatedly but she keeps taking him back, most weekends spent drinking cheap beer and working on a car or fishing on their boat, zero sense of how to invest their money or save for retirement so they’re always buying new useless shit, convinced their jobs are important because they “build something”, and can’t have a conversation about anything other than Trump, guns, or how much they hate blacks. Just my experience.

The point is I'm stronger than gymrats you idiot. He struggled with the work from the offset. The first task he would do in the morning would be extremely difficult for him because he is weak despite all the hours in the gym. On a side note, I once did a job at a gym and there was a barbell loaded up to 275 lbs sitting on the ground. I have never deadlifted a barbell in my life and was curious if I could do it, so I went over and banged out 10 easy reps before getting back to work. Idk how long it takes to get to 275x10 on deadlift from the gym, but the work I have done since 2014 made it laughably easy. Also my hands and gingers are probably stronger than like 98% of gym guys who don't do reL work
