i have literally never trained harder in my life and have been fasting / avoiding fried/greasy foods for the past month, but ive gained like 4lb. what the frick guys
im doing high intensity interval training 6 days a week, lifting 3 days a week, drinking a shit load of water, and skipping a meal here and there. what gives?
you're eating too many calories.
man thats crazy to me im definitely scaling and weighing out all my food and calculating my macros :/
i usually do a protein shake for breakfast, chicken salad for lunch, and 3/4 cup brown rice, chicken breast, and black beans for dinner. im barely cracking 1500 calories. maybe this is too little for a 6' 200lb man that works out intensely. am i starving my body and not getting the macros i need to fuel the process of weight loss ?
>I swear I'm gaining weight while eating 1500 calories
You are eating vastly more than 1500 calories per day. If you were eating 1500 calories daily and never deviating you'd be losing weight every single week, especially if you were working out as you claim.
shit i guess ill cut more, but im literally only eating 2 portioned meals a day idek how to eat less
I doubt that. You're consuming far more fat or carbs than you either claim or think you are.
my intake looks like this
breakfast: protein shake (1 cup almond milk, 2 scoops protein powder)
lunch: chicken salad
dinner: 3/4 cup brown rice, 6oz chicken breast, and a cup or two of black beans (i often leave some on the plate)
any pointers? where should i cut or what should i be doing. ive been avoiding all fried food and the only carbs im eating is the brown rice basically
might be the copium talking, but i think the scale is reflecting the muscle ive put on
You are not gaining weight while working out and only eating 1500 calories per day. Full stop. If you eat less than your TDEE you lose weight.
How many calories in the almond milk you're drinking?
How many calories in the salad dressing on your salad?
Are you sure you're not just here lying on the internet?
almond milk is 80 calories a cup, i go light on the dressing so less than the 94cal serving. im measuring pretty meticulously and making my own food. i am trying my best to be honest with my IST bros and myself so i can actually get shredded. what do i gain from sperging out on the internet and lying
i have had a suspicion about a hormonal disorder because i grow like no body hair, literally low test. im moving in a month so im going to get a new doctor and see whats up
im glad someone can relate to this. i bulked for about a year and put on a lot of good weight, but this cut is just not fricking with me
You are probably constipated, have you also not taken a shit in a couple weeks?
again, not OP, but i was constipated the last few days so i ate like 200 calories in fritos and cheez its to grease my insides a little bit and it helped lol i think eating way too much lean protein caused it
are your lifts getting stronger? on a weekly basis, or is it taking a while?
yeah, id say i’m consistently going up with weights. recently hit 55lb dumb bell press actually
baby wieghts
If this is actually your diet, the only explanation is that you have some kind of hormonal disorder. You should definitely go see a doc and have your test levels checked.
The only other explanation is if you're retaining water, but that's too much weight fluctuation to be likely unless you were dehydrated and took a dump before your first weigh in, and downed half a gallon before your last.
Not OP but i had the same issue with losing for the first 6 weeks or so, and then the last 2-3 weeks i dropped 5lbs or so. admittedly i drank way too much and didn't cut my calories enough but i definitely was in a deficit.
is it possible that because fat carries more calories than fat that it being burned could lead to increased weight when lifting heavy?
is that 3/4 cup rice dry or cooked
big difference in calorie content right there
dry. should i kms?
yeah probably
So breakfast is 250-350 kcal
Lunch is anywhere between 100-500 kcal
Dinner is 500+280+230/460 (for one/two cups respectively). You need to measure better.
Even without adding calorie heavy dressings/seasonings, you can easily hit 2200 kcal a day with your diet.
And if you eat packaged foods, remember that nutrition labels mislead and lie as much as they can.
This dude eats rice and wonders why he's gaining weight. Kek
I hit a plateau for what felt like forever and it was mostly because of my portions of carbs like rice. Nothing wrong with rice as long as you don't overdo it.
Skip breakfast, drink black coffee
Chicken salad or a salad with chicken in it? If the former, cut that shit out right now, if the latter, you’re cheese and dressing is probably way more than you’re calculating.
rice means carbs, stop. Chicken or other white proteins/fish and green vegetables.
Also, you’re not doing enough cardio. Workout to maintain a heart rate in theb160-170 BPM range for an hour daily, not cover a distance.
Are you measuring your food with a scale?
Wtf buddy, 1500 calories is a small meal, how do you eat that in day
Add pop and stuff to your meals
>1500 calories is a small meal
It's half a fricking little caesars pepperoni pizza.
Says there's 1600 calories in a large baconator combo...... usually leaves me feeling hungry
i’ve read maintenance for my height and weight is like 2200-2500 so i’m trying to cut enough to lose at least 1lb a week, but maybe i’m overdoing it?
nah i be shitting
If you are working out, and 200 lbs, your maintenance calorie numbers should be 3000+
no frickin way dude that’s insane. should i cut to 2500 then to lose weight in this scenario? is it possible im under eating and my body is conserving fat as an energy source?
nah that cant be accurate. i work out 6 days a week (not a ton of cardio but 3-4x for 30-60 min) and 3kcal would make me fat. it has to be closer to 2200-2500 for someone 200-210
I am eating 1200 to 1500 calories per day right now, I rarely have any hunger.
eat less u moron
>man thats crazy to me im definitely scaling and weighing out all my food and calculating my macros :/
Be specific about your macros and calories and activity levels. All other then that is just speculation that will lead to the wrong conclusions because you are leaving out the details that actually matters
yeah bro you are eating too little thats totally why you are not losing weight bro that's literally the cheat code africans do to defeat hunger
no wonder they are all so fricking fat its because they dont eat you nailed it man phew how has no one ever though of this before? should win a noble prize
Based
This is a lie. You're not. You're measuring shit incorrectly and/or then slathering on mayo or other bullshit and pretending like it's not.
Yep.
>im definitely scaling and weighing out all my food and calculating my macros
You're clearly a mathlet then.
You're eating too much, obviously. moron.
nattybros I don't feel so good
idk if im high off copium but i feel incredibly thin and can see my abs coming in, and maybe im just seeing the weight of my mooscles ?? cope or rope ? ? ?
You *can* improve your body composition without a huge change in weight. Think about it: if you weren't that fat to begin with and you're maintaining or even adding muscle mass how much excess weight did you really have to lose in the first place? And 4 pounds either way means nothing, if you worked up a sweat and took a shit that probably shaves off 4 pounds right there.
There's really no reason to worry about exactly how much you weigh unless you have a weigh-in to make. The absolute number is irrelevant. If you look better than you used to then mission accomplished
that makes sense. im gonna keep it up and see what happens
i guess its possible im measuring incorrectly, but definitely not doing mayo, sweets, greasy, or fried foods, or anything crazy like that
you are eating more than you think you are
sometimes eating too little for too long results in your tdee dropping and knocking you into a surplus
consistently under eating is as bad/worse than consistently overeating
Probably gainin muscle
iktf bro, people will talk to you on here like you're some dumb foid eating Twinkies on the side and not an autist counting every single calorie. Whenever I hit that plateau, I begin fasting every other day for like a week.
ya man i’m really busting my ass over here, but i’ll take all the comments as advice given in good faith. ill give it another month with my current routine and see what happens and adjust from there. thanks for the input bros, the cooked vs uncooked rice comment especially
News flash people fricking lie
Skinny people overestimate how much they eat. Obese people underestimate how much they eat. Both groups will lie about it on surveys its a well studied thing.
The real secret is that diets and strenous workouts don't instantly make you skinny. Habits over time change your body.
A diet and consistent exercise is a habit
he said hes been attempting for a month. He needs time
well really i was a skinny bastard, bulked for about a year, am pretty huge, and i just wanna get shredded now. im like 4 weeks into my attempt at cutting, which is why i’m pissy about the 4lb. i must be doing something wrong
>mysterious weight gain
>while eating *significant* deficit
>and training consistently
OP has an impacted bowel
You are probably gaining muscles, if its not your goal cut the lifting from your schedule, if your goal is to loose weight, cut calories, simple as that.
your not eating enough naturally raised meat and animal organs
also chicken meat is bullshit and bad for you
stick to beef and lamb
>chicken meat is bullshit and bad for
True, objectively. Chickens are machines that eat bugs for us and produce eggs. They're a perfect machination which metabolizes a pest into usable nutrition. You can use them to keep crops of some major threats without pesticides. Certain birds even eat ticks, and you can clear all the ticks out of a field in a single season.
We just shouldn't be eating the meat all the time.
interesting but what i ment was chickens and pigs accumulate linoleic acid when they are fed foods high in that fatty acid. Things like corn and onions or seed oils are all most chickens eat and it doesnt leave there bodies so you eat it too

nice instagram link braindead homosexual
Are you measuring how much oil or butter you use when cooking chicken and beans
no oil or butter
i do skip breakfast and drink black coffee, and i suppose a salad with chicken in it. no cheese, light dressing if any. i’ve tried going 0 carb but i started getting massive headaches when lifting, so i implemented brown rice (i heard it’s a healthier carb) into my diet, but i’ll do less. i do hiit every day, so i think i’m good on the cardio front at least
>nutrition labels mislead and lie
so how the frick am i supposed to cook
Eat fresh foods instead of industrial food product. And be wise about the tricks that they use to make the labels more attractive. Like foods being advertised as low calories because the listed serving size is small. Or the difference between the packed kcal and actual kcal after you have added other ingredients to prepare the item.
Nutrition label lying is more of an issue with hyperprocessed garbage like cereals, and less so with packaged rice and the like. Just beware of the tricks they pull.
>have been fasting / avoiding fried/greasy foods for the past month
okay whats your point moron? im LITERALLY cutting eating pizza, mcdonalds and ben & jerry pints. why? because ON AVERAGE I eat 2000kcal a day while my TDEE is >2500
Some days I might eat 2500kcal but because I did 20k steps my TDEE was over 3000kcal and I still lost weight. You are literally just calculating wrong. You are overestimating/underestimating the amount of exercise you do and what your TDEE is and since you didn't mention a single thing about calories I know for a 100% fact that you are calculating your calories wrong because you are not calculating them at all. Use Myfitnesspal and track EVERYTHING you eat. Realize that even a drop of olive oil has >50kcal, if you cook eggs, food etc. couple times a day that can easily be in the ~100-200 range of calories that you were completely oblivious to.
You're eating too much.
>but ive gained like 4lb
How is your body looking? You most likely gained muscles and look better anyway
Try to lower your calorie amount and you'll lose weight
my obliques / top abs are coming in which is sick i’ve never seen em before. it probably is just muscle. going by the number on the scale does seem a bit arbitrary in that light
If you're really measuring correctly, just keep it up. I ate 1 meal a day and only started losing weight after 2 weeks, weight dropped like crazy after 2 weeks though.
