Do ohp in the smith machine rack and then once fatigued use the dumbbells. Its moronic as frick having to curl 100s up for each set so I can use like 75s or something and not have to hype myself to curl that shit above my head. Also good to include for your stabilizers.
I use the shoulder press machine instead, it's more comfortable and feels better/safe on the shoulders.
I've tried using dumbbells and barbells but they just feel awful for shoulders.
I actually like these a lot. It's about having the right mind / muscle connection while doing them. What was really a game changer for me was using an adjustable bench and putting it down a notch or two, so I was slightly declined back and then as I raise the dumbells, I thinking about bringing my inner elbows to my ears.
I also see these as a heavy, compound movement, so I like to do them while I'm relatively fresh at the gym and can push myself. They're the first exercise I do when I hit shoulders. I do some minor stretching and dead hangs before, then do a warm up set with about 75% the weight I want to get to for 10-12 reps and then hit my goal weight for 6-8 reps for 2-3 sets after. Every once in a while, I'll toss in a machine press for variety, but I don't get the same pump as with dumbbells.
Plus, it gives a mental boost physically seeing yourself flexed with big dumbells above your head.
Does anyone know optimal angle for delts? I feel like 90 degrees hits mostly my traps but if I go down to 80 it's all of a sudden working my back. Neither is what I would expect or desire
If it matters im going about as heavy as i can
Then do a different lift?

Drop the way to little bit just add two or three extra reps.
then use a barbell instead
They despise you too
nobody needs to train front delt, all it needs is stretching and rest

I tried shoulder machines but it had a very weird motion path that kept twisting my shoulder
>mogs all OHP variations
>gives nice upper chest without wrecking your rotator cuffs
heh nothing personnel kiddo
Look gay like your lifting the trunk of a man elephant to smooch its lips
why doesn't your picture show the shoulders being active muscles at all?
oh YEEEEESSSS, MOREEEEEEEE, BETTER ISOLATION OF MUSCLE THAT NEEDS 2 THINGS ONLY:
REST AND STRETCH
BOT, U R STILL IGNORING ME, I WONDER WHY (not) xD
Interesting lift. Will give that one a try tmr thanks anon

Kek
But seriously though let’s not be racist.
irreversibly fricked my right shoulder doing these with 40kgs years ago. Never again. Now I only do hammer strength or smith machine press
BOT, U'RE IGNORING ME
NOBODY FRICKING NEEDS TO TRAIN FRONT DELT
They do, I do aswell, my front delts are under developed while my rear and sides are overdeveloped from lateral raises and face pulls.
>The advantage of dumbells is that you can achieve higher range of motion
>people still do shorter range of motion that they would even with a barbell
why, especially benching
it's easier to do bigger numbers when you don't full rom, ego essentially
Jannies can't ban racist post with dubs

They are my favorite by far
I love doing them standing. Just swing the weights up to starting position, then GO
frick, what did I miss?
Racism
mfw someone is being racist
I fricking love these because it shames the dyels using the smiths machine to ohp half the same weight
