I like alcohol but as soon as I'm done with my last bottle of Japanese whisky (which was pricey) I'll quit, because even if it's fun and delicious, it is poison. You should do the same. If you feel like drinking in the evenings, you should go to the gym and lift heavy instead. It completely wipes out the cravings.

I hope you're drinking Yamazaki, which is the only correct answer. Well, Hakushu gets 2nd place, I'll accept that as well.

Good on you, OP. No booze life is good life. There's better drugs out there if you need modified consciousness once in a while. Keep improving.

    >just one more snack
    >just one more cigarette
    >just one more energy drink
    >just one more bottle of whisky
No. Now. You're already coping. Throw out the bottle right now.
    >muh money
    >I paid for the poison so I will drink the poison
Sounds like a fat heifer that can't stop eating their slop.
    >you should do the same
You haven't even quit yet and you're telling others what to do?
    Ya fackin' hypocrite op
THERE IS NO LATER. THERE IS NO TOMORROW. THERE IS ONLY NOW AND WHAT YOU DECIDE IN THIS. FRICKING. MOMENT.
    QUIT.
    NOW.
Or accept you don't have the balls to actually quit and just like flirting with the idea of realising your true potential.

It's unfortunately why I'm still smoking weed. The only way to quit is cold turkey, chuck your shit. But I paid a lot for it so why don't i just finish it, then I'll quit.

I've quit several times before, but this year I haven't had a drink since February. It's been my longest streak so far. I've had many opportunities and urges where I could've drank this year like fishing trips, work outings, etc., but I just can't find any reason to drink anymore. There are way more negatives than positives when it comes to drinking.. even if I only have like 1 drink a month or something, there's just no point. I do still miss it and think about knocking back a few shots and going for a bike ride or playing some vidya every now and then, but then I start thinking "Do I really have to rely on this substance to have a good time? I'll feel tired, anxious, and dehydrated later, and I might have a hangover and ruin my day if I start drinking, it's not worth it"

Everyone is different and I don't judge or have anything against anybody who drinks or smokes though because I used to do all those things. Sorry I'm just ranting.. If anyone has questions for an anon who used to drink, smoke weed and cigarettes, watch porn and eat fast food every day but no longer does any of that shit and is 100% sober now, I'd be happy to answer anything.

I am starting to get worried about my drinking habits but I don't feel ready to quit. How did you know it was the right time?

I'll be turning 30 this year and came to the conclusion that I wanted to leave this last bad habit of mine in my 20s. I already quit everything else a couple years ago, and this was the last bad habit that I did, so why not.

I quit several times before throughout my 20s and every time I had a different reason for quitting, but one reason would always stick out more than the others.. That reason was that I didn't want to rely on a substance in order to enjoy life. Why must I need this liquid in order to have fun? I kept thinking back to when I was a kid.. I didn't need this shit to have a good time, so why did I need it now?

To answer your question more specifically though.. The right time to quit drinking was a long time ago. If you are having any thoughts on quitting drinking at all, then it's probably a good idea to go ahead and quit.

        >I am starting to get worried about my drinking habits but I don't feel ready to quit

Ultimately it's up to you to judge when it becomes a problem in your life. Does it affect your workouts? You mood? Your sleep? Your relationships? Your job? If drinking doesn't affect any of these in the slightest, that's great. But realistically everything can be much better than it is now if you don't drink. And why wait for alcohol to get the chance to ruin anything in your life in the first place?

The longer you wait until you "feel ready" the harder it's going to be to quit. If we all just waited around to do something until we felt like doing it, nothing would get done trust me. There's many days I don't wanna fricking workout or run a 10k, but I know I will feel worse if I don't do what I know is right.

thanks bros. I pretty much only drink socially, but I definitely am planning on cutting back and not surrounding myself with the crowd who encourages it as much. One thing I know about myself is that I am extremely susceptible to peer pressure and during periods where I don't spend time with people who drink, I don't.

One thing you can start working on is being more sure of yourself. Basically start setting rules and guidelines for yourself to follow. Each day that goes by that you didn't do something that you deem is degenerate, you'll feel better. Enough days go by and you'll be stacking confidence so that no matter what situation you're in and what other people are doing, you wont follow them.

I easily go to many events now (work outings, fishing trips, bands playing at breweries) and don't even care or give the slightest thought about drinking even when everyone around me sluggin back the liquids. I can't tell you how many times mofos come up to me and comment on me not drinking. But because I'm so sure of myself, it doesn't affect me in the slightest. I'm never anxious or anything when I'm around people who drink because I know what I'm doing is right and that I will feel much better because of it. Do I judge them for drinking though and try to convert them? Nope. Why worry about other people and shit that's outside of your control? But they are a good reminder that I'll get a good nights sleep and not feel like shit later on or the next day.

    Why finish the bottle?
I stopped drinking a while ago but, still buy nice liquor. I like to keep it in the house because it let's me know that I'm choosing to NOT drink it. I'm choosing to do better things with my time.
I have tons of really tasty stuff in the cabinet, too. I might have a drink with my eggnog at christmas but I'm done with it.
Recently bought about a grand worth of Chartreuse because the shit is gone and I want to try at some point in my life. Still unopened.
Otherwise, I hunt for rare-ish burbons and give to friends.

I got intoxicated (tipsy, not yet drunk) for the first time in my life a month ago and it was terrible. Normies actually pay for this shit? The only benefit was that I felt more socially "in"

Also, I think I have an intolerance to alcohol. Now that I've tried it I feel more secure in saying no
