I need help with sleep

I really need to know how to sleep like my younger self again.
I don't really get that much sleep, when I was a teenager, I used to sleep for 10 to 11 and even more hours, now I can only sleep for 5 or 6 hours.
I hate this.
I need to know to improve my sleep, I feel worse.
Please help.

Put your phone down. No technology after 7 PM. Read. Drink night time tea. I swear you do this for a week and problem solved. You'll wake up feeling like a million bucks.

Do I gotta have a consistent specific time where I go to bed?

Yes. This is by far the most important element. Also have some kind of rituals you do before sleep, doesn't matter what they are. If you go to sleep everyday on a specific time, and for example, shower and brush your teeth just before bed, you will condition yourself into sleeping immediately afterwards

          Rotating shift bros... It's over

It probably is, unless you can condition yourself to sleep on some cues. Like, after you dress in pajamas, brush your teeth and pack your lunch for the next day, that's when you go to sleep and there are NO exceptions to this rule.
No changing the order, no browsing 4chins on your phone while in bed. I never was on rotating shift, but this could work

      The issue isn't this.
When I was younger I could sleep anytime I want for a shit ton of hours.
      It was unconditional.
      Now I struggle

Well sure maybe the detail can help.
          I am in college.
I don't currently go to the gym.
I don't take drugs or supplements.
My diet is just normal, I don't eat anything unhealthy.
Barely any fast food. If not non at all.
          Rarely eat snacks.
I do eat fruit and vegetables, sometimes eggs on breakfast and shit and the typical cheese.

That's because you were younger. Now you aren't and you have more trouble because you are not in high school anymore, and in a few decades you will have even more trouble when your prostate inflates like a balloon and you gotta wake up twice every night to go to take a piss. So listen to what people are telling you and get some sleep hygiene if you wanna go from sleeping 5-6 h to 8.

I sometimes can sleep the amount I used to when I was young.
          But that's kind of rare.
Is it possible to even to achieve this amount anymore?

No, you bum. When you are a teen you can sleep 11h non-stop because your body is going through the metabolically expensive process of taking you from being a little fragile baby to a big, burly, strong man. That is too the reason why babies can sleep 16h or so every day.
So no. Welcome to adulthood, now fix your sleep schedule and and get your eight hours.

Ok but how come some people my age can sleep up to 10? How do they do it?

I don't know man, there are a thousand variables behind that. Some people just kinda stay like that. And why would you want to? It's a huge hindrance for when you gotta get a job and you wake up feeling like shit after 8 hours of sleep and needing 2 hours of walking around like a zombie until you start feeling like a person again.

I never felt really bad after 10 hours of sleep, I just feel it's the optimal amount for me

My sleep got fixed after fixing my vitamins and minerals.
Took me years to realize but serum vitamins and minerals aren't equal to your tissue saturation of them and thats why as a child even with shit diet you are full of vitamins and minerals but as you grow older without an optimal and natrural diet you deplete them, its a very very slow process, but it takes a toll on everything from my experience.
    >tldr eat healthy and you will feel like a kid again in every way

Drinking alcohol and too much coffee can drain you out of your micros.
Hell even exercise does, if you exercise a lot keep that in mind.
            Also stress or anxiety.

    Get out more neet boy.
I have a theory that people that don't get social/mental stimulation during the day don't wind up sleeping well. Even in the absence of normal light cycle (alaska) and regular exercise slept fine as long as I was getting out. The worst sleep I ever got was remote work and staying home too much. I don't care if you have to go to the library or cafe to read or do your neet posting just get out of your house.

Your circadian rhythm is largely affected by when you eat. If you eat at the same time each day, you'll feel tired at the same time each day.

Cardio exercise will also help feel tired and fall asleep, as well as avoiding bright screens while you are in bed. I'm quitting coffee for this reason, am working through my last bin of grounds. It messes with my sleep schedule.

As for being your "younger self" that is just self-defeating thinking. Your present and future self can be an improvement from the past. Instead of striving for the past, it is better to work towards a better future.

I like to give helpful advice because I enjoy helping other people. It feels much better to give something of value than to receive. I hope you find a solution to your sleeping problems, I'm going to get some sleep myself now. Was searching this site for one good post to post in before passing out. God bless.

      Thanks man.
I'd also like to note that maybe it's because my sleeping time was way more consistent when I was younger.
