Take it easy with those roids Mike, I barely go twice a week if that, though sometimes I complement it by home exercises. Would be pretty embarrassing to have a long-lost twin who went to the gym 6 times a week.

What's HIT in a nutshell? Just pick one exercise per muscle group and do one set of each to failure until you cry tears of blood and you do that twice per week?
Am I missing something (other than the roids and meth)?

I read his book and don't buy it. No way you can do in 2 hours, once a week, what everyone else is doing with 8-10 hours over a week.

I think he was lying to sell books, he doesn't even seem to mention warmup sets. just lifts a huge amount 6 times, over a few compound lifts, and goes home...?

There are a million ways to build muscle and most of them are suboptimal especially if you're roiding the like 2 hours a day 6 day a week roidmonkeys.

Hypertrophy training is literally idiot proof, of course you can yield results with HIT. I have no issue with the debate of "what is optimal" but anyone saying "it doesn't work" is a legit moron.

you cant. But the difference is minimal enough that its not worth the 4× time investment. Granted Mentzer takes it one step further and says all that extra time and volume actually reduces your gains which is not scientifcally backed at a but it remains true that unless you are competing you shouldnt really be spending all those hours in the gym.

It's the idea that less exercises/reps at a higher load yield better results

        [...]
There is a video were he talks about meeting Dorian Yates and he says that while he preached it he did more exercises but he could go back in time he would do less lol

I mean it was the 80's. No competitive sport still follow training regimen built 40 years ago. IMO, he was right on track but knowledge evolved a lot and you'll get better results following guys like John Meadows, Scott Stevenson, Dante Trude and Jordan Peters

Muscle isn't built while you're lifting. It's built while you're resting. What would lead you to think that taking less rest would build more muscle?

Train hard to absolute failure (concentric failure followed by assisted reps if you have a partner, concentric, isometric and eccentric failure if you don't)

Rest until you reach full systemic recovery (usually 4-8 days for a natty, could take longer depending on lifestyle and genetics)

Get a hobby outside of the gym to fill the other 6 days a week. Based Mike literally recommends touching grass and having sex.

      Repeat.

Enjoy life and the optimal gains that follow.

Literally impossible for the average ISTizen to do that who is a lonely incel. Even lowering his gym days is risky enough since they have nothing else going on

This is the absolute dumbest shit I've ever read. Unless you're doing 12 second eccentrics for 3 reps you're achieving no where near the proper amount of tension in your muscle to grow.

                Who is it then?

Height makes no aesthetical difference unless you have stunningly longer legs in proportion to the manlet

This amount of cope is just sad. It's objectively true that height is a key part of aesthetics. No amount of manlet 3-icnh ROM reps will change that, stumpy.

Reminder that they wouldn't even air this Olympia because it was so controversial. I love old school Arnold, but regardless of Mentzer's placing the judging was beyond nerfed. One of the more obvious cases of politics in a sport.

History will always associate Mentzer as the little ball of rage who lost and took his ball home while crying. Hilarious he died seething about something that happened 30 years ago.
