    Being able to implement your knowledge of laws to win arguments problem solving investigating

    Also be able to lack empathy and show a great deal of patience when dealing with perps

    Like i said more mental than anything

    Study a lot of law and maybe you can end up being a prosecutor when your older or something

        You know he's joking right. He doesn't actually want OP to beat his wife. He's just referencing the disproportionately high percentage of U.S. cops who have been charged with domestic abuse. I don't remember what the number was, but it was crazy. I wanna say 50%, but I don't want to look stupid, so I'll lowball it and say 20% of U.S. cops have been charged with domestic/spousal abuse.

          It all comes from 2 biased studies that inflated the rate by defining "domestic abuse" as saying hurtful things and yelling. They then lumped that into the same category as violence. An often unknown part of this study is that the cops' wives were also given this same survey and found to be more "abusive" than the cops in that both a higher percentage of the women met the minimum qualification for being considered "abusive" and that they were considered "more abusive" because they started arguments more.

          Probably cops have the same rate of actual domestic violence as the military or any other group of people that have imposing their will on others as a major part of their life.

    Tailor your workouts to whatever stage of the application process you're in.
    >find out the fitness test for your desired agency
    >use that test as the skeleton for your routine
    >add other shit to cover and muscles you aren't hitting

    My department's PAT test is a minimum of 15 pushups in a minute, a minimum of 34 sit-ups in a minute, a mile and a half run in 15 minutes, and a 300m sprint in 65 seconds. My routine has been:
    >circuit of pushups, band curls, band tricep extensions, band standing rows, and pull-ups for 60 seconds each, 3 rounds
    >circuit of sit-ups, bicycle crunches, and hanging leg raises for 60 seconds each, 3 rounds
    >a 12 minute mile and a half, followed by another mile and a half at whatever pace is comfortable
    >finish with a 300m sprint as fast as I can go on a track/as fast as the treadmill will let me
    I've hard-focused on doing that every day. Remember, you have to not only beat the minimum, you also have to beat as many other applicants as possible. Same when you get to the academy. Take a break from any martial arts and lifting until you pass your PAT test, then start up again and hit that shit HARD to prep for academy. You will most likely have at least one day of training that involves a knockdown drag-out fistfight that will not stop until the instructor says time's up.

    If you want actual useful advice I'd mostly focus on not being fat and doing cardio. When I went through the academy I had to do 40 push ups, around 30 sit ups, and run a mile and a half in a little under 12 minutes. So it would be a good idea to do push ups and sit ups all the time and regularly run.

    Once you're actually on the job I would be sure to do regular cardio. Everyone hates cardio and that's one of several reasons cops tend to get fat-- they get comfortable and stop exercising or if they do exercise they totally abandon cardio because it sucks.

    Also, any martial arts class with actual sparring would be fantastic, but Judo, jiujitsu, and wrestling are the best for your job. I can't wrestle for shit and end up beating people which means I have to then sit with them at the hospital for several hours and do a bunch of paperwork that could have all been avoided if I had better grappling skills.

      >run 5k every weekday (forefoot strike only to build your calves and avoid knee issues, plus you’ll be faster)
      >100mx15 sprints on Saturday or Sunday
      A day
      >200 push ups
      >100 pull ups
      >500-1000 sit ups
      >100 jump squats
      >100 jump lunges
      B day (broken into splits)
      b day chest split
      >flat bench 3x10
      >ohp 3x10
      >incline bench 3x10
      >decline bench 3x10
      >flies 3x10
      b day leg
      >squats 3x10
      >front squats 3x10
      >lunges 3x10
      >deadlift 3x10
      b day back and arms
      >bent over row 3x10
      >pull downs 3x10
      >curls 3x10
      >skull crushers 3x10
      >close grip ohp/military press 3x10
      Then do 2-3 hours a night of the following martial arts in the following order of importance to the job;
      >bjj for subduing Black folk on the ground
      >wrestling and/or judo for throwing Black folk to the ground
      >boxing and/or muay thai for punching Black folk in the face when they don’t want to get on the ground
      Also go to a range once a week and run at least 100 rounds of your service weapon and whatever rifle or shotgun you tote in your car.
      I did all this so don’t say it’s impossible, and I beat the frick out of people all the time so don’t say it’s pointless or wrong.

    obviously you should train to crush your PT tests, so start with whatever they use.

    I’m sure you knew that though, and are referring to how you should train to actually do the job the best. You should be:
    Lifting to get strong af
    Doing Martial Arts (preferably grappling like BJJ or Wrestling, but a little bit of striking is good too for defense)
    Running (and sprinting)
    and most importantly, Shooting.

    A lot of the skills you need as an officer are difficult to directly train of course, like situational awareness, deescalation, and command presence.

    General conditioning, some basic judo / jiu jitsu / wrestling, maintaining healthy bodyweight.

    99 percent of the time, you don't need to fight anyone. If you do need to fight someone, you generally have your partner there or multiple people, if you don't have multiple people you can generally stall or avoid the situation with good judgment.
    But if you're in for a fricked up day then you want to he sure you're on your game.

    Most people don't fight you to hurt you, they just want to get away. It's up to you to play the odds.

      I heard once you finish the academy it's required to let a rabbi suck you off like they do at yeshivas in order to get your badge number and you have to practice mesira while a judge shoves a gavel up your ass and makes you recite rabbinical law according to the talmud.     Main press: Overhead press. Functional pressing requires recruiting the whole kinetic chain behind you for anything outside of bodybuilding or being on bottom in jiujitsu

    Main Pull: Weighted chinups. Simple reasoning here. It recruits the most muscle mass and demands the most adaptation.

    Main squat: Bulgarian split squats
    They still allow respectable progressive overload, and more directly carry over to sprinting, but most importantly the're very forgiving on your lower back which will be plagued with less-than-ideal motor patterns and cumulative kinds of fatigue both from being a police officer, but also from the main focus of your training.

    Judo. At least one session per week. Learn to control and throw a motherfricker while avoiding getting controlled and thrown. Jiujitsu is acceptable as well but less ideal for these specific demands of this job.

    2x per month sessions at the firing range,

    1 HIIT sprinting session per week

    Upper body isolations for hypertrophy and intimidation factor.

    in general though cops exist to protect banks and insurance companies and are not even obligated to help or protect you
