From personal experience and reddit posts it's obvious that the real number of people affected is higher. You might not get full blown ED but lower libido. Unfortunately it started slow and finally has ED symptoms and had to stop. Didn't take very long to reverse it after quitting though.
The issue is we don't even know enough about how hormones work, let alone a long-life hormonal treatment. Go to any professional endocrinologist, some straight say it's a bad idea, and others will say "Well, in theory, it shouldn't affect you badly" but even those won't take it themselves.

You don't need finasteride after a transplant in most cases. The transplanted hairs are dht resistant hairs. It's suggested for overall maintenance, or to stop further hairloss in areas the hair hasn't been transplanted to in which you still might recede.
