      It’s this, and the fact they just don’t want to take accountability for what they shove in their face. I’m convinced the concept of a calorie is extremely misunderstood amongst average people and most everyone who’s not fitpilled has no clue what their daily calorie range should be. People just vaguely label food as either healthy or non healthy, they don’t bother looking into specifics. I’ve seen a coworker who’s tried to lose weight shovel away spoonfuls of peanut butter with her lunch because she heard once “peanut butter is actually good for you and has protein!”, without any clue she just took in an extra 1000 unnecessary calories. And those are the people who will say “I can’t lose weight no matter what I do”.

          100 grams of protein is 400 calories and you absorb about 70% of those calories

          100 grams of carbs is 400 calories and you absorb about 85% of those calories

          So if you want to maximise low body fat your diet would be

          High protein
          Moderate carb
          Low fat

          These macros are the most thermodynamic for the calories consumed.

          This would translate to something like

          200g protein (800 calories)
          150g carbs (600 calories)
          75g fats (675 calories)
          Total calories: 2125

          That person would have a shredded body at 2125 calories

          If they wanted to bulk they can simply increase calories by adding carbs
