TL;DR: the leg press is a shitty, coping exercise. Unless you legitimately have back problems.
I have hip problems and suck ass at squat, can only do 235 for 5x5. I like leg press because it makes my quads sore as shit without my hip burning.

He won't, I occasionally do deadlifts (RDL) but it's literally true that all lifts can be substituted for different ones and deadlifts fatigue the frick out of you which can be a concern.
I love deadlifts but he is right, you essentially get no real muscle gain with deadlifts, there are elite level powerlifters weighing 170 lbs and deadlift over 600 lbs, someone benching a lot or squatting a lot also usually is bigger than that, it's a cns adaption exercise, it trains your forarms and neck good tho.
