If your body naturally adapts to any chemical changes by lowering what it finds in excess, doesn't that mean all supplements are short lasting at best as your body eventually adapts and returns to homeostasis, and counterproductive at worst because your body will stop producing chemicals and shit it finds in excess meaning if you stop taking a supplement your body will produce even less of the chemical than before you took it?

Essential vitamins aren't produced in the body.
Protein and fat store some vitamins but not all.
Things like collagen don't get produced in the body.
Or things like Vitamin D production get turned on when certain factors are met.
When sun hits your skin it breaks something apart, which creates vitamin D, or when you fast for a quantity of time, HGH production is ramped up heavily.

Supplements are limited by how well they are absorbed by the body, and if they are created by the body, like testosterone, the body might reduce its own production.

But there are plenty of ways to trigger production of whatever it is that you're deficient in. Or ways to increase your intake of things that your body can't produce.

a whole subset of disease (collagen vascular diseases) exist because of faulty production of this protein

Isn't the point of supplements to take what it is you are lacking so that your body can sustain homeostasis? Supplements are a broad category though so of course it varies.

i feel this is why creatine is a scam. your body produces creatine naturally so would supplementing it not tell your body to stop producing it?

      >your body produces creatine naturally so would supplementing it not tell your body to stop producing it?
Yeah, but that's a good thing because creatine is made out of glycine, it uses up most of your bodies glycine. When you take creatine the glycine your body makes can be used for other beneficial purposes instead.

Same thought crossed my head and I think you have a point. Stuff like turmeric I’m assuming stays effective but anything that can actually raise your test- ie tongkat ali- I don’t see why your body wouldn’t adapt to it and your test levels would return to their baseline

You're supposed to take things you're deficient on. Your body needs a certain amount of lets say vitamin d, if it doesnt have enough it will simply slow down it's metabolism until it can get vitamin d again. If you start supplementing your body will have optimal amounts of vitamind d, therefore the metabolism increases up to what it's supposed to be at. What you say, happens only if the hypothetical moron takes a supplement he doesnt need.

Anyway, your post screams "I'm thinking while missing the whole picture" which I do often. Not going to proof read a thing, I hope what I said's correct.

OP you have a good reasoning skills, but guess what? Shit doesn't work like that. And why exactly? Well the scientists spent last hundred years trying to explain it. I can't explain why you are wrong in a short manner so I'll just say this: biochemistry of a human body is very very complicated, and shit happens along the way that makes it behave in a way that seems contrary to logic. It's obvious you are a curious person, so just start reading books about chemistry, then move on to biochemistry. It's interesting stuff bro, don't be lazy read up.

    It doesn't, you're oversimplifying a complex process
