I'm 6 ft 3 and 150kg, I have been eating 1,600 calories a day for 3 weeks and actually finding it pretty easy. I actually "enjoy" the hunger because it feels like progress.
However, is that too few calories? Apparently I need 3,075 calories a day to maintain weight, so should I up my daily calories a bit? I've heard being too low on calories will just backfire eventually.

Either you cut by 500 calories or you cut them all out. Dont try to eat 100 cals a day cause that will backfire

Not him but my belief is you can almost never be too low on calories unless you become actual skelly or are temporarily trying to pack on pounds (before losing it again).

Here's the thing: our ancestors ate raw fruit, veg and meat. Those things are tough to eat and sometimes tough to find. What's more we exercised a LOT to get them. Our natural form is skelly to ottermode. The reason why I'm above ottermode is only because it's very hard for me to keep lower in calories.

Being "fat and 40" is a real thing. Your insulin resistance breaks down and you crave more food. What you want to be is skinny to ottermode in your 20s and that will pay off when you hit 40+ and it is quite possible to maintain a skinny physique your entire life, just don't get fat once or you can ruin it.

The main reason why people look worse as they age is changing fat in their faces including totally losing their jawline. Wrinkles and sun damage also, so take care of your skin (slapping tons of chemicals on it every day =/= taking care of it). Now when slightly older people are fat and they lose it and their face looks all loose and they say what I thought you told me my face would look great it's even worse now it's the same thing that has happened as when very obese people lose weight and then have excess skin left over on their belly. Survey after survey show that women prefer ottermode types of guys and not big freaks. I know personally when I'm thinner I have more energy and work a bit harder, I have more discipline.

So in my view it's definitely worth staying on the skinny side if you can. Now, this 1,600 thing isn't going to last forever without you losing tons and tons of weight, you will likely very soon start gorging hard to just be aware of that.

You should try fasting, especially when you get to a weight and body composition where you are not worried about loose skin anymore. Fasting is easier, faster, more muscle sparing and overall better for your health than slow and steady cutting. During prolonged fasts, your HGH goes up, your body experiences autophagy, insulin resistance starts to go down and you don't really feel hungry after a certain time (usually 24 hours or so). Check it out.

          Thanks bros

I hear salty foods quench hunger easier and for longer, so maybe try eating saltier foods

Nah that's good man, keep it up. Research has shown large deficits tend to lead to better long term outcomes. Ignore the idiots saying you need to fast - as if your body magically doesn't downregulate your BMR whilst fasting but does when restricting calories. There is no dichotomy between fasting and restricting calories, it's simply a difference of degree - the same downregulation of hormones/BMR/NEAT happens.

TLDR: Do as large a deficit as you can while eating ~1.6g protein/kg bw.

Imagine, if you will, this fine lady voiding her bladder and wetting her one-piece cotton suit and immediately wearing denim shorts over them without changing or drying off first. Consider the acrid scent gently wafting from her drenched flower just before friends come over for a bonfire or right before she accompanies you out shopping. All the while, she sneaks sultry smirks in your direction, as if her very eyes suggest beam the thought "just you wait until you're pinned under my wet gusset later" directly into your head. She has no shame or regard for herself--only a fixation on submitting herself to you, all the way down to the surrender of basic bodily functions like holding her urine.

3,000 is bullshit. I'm 6'9, go to gym 5 days a week with light cardio, and I'm plateauing around 3k after losing a lot of weight. You want to lose between 1 - 2.5% of your weight a week when seriously dieting, if you're not achieving that, run/swim/move more and/or eat less.

I used to eat sub 500 kcals a day for a couple weeks to drop 20lbs. Lost around 1/2lb a week being sedentary. Went from 220lbs to 195. Not recommended but I was "fine".
