I'm fat (30 BMI, age 22) I don't exercise and I eat as little as possible but have no idea what a "healthy diet" is. At best I just look at the ingredients and avoid anything high in sugar and sodium.

Should I still go to the gym anyway? I know how to lift weights but I'm too moronic and poor to afford lots of food and do calorie counting, and I've heard 80 percent of your diet matters. I just don't want to end up wasting my time if I don't get results.

If your BMI is 30 you can afford food

No, I think I'm just genetically predisposed to being fat. I seriously doubt most people exercise but a lot of them are skinnier than me and probably eat the same foods I do. I don't drink alchohol or soda, however I have gained some weight the past 3 months (28-30 BMI) due to a really bad ankle sprain and being forced out of the house and relying on fast food to survive.

No, you are genetically predisposed to having no discipline and to being a whiny pussy.

Metabolism was found to be about 3-5% difference in weight loss in studies. You need to work out, and you need to have a caloric defecate of 500-1000 calories. Maintaining a schedule is key.

Honestly, just do time restricted eating. You clearly cannot be trusted to feed yourself in a species-appropriate manner, so your best shot is probably to limit the amount of times you abuse your body with whatever slop you stuff yourself with.

Do intermittent fasting, caloric deficit, and be active while you’re fasting. Even if it’s just going for a walk.

If you’re just going for fat loss just eat less and avoid processed foods. If you’re looking to gain some muscle (which you probably should) track your macros. For fat loss it’s 45/25/30 from carbs, protein and fat. Tracking macros will mean you’ll reach your goal quicker

Yes dude. Go-to the gym. Also have your stuff ready so you can roll out of bed and walk for at least 15 min.

Eat 1500 or less calories and drink at least a gallon of water per day. No soda or sugary drinks or junk food.

Do that for 1 month and post results

did you accidentally dip you head in the deep fryer or how are you that stupid?

start counting EVERY calorie, yes even the 0kcal from water
go to the gym, start weightlifting and do some cardio

        >metabolism could just be slow
        no
your metabolism speed has a very, very minor influence over your burned and stored calories

that's just what they tell fat people to feel better about themselves

It's just stress from your ankle injury and getting kicked out of the house. Not to mention the water retention from the stress and the fast food.

Regarding diet is just the cliche vegetables and fruits (no need to go overboard, something like lettuce+carrot and some apples and bananas should do the trick), try eating grains like rice and beans, and some meats like chicken or pork, beef has quite a bit of bad things on it. And for fricks sake start exercising, even if it means just going for long walks until you're tired to get your body moving and blood pumping. Eventually you will start building up more endurance and will be able to progress into other things. Anything you do WILL eventually get results, because anything is better than to just sit or lie still for the entirety of your day.

replying to myself, if the foods I offered seemed bland, learn how to properly cook food and season it to make it taste good. I sometimes make the cliche chicken+rice and vegetables but i season it properly and it turns out DELICIOUS. Also potatoes are a god sent.

You're not genetically predisposed to gaining weight, you just don't know how much food you're actually consuming.
The number one way of losing weight is actually becoming aware of what you eat day-to-day. Going to the gym is great even if you're literally only walking 15 minutes since it instills a habit of going to the gym, something most overweight people do not. I would not overly concern myself with your diet with one exception, make sure you get enough protein since protein is very filling and is usually found in healthy food regardless..

Gym is rendered ineffective is you don't understand nutrition. Fix diet.
    >buy food scale (it's cheap, no excuses)
    >count calories (I refuse to believe you're too moronic to add and count)
    >stay below your TDEE (google it, there are calculators for it everywhere)

You can skip gym for now; diet is the foundation of everything. If you won't do the above, you're ngmi.
