I'm really lost on what to do right now.

I'm really lost on what to do right now. Started working out at the gym and going really hard, training to failure, hitting protein intakes, etc. At the same time my main goal is to lose weight so I can go back to look like a human being, so I'm also doing clean keto (no bacon or mountains of cheese).

Now, I don't know if it's effective to keep on keto or add some carbs to increase muscle growth. My main goal is to look nice.

Pic attached is my 3 months progress. 2 years ago I actually went from a similar body weight to an actual 6 pack in 8 months with keto, so I know 20% of what I'm doing.

You had a 6 pack 2 years ago and now you look like that?

Yes, it was mid covid, gyms closed and working out was the only thing keeping my head straight. I was then stuck at home in a sexless relationship, got massively depressed and ate all my gains back.

I was really skinny at the time, probably a bulk would solve most of it. Worst scenario a small surgery.

Your mind shouldn't be thinking about muscle building at all. It should only be about muscle building when you reach a body fat % that is acceptable and manageable. Just keep being consistent and the results will continue to follow.

Not sure if trolling but 70-80% carbs is almost as moronic as keto

Not the point of the post at all. I now it takes a while, specially because I already did the journey. I'm just confused with what would be most effective.

Here's the red pill: you CAN'T lose weight and build muscle at the same time.
        Not even on steroids.
Anyone who says you can is either lying or talking about some stupid edge cases (also lying).
So you must pick: one or the other.

You look fat and you want to look good again. So probably weight loss is your main goal. Then go with that. You already know how to do it.
The only thing you can optimize is how little muscle you lose in the process. And this solely depends on how hard you train while on your cut.
You need to train like you're trying to set new PRs. You won't set any (except by honing technique), but you'll keep most of your muscles. And there isn't even a special diet you have to follow: i did this while fasting 3 days a week and squatting 90% of my one rep max on my 2nd fasting day

So if after the cut you realize, "damn, I'm no longer fat, but I'm DYEL. I should have at least reached 3pl8 squat before embarking on the cut..." Then your only remaining course of action is to start bulking again

Thanks anon, that’s helpful. I was frustrated going hard at the gym and didn’t know what to focus. I’ll keep doing that then. I am in caloric deficit, doing 16/8 IF and clean keto, weight loss will definitely come if I keep doing it.

          >you CAN'T lose weight and build muscle at the same time
          dumb frick, you absolutely can

Anon, this person is an absolute unquestionable grade A complete and utter moron. Fat fricks can build muscle while losing fat. When you're in a caloric deficit your body looks to other sources for energy. It will metabolize what it has which is either adipose tissue (fat) or muscular tissue. If you're in a humongous caloric deficit, it will draw from any and all sources, and no matter what you do you'll lose muscle mass or at best tread water. If you are in a very slight caloric deficit however, your body is going to metabolize your fat at a much higher rate than muscle. This means if the calories you consume come from meat and you have a large protein intake, if you lift hard while sustaining the slight deficit, you will lose weight while also building muscle. You don't need to be on steroids, but if your testosterone levels are that of a 93 year old castrado then yeah you'll fail. An otherwise normal fat male in his 20s or early 30s can build muscle while in a slight deficit. All it takes is a high protein intake and lifting hard. If the fat loss outpaces the muscle gains, you will lose weight. Otherwise weight wise you'll tread water but go from being a fat blob to more muscular.

Now beyond that one point, you will still need to cut hard as frick at some point, the question is whether you want to cut hard while you've already build some muscle and risk stunting some of your gains temporarily, or cut hard while you're already a fat weakling and once you reach a level of skinny-fatness, lifting hard and eating normally to pack on muscle. I'd favor the latter in some cases, but for fat fricks I've observed their biggest obstacle is learning how to eat properly. I think a longer, slower more sustained weight loss can be beneficial because they will have to teach themselves to not eat like obese monsters, so their weight loss can be sustained and they don't go back to blimping out after bulking.

You most def can lose fat and build muscle at the same time.

Whats wrong with you people. Literally lift, keep protein high, do cardio and cut calories.
