Yes I understand inhaling anything other than air is bad, however I am wondering on a scale of 1-10.

Same boat, failed to quit dozens of times the last two years.

Longest I went was 3 days. In my experience day 1 is the worst. Day 2 is a bit easier, just string cravings and a strong need for that throat hit but chewing mint gum and drinking ice water fixes that, day 3 is moderate cravings with the occasional out of no where strong as frick craving but no more withdrawal symptoms.

This is my routine, hopefully I get it right this time today is day one again
      >Niacin
Idk if it’s true, I’m gonna continue to believe it is since that seems to help. Supposedly bonds to the same receptors as nicotine in the brain.
      >Gum
As mentioned, mint/menthol gum and ice water. I chew a few pieces at once, have a thick hard thing in my mouth helps with the oral fixation.
      >junk food
It helps, get your favorite snack and allow yourself to have this if it means getting past this. A few days of snacking if it means quitting nicotine is a great decision imho, way healthier than being hooked on this shit any longer. For me it’s those peanut butter pretzels.
      >melatonin
So you can fricking sleep. I unfortunately wake up at 4am normally, but when trying to quit I wake up 3-4 hours into sleep and sometimes can’t get back to sleep.
      >dead vape method
Save your disposables. They can be a weaning tool. Often after sitting around for a while they’ll allow you to get a 1/8th hit off. But only once every 10 hours or so and only like 3-5x total. So it forces you to wean. You can’t give into temptation and hit it again because it won’t work for another 10 hours. Have like 3 of these hit one when you wake, one around noon, one between noon and sleep, and again at bed.
Next day toss however many do you only have 1 left. Hit AM, hit before sleep. Last day should be a bit easier, no withdrawals just the cravings.
I found if you can just increase the time between hitting a vape it gets easier.

I vaped for about 6 months, I was chain vaping all day and sometimes using snuff. One day I woke up at 3am with a craving and realised I had woken myself up to vape. The next day I started trying to wean myself with weaker doses and 0 nicotine short fills. A week later I was sucking on the vape like my life depended on it (due to not getting any relief from nicotine). One day I just threw the vape, snuff and eliquid away. I had strong cravings for another week. That was over 6 months ago and I haven't broken. I even smoke cigars occasionally, tries someone else's vape a few weeks ago, it's all fine.
You can do it too but you have to be decisive about it, throw everything away.

          >chain vaping
That’s been my issue. Being neet who can’t find a job, and just having this shit at my disposal, I’ll hit it all day long and not even realize I’m doing it.
I think that’s where that but about weaning I mentioned comes into play, it breaks the need to chain vape.
I’ve tried throwing everything away and it’s hit or miss. I either make it past 48 hours, then I’m passed the shit withdrawals (the tense ball of rage and restlessness, the constantly feeling congested and just weird), OR I make 8-10 hours and as if I’m not in control of myself I realize I’m halfway down the street to the corner store swearing at traffic that’s not even in my way.

I gotta quit this. Looks gay as hell, fricking my health up, and I hate the idea of depending on things. I feel like it’s in my way too and keeps me from being as productive as I could.

Thanks for sharing. I am trying to talk myself into doing this soon. I’m ashamed to say I can’t bring myself to do it right now.

How do you get into a cold swimming pool? Wade in slowly or just jump in? Be a man and go cold turkey.

              Anonymous

Depends on how cold. If it's uncomfortably cold sure just jump in. If it's really cold it's best to ease your way in. The cold shock is really fricked, you will panic and won't be able to catch your breath.

I think it ultimately depends on how heavy your usage was.
Chain vaping all day, as in you wake up after a few hours of sleep to hit it, go back to sleep, up again again and from wake until bed you’re hitting that shit all day, like minimum 10x an hour? Yeah cold Turkey is gonna frick you.
It’s the same with caffeine. Cold Turkey from a moderate 200mg-400mg daily intake is a fricking joke compared to 1000mg/day. 200mg-400mg you’ll be groggy and have a slight headache for 1-2 days at best, nothing sunlight and advil doesn’t fix. 1000mg you’ll be extra groggy with migraines and actually feel hollowly depressed and it lasts much longer, like the whole week.

we don’t have studies on this so technically everyone is guessing, but there are some pretty likely conclusions if we apply the knowledge we know

    - the carcinogens in smoking come from ingredients that are not in vapes. the tar, the smoke, other tobacco compounds. the can assume vaping is not likely to give you cancer

    - the atherosclerosis (hardening of arteries) which smokers get, leading to heart attacks and clogged arteries and poor circulation, is caused mostly by NICOTINE. This IS in vapes. So we can assume vaping is likely to be as bad as smoking when it comes to cardiovascular risks. Some may argue that it is even worse, due to the fact that smokers tend to smoke less than vapers vape.

    - Honourable mention: in vapes, the nicotine is suspended in a solution of PG/VG. We have almost no info on the long-term impacts of inhaling these chemicals. So truly nobody knows, these could be completely harmless or maybe they’re horrible. No evidence to suggest they’re bad atm but that isn’t overly comforting

So basically they will still give you cardiovascular problems, but won’t give you cancer. The only thing I would recommend is if you do vape, don’t chain vape all day. Try to vape in patterns like smokers smoke, a few times a day.

Also, I vape and have been heavily vaping for a year. I didn’t smoke before this. I have noticed a drastic decrease in my lung capacity, it’s easy to reach shortness of breath, I now have a cough, and my chest sometimes gets sharp pains. Take that information as you will.

yeah, but what’s the point? if youre just underaged and curious I mean yeah if you want to play around with a nic-free vape to see what its like that wont hurt you. but it is a really easy gateway to go from there to nic vapes. and then youre addicted in no time. if youre going to make the decision to try nic-free vapes you have to have the resolve to also decide you wont use a nic vape regardless of circumstances or peer pressure.

What do I know I never vaped and never will. I thought they taste nice or something.

It's so you can taper off more smoothly. Instead of giving up both nicotine and the habit at the same time, you first completely give up the nicotine, and then you give up the vaping. It's easier to quit it when you're just inhaling stuff with zero effects and barely any flavor.

They make tons of zero nicotine disposable vapes. Seems pointless to inhale a potentially dangerous vapor for zero effect though. Have you tried meth or heroin?

I experimented with vaping for about a year and it was really bad. The best fix for it though is swimming, especially swimming where you spend as much time as possible underwater, that accelerates the recovery so it only takes a few weeks instead of 3-6 months. I was convinced for awhile that vaping couldn't be bad for you but ended up realizing it's very bad.

Just use edibles only. At this point I'm not touching any drugs because it's winter but I still have my CBD/CBG/CBC/CBN oil, and I use it when absolutely necessary or to help with recovery, but not during winter because it fricks my thermoregulation (makes me really cold) while improving everything else.

    >vapping created so people can stop smoking more easily
    >the idea was that one vape inhalation would be enough to satisfy your craving for nicotine for a while because of the increased dose of nicotine inside them, so you'd practically only have to vape a few times a day and then you'd "smoke" as much as you did before, only without the effects of tobacco and this it is easier to slowly build down and quit altogether
    >but now we have flavours
    >nobody cares about the original intend anymore
    >kids are lurking on these things all day long and have bad withdrawal symptoms
    >people having lung issues and increased chance of lung infections because of this shit and only now this is has been noticed
    >no longterm use studies whatsoever
    >sold in the dollarbin basically and still people are surprised that it is shit

While it can be used to quit smoking cause you can taper off with the nic, the "helps you quit smoking" thing was actually just an advertisement so they look better on paper than cigarettes. I mean seriously
      >"hey, how do we stop people from smoking opium? I know, let's give them fruit flavored heroin soda! That'll help"
Doesn't make much sense now does it

Nicotine is not so bad for your health in moderation and helps with weight loss, but it negatively affects gains. The glycerine shit is assumed to be pretty unhealthy on the other hand.

      Anonymous

whoa, i didnt realize nicotine is killing my gains. I assumed it was old age now that im 27. compared to when I got fit at 19 and at 24 I am having a lot more difficulty putting on muscle (I started vaping at 26). Is this why? other than age/vaping there is not much different in my nutrition, training, lifestyle, starting weight, etc.

        Anonymous

It is not killing your gains, just has negative impact comparing to not consuming nicotine. It is same as optimal amount of protein, if you eat a little under it, it is suboptimal but it will not ruin your gains totally.

The fact that these things look like candy packages with bright colours and every flavour of fruit available should tell you that this shit was not made to benefit your health. It's just made to look innocent and delicious so it can drain you off your money exactly the same way they used to do it with cigarettes.
Back then cigarettes were sold with adds displaying roughened up men, cowboys etc etc.
Vapes are sold as some adult candy shit that reminds you of flavours of your chemical induced sweets. Nothing manly anymore, just junkfood.

  13. 5 months ago
    Anonymous

Literally unanswerable. It's probably better than smoking, possibly a lot better, provided you get good quality eliquid and your vape doesn't let the hot vapour touch plastic. But nobody knows what the long term effects of vaporising nicotine, propylene glycol and whatever flavours are added, and inhaling it, will be.
