    humans aren't autistic automatons
dietary effects on hormones and hunger are real
if you eat dirty but tell yourself CICO is the best then you'll end up finding it harder and harder to stick to your diet as you get older and the food you used to feel good eating now makes you feel like shit
just eat clean and listen to your body, don't eat like a fat homosexual
everyone claiming CICO is the best way to eat is just young and hasn't hit an age yet where eating fast food every day has negative effects
of course none of this shit even matters if you're an alcoholic

CICO only matters when it comes to weight gain/weight loss.

macro/micro balance and eating whole foods is more important for health.

Facts. Alot of people like to bring up the "you'll still lose weight if you eat 1000 calories of donuts everyday"
But that's the thing, you can't. No one can sustain a diet of 3 donuts per day, you'll feel like shit and you'll need David Goggins level willpower to pull it off for any significant amount of time.

The healthier the diet, the easier it is to lose weight.
The healthier the diet, the more energy you'll have, the more musle you can build, and that results in a better physique.

People who say the only thing that matters when it comes to diet is CICO are just coping because they can't stop eating goyslop.

Plus if you’re sedentary and just eating a deficit of donuts you could easily look fatter after losing weight if muscle is a significant component of the weight lost. Just focusing on driving the weight down is missing the bigger picture.

        >But that's the thing, you can't.
Most people have terrible diets, sure you won’t be super healthy eating empty carbs every day but most people live into their late 70s eating trash all their lives anyway without caloric restriction.

It's the equivalent to saying, if you want to get big muscles, just lift.
It was based at first but now you have a wave of zoomers who think this is somehow top tier advice because they didn't understand the meme in the first place and think this is somehow good advice to a fatty looking to cut some pounds.

Would I still say this to a random gay in a IST thread? Maybe. But I would never give such simplistic and braindead advice to somebody I care about and who I actually want to see succeed.

Yeah, if you eat like shit, you'll have a tough time staying in a caloric deficit, but calories have more to do with whether you lose or gain weight than the quality of your diet.
Anyway, the people who OP is talking about aren't saying that CICO isn't good dietary advice. They're the morons who deny that if you eat fewer calories, you'll lose weight (the basic scientific fact OP is referencing). Some kind of carnivore/low carb pseudoscience. They'll show up in this thread like flies on shit.

CICO is the sole function of weight loss/gain, everything else is a strategy to achieve it. Obviously a donut only diet is not a good strategy to achieve a calorie deficit, that being said I think what I see on here that bothers me is people questioning that CICO is just a fact of life and insisting they will burn calories faster by eating some meme diet, like the ketoschizos who think you can eat 4000kcal of steak with butter and lose weight.

But yes telling someone "lmao just deficit" is generally bad advice. I think just balancing your macros is always going to be a good way to achieve a deficit without feeling hungry, and it doesnt have to be too restrictive either. Some foods are not nearly as bad as youd think if you just ignore the bullshit and look at the macros. For instance Ive been eating a lot of frozen pizza lately because they have surprisingly balanced macros and half of one is only 500ish calories.

        >CICO is the sole function of weight loss/gain
Yet the body does not use calories to function. Curious.

You body uses macro nutrients to function. Macro nutrients are very hard to cross compare to each other. Even trying to compare the metabolic effects of sugars like glucose and fructose to each other is hard to do. Fortunately, we have a shorthand way to convert all macro nutrients to one standard value; their caloric value. It's not 100% accurate, but it's close enough it's a good rule of thumb for 99%+ of people.

A diet is just the set of foods you routinely eat. CICO isn't a diet, it's a rule. If you eat more than you burn, you gain weight. If you eat less than you burn, you lose weight. All diets (balance, keto, vegetarian, vegan, etc.) adhere to the rule of calories in, calories out.

      See that's the whole thing
CICO is good precisely because it gets you to that point where the only way to feel good and sated is to eat good stuff
CICO as a principle is true and applying it to your diet gets you where you want to be diet wise, I don't see why people get mad about it
Sure it's better to straight up just eat well, but for peeps who need to teach themselves how to do that, CICO really helps
A groundbreaking moment fore was realizing I was eating massive plates of chicken/rice/zucchini and still not reaching my target calories. I would be physically unable to eat more and still be under my target. That felt amazing

Nobody has ever seriously suggested eating a caloric deficit of pure cake. It's just a hypothetical to illustrate the principle. Of course there's plenty of additional nutritional information that's useful. Christ you people are autistic.

CICO is an incomplete picture of how to construct a diet. Go diet on nothing but a calorie deficit of Twinkies and report the results back to me.

Obviously an extreme example, but nonetheless, macros and food quality do make a big difference and shouldn’t be neglected if you care about your results.

Anecdotal but here’s my story for why CICO is a meme
    >be me
    >try CICO and autistically count every calorie I consume to make sure I’m in a caloric deficit. No cheat days or anything
    >do this consistently for 2 years
    >literally didn’t lose a single lb
    >start taking Mounjaro
    >ignore calories entirely but occasionally would track what I ate after the fact just to see how many calories I was consuming
    >I literally consumed more calories while on Mounjaro vs before when I was failing to lose weight
    >lost over 100 lbs in just 10 months

CICO is a myth. reddit pseudo-intellectuals will scream and parrot “thermodynamics” while not understanding actual thermodynamics or the nuances of how the human body works.

CICO is a basic comprehension of weight gain and loss. I'm glad the pendulum is finally swinging back around because there was a period where so many keto I'm ards were eating whole sticks of butter and people eating ice cream sandwiches for breakfast on IIFYM. They lost weight, but now they have diabetes and heat disease. Everyone is emotionally invested in their own meme diet. We've got so many morons eating whatever sulek said he ate the night before

And I can't believe how one of the fattest countries on Earth, the US, claims to have weight loss and weight gain all figured out. Reality with its obesity crisis even among lab animals with normalized calorik intake and output shows that CICO doesn't work. End of fricking story. Not my problem that you fatties don't want to accept this. Frick these mechanistic bullshit theories.

The human body can't defy thermodynamics but it is true there are things one can do that make your life less miserable than if you just coldly measure calories. Eating a lot of fiber helps to feel fuller. Protein and fat digest slower than carbs. Making a deficit through activity rather than laying down and eating on maintenance is easier too. Having good sleep and your hormones in check will also make you less prone to cravings and function better. Not to mention having nutrient deficiencies can also make your day harder.
A lof ot hese things are not cico yet they impact. Cico is still 99% of it and to lose your head over details instead of addressing the most crucial part of the equation is stupid.

Why are you all homosexuals so fricking dense ?
Why the frick are you assuming people advocating for CICO are advising to eat nothing but junk food and do literally no exercise ? Fricking morons
CICO is just factual, spend more than you eat and you're going to lose weight. The only counterexamples are absolute fricking tards who put themselves in a badly calculated 100cal deficit and complain they didn't lose 50lbs in a week.
Show me any example of someone eating at a significant deficit/surplus (500+ cal a day at least) and not losing/gaining weight, I'll wait

      >Why the frick are you assuming people advocating for CICO are advising to eat nothing but junk food and do literally no exercise ?
The people you're talking to are morbidly obese losers who do that by default, so when they hear CICO, they imagine that someone is ordering them to keep eating garbage.
The reason why meme diets appeal to them is that they have no idea what a balanced diet even looks like.
