I'm about 5'8 1/2 ot 174cm and I have never felt that short. Wear some shoes with a thick sole, which is easy as chunky trainers are in fashion, they can easily boost you 4cm which is over an inch, plus a 'support insole' for your shoes, which add abit more. I'm near 5'11 when I have those on lol

I live in a country in Europe where the average height is about 5'10. So 5'10, in my opinion, or at least 5'9 with high heeled shoes (think air force 1 or something) is the bare minimum to be respected as an adult male when walking down the street. It's no more risky than any other surgery the stigma against it comes from it being a new thing. Also 1-2 inches on femurs is very minor lengthening, with such a small amount there's basically no risk.
