When they have kids run the mile in high school most of them get that with almost no training so idk what to tell you. My best time was like 5:50 or something.
I ran that pace for 5 miles 3 months ago, on hilly terrain. And I am by no means a competitive runner
It's a decent time, you are in decent shape vs the average person. But compared to people who train seriously, its below average. Just depends on what your baseline of comparison is
Elite would be around 4:15-4:20 or so, I'd say. Below 4:45 is really solid for a generic athlete, but I think 5 is pretty doable for anyone with good aerobic capacity and lactate tolerance.
Also, a "good" mile is not something that should be easy, or that most people will do. However, it's something that anyone should be able to do after about a year of genuine effort.
Depends on your build - if you're optimizing for cardio than that is a absolutely shit time. But if you're a bodybuilder happening to do some cardio - then its fine.
When I was your age a few years ago at 5 7 my best time was 4:58 so you should be able to get in the 5-5:30 range to be considered proper.
It’s pretty standard sort of athletic time. Not impressive by any means.
I started running like 1 month ago and my best was 12:00
Im 154 with 19% body fat
Okay u guys are trolling me and hurting my feelings 🙁

What's your weight? If you're skin and bones it might be an okay time. But if you're built, then it is impressive.
Quite bad. I have no athletic background and I ran a (very slightly) sub 6 mile my very first attempt at 20 years old.
If you're doing that time for 3-4 miles it's decent to good
If it's a balls out single mile effort it's pretty bad
Good enough for the space force
This!!!
Frick you
Anything sub 5 is good. Anything above 6 is pretty bad. Above 7 is pathetic.
>sub 5
Isn’t that like elite athlete record times?

Imo sub 8 is not-obese tier, sub 7 is athletic non-runner tier, sub 6 is casual runner tier, and sub 5 is good runner tier.
bottom third of runners your age
Better than the vast majority of the population.
According to the U.S. Army it's excellent
