Basically every single animal on the planet only eats specific local food which surrounds said animal, yet we're fed the idea that we have to eat Mexican avocados, bananas from Ecuador and Chinese rice in order to be healthy.
What gives?

>Is a "diverse diet" largely a meme?
yes
who could possibly benefit from "lying" to you about eating more fruits and vegetables?
this website was a mistake. you are people are beyond saving. the disinformation psy-op has won your souls.
>religious vegans
>ill intentioned bankers
>vegetable merchants
>supplement salesmen who sell exotic plant extracts
>scientists who make more money by saying "buy healthy product" then "ignore meme food"
People can survive for life on a diet of only meat and grains. Naturally they will get a little bit of extra variety like fruits and veggies without even really trying.
Lots of old ration plans available where soldiers would get bread, meat, and some beer every day, and that was their rations they would live on for years at a time.
>People can survive for life on a diet of only meat
Ftfy
If a moron tells you 1+1=3 would you believe that he was telling the truth? No, then would you not consider that lying?
Just because people are fricking moronic and have jack fricking shit knowledge about the human endocrine system, doesn't mean they're telling you the truth when they say some moronic shit.
>What gives?
You are being lied to
Eat healthy
Workout, lift, and do cardio
watch your calories
eat your protein
All this shit you guys talk about is a bit moronic and redundant tbh. Just fricking go to the gym bro and stop overthinking
>anon you lack this and that nutrient in your diet, you better go buy those chia seeds from fricking guatemala that's what you have been missing all this time!
Just eat peas, onions, potatoes, my milk, beef, fish and grains as your main food items like our ancestors. They basically cover all micronutrients and macro nutrients aside from vitamin e which you can get from almonds and olive oil
>my milk
>ancestors
Based cow god
how do I acquire your milk?
You have to suckle it out gently but no teeth or you don’t get any
>Just eat peas, onions, potatoes, my milk, beef, fish and grains as your main food items like our ancestors. They basically cover all micronutrients and macro nutrients aside from vitamin e which you can get from almonds and olive oil
How did Native Americans survive eating buffalo and some berries.
I think its more along the lines of making sure you get sufficient amounts of micronutrients not that you have to eat food from specific regions of the planet. Sure different vegetable varieties from foreign countries might have more nutrients than their domestic counterparts but that doesn't necessarily mean you need to get them
Allegedly hunter gatherers ate way more of a variety of plants than we do now. Most people eat the same 2-3 fruits and veggies 90% of the time.
yeah hunter gatherers had donkeys and donkeys only eat the finest herbs, they're very picky
basically chilling in the mountains eating highest quality herbs and spices with meat, fruit and eggs
Hunter gatherers almost exclusively ate meat. In times of scarcity they would eat anything that fight outright kill them.
Most plants with any kind of significant yield to humans weren't selectively bred yet. That's why agricultural societies would frequently get sacked or wiped out for centuries by nomadic people. Agricultural life took time to scale up and be able to compete

No. This is completely wrong.
Hunter gatherers were more hunter than gatherer and ate almost exclusively nothing but meat.
Humans have been hyper-carnivores for the last 2 million years.
>Hunter gatherers were more hunter than gatherer and ate almost exclusively nothing but meat.
>All studies, including the earliest-studied population of Sima del Elefante (1.2 Mya) (K. Hardy et al., 2017) and the Qesem Cave, Israel (400 Kya) (K. Hardy et al., 2016), identified plant remains in tooth plaque and even evidence for cooked starch (but see García-Granero, 2020).
>Out of 31 dental calculus analysis cases listed in K. Hardy et al. (2018, table 1), only four cases did not show starch residues. The assemblage of cases suggests that consumption of plants was common, although one has to take into account that the consumption of starch encourages dental plaque formation (Brown, 1975; Scannapieco et al., 1993) and that we do not know the percentage of teeth that were not sampled because they had no calculus. But even if we had these data, the identification of plants in dental calculus cannot tell us what the relative plant consumption of the individual was. However, we can summarize that the archaeological and ethnographic record shows that plant foods were a frequent component of the Paleolithic diet.
You Black folk never actually read the shit you try and reference.
Go out in the wild (real wild) and find more than 3 edible plants
Yes, it's a meme, pushed in part as good-enough advice for morons and in part as an opportunity for slop merchants to sell you toast AND pancakes AND waffles AND muffins AND pastries AND croissants AND bagels. People given a greater variety of food tend to eat more overall and the slop merchants know this.
On the moron level, you have morons who eat only gummy bears, Dr. Pepper and mac&cheese then wonder why they have scurvy. So if you tell morons to do this they'll eat some pizza and bagel bites and eat a burger and that'll help their gums from bleeding out from total vitamin C deficiency.
You can survive on like 2-3 carefully chosen foods, but can completely thrive just eating only dozen. You should check out the nutrients if you're going to eat a narrow amount but you'd do well with just these:
>eggs
>milk (yogurt, cream, butter)
>salmon
>beef
>chicken
>broccoli
>tomatoes, other vegetables
>nuts, peanuts
>mushrooms
>coconut
>quinoa
And you could probably get by just fine with even less than that if you wanted.
>OP posts picture of vegetables asking about variety in foods
>some homosexual starts talking about variety of junk foods
you are even dumber than conspiracy theorists trying to push an unbelievable statement
OP asks question:
> Is a "diverse diet" largely a meme?
I respond explaining the usage as a meme, both for commercial gain and to stop complete morons from killing themselves eating junk food.
>You get buttmad because I mentioned it was a meme for morons eating junk food to not wind up in ER right away
Ok
If your idea of a diverse diet is to eat exotic food, your idea and the reality of the concept don't line up.
It just means not only eating the same thing, like don't exclusively eat beef, broccoli and potatoes. Mix it up every now and then
What would I be deficient in if I ate just beef broccoli and potatoes aside from my happiness
It's just really monotonous. In don't know if that exact example would leave you deficient in anything. I like to cook different stuff just for the taste
Punch it into cronometer to find out
To stay in healthy / in shape
meat
fish
eggs
milk(preferably goat's)
cheese
cream
butter
coconut cream
tomatoes
cucumber
celery
berries
grapefruit
>Is a "diverse diet" largely a meme?
Yes
Variety is for women
This. Every man I know is content, if not happy, with the same food everyday as long as it's decent. Women will literally stop liking something they've enjoyed their whole lives just to have an excuse to change their diet
Eat organs
Simple as
>Simple as
Ive been informed this is a israeli phrase. So we all need to do our due diligence and make sure to ignore this anon
You won't trick me out of my gains israelite
Now give me that liver
>people before Colombian exchange were dying from malnutrition and 5'8 was considered giant
>people after Colombian exchange are healthy and 6" taller on average
Yeah definitely just a meme though, just like the 5'0 skeletal asiatics pre-Western diet didn't grow 7" after adopting human cuisine
Kinda, humans have the most diverse palates in the animal kingdom, meaning we can eat the most types of foods.
Our understanding of nutrition is still largely broscience. We'll be colonizing Pluto and people would still be arguing about sneed oils
> Our understanding of nutrition is still largely broscience.
No it isn’t. The mainstream dietary advice has changed very little in 60 years
Explain obesity then
People following mainstream dietry advice
no. diversity is our greatest strength
100%. I've been eating exactly the same thing for 8 years. The idea that diversification is healthier is championed by people who want to elevate their own novelty seeking compulsion to an imperative that everyone else has to follow.
A diverse diet is the best way to expose your body to as much bacteria as possible.
To the plant-based dieters in this thread, how many brussel-sprouts, cauliflower, tomatoes, corns, and broccoli do you think your ancestors hunted?
You can eat nothing but chicken, rice or potatoes eggs and a veggie of your choice for the rest of your life and be healthy as anything. Diets are for the obese, people with specific diseases and sensitivities and gullible frickers.
Eat healthy shit that works for YOU.
no
my ancestors (the spartans and vikings) hunted mammoths for 2 million years and ate nothing but prime rib steak every day which made them look like bodybuilders
if it weren't for ancel keys inventing the food pyramid, no one would even think to eat antinutrient and toxin-filled plants
humans are carnivores, that's why meat gives us atherosclerosis but doesn't do that to cats or dogs
except it doesnt. Industrial pufas and sugar do
Animal products, barring a diet of all other forms of sustenence (carbs and sugars) will give you atherosclerosis at the age of 85-90. We know this from old Inuit and Alaskan native American studies from the 1800s.
