I run in fall and winter and ride my bike in spring and summer.
Going from cycling to running is like I never stopped running and can almost pick up where I left apart from my joints need time to adapt.
Going from running to cycling is like I have been smoking 2 packets of cigarettes a day and not working out at all.

went on a 2-day bike ride and the only thing i felt after was a fricky ligament on my left knee, so you can't spam it for leg gains
just go out cycling everyday. Even if you go for only one our daily you will see results fast. When I'm in a hurry I go out for one hour rides. Within a month you will see huge results.
Yes especially on a road bike. You have to actually push yourself though. I highly recommend a power meter. Mountain bike is a lot of fun as well if you live near trails. I prefer a smooth mountain road myself though. Nothing like a hard climb with amazing views at high altitude.
Go and try

When you can go do bulgs, barbell squats, leg press, stretches and maybe some crunches and it is considered exercise than of course bicycling.
