Is buying this shit worth it?
Does it work the same as the ones at the gym? I always train at "home" and all I ever did for the Triceps were Overhead Extensions, Skullcrushers and Bench Dips.

It works exactly the same except that you can't adjust the height. That's all. I have one and it's a lifesaver for poorgays trying to build a home gym
Yeah I bought a DIY set a while ago. They are (almost) all the same, just make sure you don't get the shittiest looking one. For the money it works very well. I attached mine to my pullup bar.
Not OP but how much weight do you need to attach to it as opposed to what you would select at the gym? Is it the same?
No it's a single pulley system, as opposed to most cable machines in the gym that are 2. You would be loading up around half at least from my experience.
I have one and my triceps blow up in like 2 months of really doing triceps extensions and overhead but you need a tall place to put it like an squat rack or a pullup bar
I've got a diy set up like this.
The only minor drawback is that if you get the cadence of the movement wrong then the weight stack starts to swing back and forth.
Otherwise it works fine.
yeah it fricking sucks. To fix this I load plates on the wire and put a carabiner on the bottom to stop the plates sliding off. On this clip I attach a chain that hangs on the floor. I got at wickes. Dunno what the American equivalent is but you can just buy it when you get your coated wire and pulley there. The chain is loud but throw a towel
underneath it and it's not too bad. Kinda pushes you to use better controlled form so you don't clank the frick out of it
You can add a bunch of pillows or some shit at the bottom, so when the weight goes down, it touches them and stops swinging.
>Kinda pushes you to use better controlled form so you don't clank the frick out of it
True. Also forces you to have full ROM otherwise the weight won't stop swinging.
Why would you buy it?
It's literally a handle, a few carabiners, a few u bolt clamps, a length of steel wire, some screws, some anchor shackles and a pulley. Maybe some tape and some hot glue if you want to be fancy and cover all the sharp edges.
You can get that shit much cheaper at the hardware store, you can make it however you like, and it will definitely be more resistant since you're using heavy duty construction materials instead of chinesium and plastic.
source: I have that setup. It's attached to my pull-up bar. Said pull-up bar is basically thick pipe I found at the junkyard, which bolted to the wall with a bunch of concrete screws. The weight I use is whatever I feel like using, because it's designed to do that (currently using 1 kettlebell and 2 dumbbells)
from dyel to diy
It's 100% worth it for how cheap the diy is. Also you can do seated lat pulldowns with it
It’s fricking nice tho.
>destroys your wall
>destroys your doorfrane
>destroys your floor
Phew I am so glad I bought this 5000 dollar home gym set instead of getting a 30 dollar membership!
You're shit at economics.

Renter who has no experience working with his hands detected.
Pathetic. You are not even a man.
>renter
Oh yeah I forgot if you dont rent then breaking your own home is free to fix
Poor too. Sad, many such cases.
Purcahsing a woman os fraught with peril nowadays due to a biased and corrupt legal system. I rarely say this in regards to matters of finance, but you are probably better off just renting one. NOT rent to own or long term lease, however. Short term/month to month only. And purchase the highest amount of insurance coverage you can afford.
bought something like this yesterday, cant wait for it!!!!!
