Is diet soda "bad" for you?

about 6 years ago I cut all soda from my diet.
even one can of coca cola would destroy my endurance the next day at the gym.

I started drinking sparkling water and my office has this flavored sparkling water machine and yesterday I had a Coke Zero and it tastes great. No sugar either and I don't feel exhausted in the gym. what are the cons?

Because water is supposed to have taste moron. Distilled water is dangerous and unhealthy, good water is supposed to have a tangy taste of mineralization

    >yesterday I had a Coke Zero
sorry anon, your last 6 years of gains are going to unravel, the phylotoxohosis and dexrinoline in coke zero is probably breaking down your muscles as we speak

Cancer was an issue that got brought up. If you weigh 150lb then you'd need to drink like 14 cans a day for any cancer risk to appear according to the International Agency for Research on Cancer though. It is rough on your teeth though due to it being so acidic so using a straw to bypass your teeth would be advisable. No other downsides to be seen

    >be me
    >drink 6+ Dr. Peppers a day
    >weigh 160
    >I run 100 miles a week
    >21 minute 3 mile
    >decide to kick soda
    >1 Dr. Pepper a week
    >Just drink sparkling water, reg water, and whole milk
    >180lbs, can barely hit 50 miles, 3 mile time is almost 30 minutes
    I don't fricking get it

I'm sorry but you do not run a 100 miles a week with a paltry 3 mile like that. I can swing a sub 22 without training running, I weigh ~190.

why did you kick it? possible you're not getting enough blood sugar for your runs which is why you feel bad

Not bad for you. My best run times correspond to my highest diet soda consumption.

No research found a strong link between diet coke and any health problems. There is weak correlation between diet cokes and obesity, but i all likelihood it's because fatties drink coke with their fast food or because they switch to it when they attempt weight loss. I drink a glass of two on a regular basis since I was a kid, never obese, never overweight.

That said, it can frick up your teeth if you don't brush. Don't drink it before sleep after brushing.

How the frick would soda mess up your endurance? Why would you blame the soda? Does the high fructose corn syrup drop T levels or something?

Not really, that's kinda the whole point of it. It's not as unhealthy as coca cola original.

The only actual con is it tastes terrible when it's flat.
The magic goes away once the carbonation is gone.
    Otherwise, drink up king.
Dr. Pepper makes some great Cream soda variants.
