    Alcohol is processed exclusively in the liver through a metabolic pathway that creates a glut of fat that almost entirely gets deposited viscerally, which in turn is muchmore metabolically deleterious than subcutaneous fat.

So much Acetyle-CoA is produced that the mitochondria export it to out into lipogenesis and VLDL which in turn suppresses LDL synthesis through the hoarding of ApoB and in turn raises Triglycerides which don't return to baseline for nearly 10-12hours. Alcohol metabolism also shuts off fatty acid beta-oxidation in the mitochondria throughout your body resulting in a suppressed fat metabolism making it difficult to actually lose or utilize fat for the energy it could provide.
