Lot of yes lot of no. It has the most benefit for people who have issues with blood sugar regulation like type 2 diabetics and pre-diabetic. But like all diets fat people and other people with eating disorders try to turn it into a binge eating diet and ruin any merits it might have had for them.
>But like all diets fat people and other people with eating disorders try to turn it into a binge eating diet and ruin any merits it might have had for them.
Based. The ancient Persians used to eat only one meal a day. Eventually they realized the loophole and that degraded into them eating one meal all day. No amount of rules and regulations can save fats from themselves.
I'm pretty fat at 230lbs and have been intermittant fasting, Its actually put me off binge eating and I cant fill my stomach up as much as I could a couple weeks ago
Intermittent fasting is a meme, actual fasting is not.
Skipping breakfast alone will not change anything.
I do OMAD daily and then also do a longer fast (48-72 hours) every 1-2 weeks. The longer fasts are definitely beneficial for weight loss, and there's research showing that they have a lot of other benefits like autophagy (repairing cells).
OMAD or even a 16:8 fast is going to make it easier to do those longer fasts. If you're used to eating from breakfast until bedtime, it will be hard to pull off a 72 hour fast. But if you're already used to going almost all day without food, then the longer fasts are easier.
you cannot eat 200-230g of protein in 'one meal a day' what are you going to sit down and eat 1lb of cooked meat, 3 cups of rice and 12 eggs? You cannot, unless you are bulimic teir that shit is entirely filling and nothing like eating goyslop or emtpy carbs that are easy to over eat calorie wise.
I broke my last fast with 2 steaks, 4 eggs, an omelet(4 more eggs+bacon+veggies), large glass of whole milk all in one meal and a before bed snack of chips and guacamole
Felt great, no upset stomach or crazy shits after either
Maybe you should stop eating like a dyel woman
>you cannot eat 200-230g of protein in 'one meal a day' what are you going to sit down and eat 1lb of cooked meat, 3 cups of rice and 12 eggs?
Yes. That''s like 3400 calories. A bit more than I'd eat at once, but it's doable. Drop the rice down to maybe one cup and that's 2100 calories.
>down to maybe one cup and that's 2100 calories
i think he meant 1 cup of cooked rice, which is like 220 calories. i hope to god you lads aren't gulping down entire cups of raw rice
It all boils down to calories in calories out. If you need to autistically eat in a "feeding window" go right ahead but you can't overcome the law of thermal dynamics
Yeah this is pretty much it. I'm sure there are some extremely small benefits yet niche benefits that come with IF, but it's so much easier to just put the fork down.
nah
doubt it's the end-all best way to lose weight, but it is pretty easy to get used to and it's way cheaper, which means it could be more easily picked up by the average fatso that would probably otherwise burn out if they tried something more involved and high-effort like keto or whatever the new meme is
Pretty much, all the recent studies that have been out and discussed by actual experts in nutrition like Alan Aragon and Layne Norton have pretty well shown that IF is just another meme restriction diet, and the whole concept of "fasting" for 16 hours isn't any different than skipping a few meals.
If it's the only way a fat frick can have the control to not gorge, then so be it, they should do it. But anyone who thinks it's more than another diet plan like all the rest needs to frick right off.
>before IF >eat breakfast and lunch >stuff my face like a fat moron after work >IF >still stuff my face like a fat moron but eat 500-1500cal less because no breakfast and lunch >lose weight
I've been throwing in an occasional full fasting day and I've cut way back on my post-work binging, it's been shockingly easy.
No, it's one of the few things in the fitness industry that actually has merit, but like most things people exaggerate its benefits. Does fasting really cure cancer? Really?
Question: If you’re not eating for most of the day, how do you avoid losing muscle?
Because if you’re in starvation mode during your “fast”, wouldn’t your body start eating away at your muscle?
I do OMAD most days and the occasional 48 hr fast
I eat a big dinner and workout the next day at either morning or lunch, only problems are when dinner is super light
Caffeine increases performance up to 500mg, so an energy drink with lots of caffeine or preworkout may help you
The 48 hr fasts I schedule between workouts or just do light cardio during them
Heavy deadlifts or squats or really any strength focused training during a multiday fast is not a good time so avoid that
Turns out I was doing it unintentionally starting this year. So it seems to be working. Granted it's really just scheduled calorie deficit that gives more time for your body to break down shit in between meals.
So if it has benefits, great, if not, at least the deficit is working.
Definitely not. It's should be the standard way of living. The human body wasn't made for constant digestion of food, especially not at night.
I feel the best when I'm in my fasting window, and as soon as I eat something (healthy) and digestion starts, I lose performance.
It's only a meme if you're addicted to food and either:
1. Cheat
2. Give yourself too large a window to eat
3. Stuff yourself like you're preparing to hibernate for the winter
I like it because I don't have to worry about stuff like "what am I going to eat for breakfast/lunch?" and just go on with my day. Then train and then eat, sleep and repeat.

It’s a massive meme. Just don’t eat like a fat frick
It is.
Just do OMAD.
redpill me on omad vs adf
>redpill me on omad vs adf
On omad you eat 1 meal and with adf you eat 0.

thats 100-120g of protein max
>what are you going to sit down and eat 1lb of cooked meat, 3 cups of rice and 12 eggs?

I eat my rice from bowls not cups, cup is for measuring uncooked rice, bowl is for eating cooked rice.
OMAD is intermittent fasting
moron
Intermittent fasting is a meme, actual fasting is not.
Skipping breakfast alone will not change anything.
All fasting is intermittent
What if you fast to failure?
Dang
It all boils down to calories in calories out. If you need to autistically eat in a "feeding window" go right ahead but you can't overcome the law of thermal dynamics

I agree, putting the fork down is 10x easier if you fast.
No
Less time eating is more time doing something else
this has been a huge unexpected benefit. My mornings aren't as rushed anymore because I'm not eating, and I have my lunch break free at work.
nah

it's one of the best memes
I wish my brother would do it so he would stop shitting himself 24/7

>improved insulin sensitivity
>enhanced metabolic health
>lowers LDL, increases HDL
>lowers blood triglycerides
>autophagy
it's totally a meme
Dubs and boogie dies in a plane crash

What's the keyboard shortcut for that? Is it worth running over satiation mode?
Do you guys have trouble having enough energy in the gym if lifting while fasted?
