Is it better to accept that there is pain and that will motivate you further or that pain doesn't exist and it's the thrill of the moment that will
pain? what do you mean
Why are you feeling pain?
Do these numbers correlate to Smith machines also??
please dont tell me you are one of those gays who bench in the smith machine...
I go to a small gym. I work at a rec center so I get free access to their gym. They only have a Smith machine when it comes to that kind of lifting. I 1/2/3/4 on it easy and I've only been lifting for 2 months. I added an extra 25lbs to compensate for the lighter bar. I saw some old dude take it out one day and start lifting. But I'm new to lifting and not confident. The have a lot of lifting machines that I use because it's fast and easier to do.
Here is my workout. Feel free to talk shit I need advice. I wanna get stronger the right way.
5mins of stretching
20min walk
Chest press- 3 sets of 10 at 8
Shoulder raises- 3 sets of 10 at 8
Midrow- 3 sets of 10 at 10
Lat pull down- 3 sets of 10 at 8
Leg extension- 3 sets of 10 at 9
Leg curl- 3 sets of 10 at 12
Seated leg press- 3 sets of 10 at 255lbs
Ab crunch- 3 sets of 15 at 18 max
Low back- 3 sets of 15 at 18 max
I don't know how much is each level actually. They use Hoist Fitness branded machines. From what I could find online each level is 10lbs so ad a zero on the end of the level for an estimate weight.
I'm 6ft2 260lbs
If this gets ignored I understand. I appreciate everyone here.
Not easier as in it's easier to lift. That it's easier to just jump in and have everything set up*
If what you say is true, you need to find another gym. The only way to build real strength is to do compound movements with FREE WEIGHT.
The Smith machine is like lifting on the fricking moon. It's not real and your lifts don't mean shit.
You can keep the machine garbage if you want, but if you truly want to get stronger you must squat, bench, deadlift and OHP with free weights
I'm currently on the just lift meme. So as long as I'm lifting 5-6 days a week and progressing to heavier levels I think I'm doing ok. I can't go to another gym. I live with my grandparents and don't have a car. I looked stuff up on the Smith machine hate and they said you can lift more with your major muscles you just don't work the stabilizing muscles as hard. I mean I'm not looking to become a crazy bodybuilder aesthetics gay. I just want to look good enough so women aren't completely repelled by my personality. I haven't had a woman interested in me and over 8 years and I'm 29 kek.
first mistake is training too much imo, i had a phase where i would train 5 times a week too but thats just too much if you are not on steroids.
Reduce the days you go to the gym to 3 times a week and make the workouts harder, do 3-4 different exercises per day.
I have a leg day, a Chest/Bizeps day and a back day, you can do the same, its way better.
Im mentally ill. If I don't workout that much my mind starts going crazy. Probably years of being severely obese. I could try doing less reps at higher weights. I've just fallen into my current routine. Thanks for the advice.
Start eating healthier, if you are able to afford Frosta stuff, go buy it its easy and healthy (pic related) eat one bag per day, there are many different variations of them.
Eat 4 eggs per day 5 days a week to get your testosterone gains, people often dont get that having more testosterone equals being more self confident, its way too good, trust me.
Just dont eat anything other then salt and pepper with the eggs and you are fine.
I eat pretty healthy. I haven't eaten fast food in almost a year now. And eat 1-2 meals a day. Total calories for the day around 1600 to 2300 calories. I'll give what you said a try. I've been plateauing when it comes to weight loss the last couple weeks but have been able to lift more.
Thanks anon, I'll try this starting next week.
Bull. You can work out 7/week natty. Obviously you're not doing a PPL split during that, its the same concept as the full body 5x split - You just spread out your volume over 5 days, except this time you do it over 7 days. GVS said he did it, which gave me the idea. Been doing it for only a few weeks now, but feels good and no issues with recovery yet - just be smart about it and autoregulate if necessary. Another thing I do is have 2 "pseudo-rest days" where I only do isolation work for small muscles eg. side/rear delts, biceps, calves, abs, just shit that doesn't cause much fatigue.
I had that same shit where every rest day I just wanted to go lift again, I'm also homegym which makes it alot easier
Dang alot of good info man thanks. Doing it the way you explain kind of seems intimidating to me. Just the planning out and making sure I'm doing the right workouts is tough. It's easier for me to just go in and set the machines to a certain way and lift. But I'm definitely going to be working more towards what you recommended. Thanks again.
Newbies cannot overtrain, only under eat and under sleep.
Terrible take. It is easier for someone lean to hit 1234 than for a fatty to recomp and hit it. Eat more.
I don't give a shit if you looked shit up. The internet told you what you wanted to hear, so what? It doesn't change the fact that you are not building muscle and your routine is worthless.
But you lift for women so no one cares. Just keep being a fat stupid homosexual.
>I don't give a shit if you looked shit up.
What? The objectivity of the universe doesn't give a frick if you've looked something up moron.
>It doesn't change the fact that you are not building muscle and your routine is worthless.
Again objectively false I have gained noticeable muscle.
>But you lift for women so no one cares.
No I lift for myself so that I can get a wife.
>Just keep being a fat stupid homosexual.
I've showed proof of me losing weight. Want to give a frick what you say moron at that people like you in my life and I know I could crush their throat with my hand if I needed to. You're no different.
I got banned last week for saying it.
Listen, breasts. You asked for advice and then refused it when you got it. You posted pictures of your dogshit physique claiming 'progress'. You have built ABSOLUTELY ZERO muscle and are still a fat fricking slob.
You choose to ignore the advice YOU ASKED FOR, so you will keep being a fat weak little b***h.
You aren't crushing anyone's throat except your own with adipose tissue.
bench doesn't have a vertical bar path so the smith machine actually hinders correct movement patterns
Why not just do a real routine. Totally bizzare mindset
How is it bizarre and how isn't it a real routine?
Yeah you're not giving me advice You're trying to demoralize me lol And I have objectively made progress and muscle You can't say I've built absolutely zero muscle when I objectively have. I've been ignored anyone's advice in this threat at all. If you could read you'd see that I appreciate the people and thank them for giving me advice. I guarantee I could kill you. And I praised you for actually fat shaming me instead of being a demoralizer negative Nancy. If you can't see progress in my pictures I guess you must be blind and moronic kek.
>How is it bizarre and how isn't it a real routine?
Google "Dunning–Kruger" and then when you are done google a newbie routine like starting strength or ice cream fitness or PPL.
You have no clue what you are doing.
>Dunning–Kruger
No need to be rude I just asked a simple question. And the routine I posted is what I got when I googled beginner routines and did what I could depending on the machines my gym had. Thanks for not being a complete gayot and giving me a couple things to look into.
>You have no clue what you are doing.
Probably just as much as every other beginner. But at least this has gotten me into a routine and I've objectively gotten stronger.
You posted a picture flexing and there is just empty space where your muscle should be you delusional little toad. I told you to do free weights and you're all like "Smith machine good waaahhhh i can't pick up a weight because grandparents waaaahhhh"
The sheer arrogance of thinking you would win, let alone survive a physical altercation with me is hysterical. Your max bench is my OHP warmup.
>Smith machine good waaahhhh i can't pick up a weight because grandparents waaaahhhh
I never said any of that. I never even said that a Smith machine was good or bad. I 100% one. You don't even know how to make up logical argument You just made something up and then argued against that thing you made up. Kek. I know for a fact now I'm going to make it.
>t. Delusional homosexual who will never make it
Kek keep trying to demoralize because you're scared of the competition. You're a scared cowardly pussy.
How are you 1/2/3/4 when you don't Squat or deadlift or OHP, how would you even know what your numbers are? Can you even ohp a smith machine?
>How are you 1/2/3/4 when you don't Squat or deadlift or OHP
>Can you even ohp a smith machine?
It's not hard to do. Just YouTube how to do it then do it.
>how would you even know what your numbers are?
I added the plates then added 25lbs more to compensate for the lighter bar. Then did it.
I don't know how many times I have to keep telling you guys this I'm not bragging about doing 1/2/3/4 on a Smith I just said that's how I did it. Then I asked about the validity of Smith machines because that's all I have access to at this moment. Then asked for further advice. Jesus fricking Christ you say Smith machine and you gayots reeeee worse then the incels on LULZ
I won't youtube how to do it because I don't want to do it, I just didn't know if they went high enough
Yeah dude we all hate Smith machines because they are bullshit, and defending them makes you the biggest fricking gay homosexual on the planet.
I never fricking defended a Smith machine You fricking brain dead dog shit moron moron. Jesus fricking Christ. You Rudypoo's can't even fricking read
In terms of aesthetics? Honestly none. Stabilization isn't what makes your muscles grow or I'd get jacked as frick from walking on a balance beam haha. Your muscles don't know the difference between a barbell, dumbbells, Smith machine, Hammerstrength machine, or bodyweight. They know tension, and they know stress.
However, personally I would recommend that beginners stick with free weights and only more advanced lifters use machines (with the exception of cables).
The reason for this is that machines lock you into a certain plane of motion. When you're starting out, it's important to get a feel for how your body needs to move and how certain exercises are supposed to feel. When you use a machine or the Smith machine, you have to be able to know how to set it up properly in line with your body and the way that it moves and you can't really do that if you haven't actually mastered the lift and developed a good mind-muscle connection and understanding of your own body mechanics yet.
Well you use a Smith machine so we aren't really competing. I lift weights, you cope.
What?
I only squat with the machine
Why? Why are you a gay? And why do you squat with the Smith machine?
I'm new to lifting and I don't know my limits yet, don't want to injure myself.
Smith machine is far more risky than free weights. You're screwing yourself by not training yourself to stabilise the weight.
Those numbers are full of shit. The average guy off the street will bench about 180lbs with no prior training, though most start with lower weight to learn technique first. It should take about 6 months to reach 225, 12-24 to reach 315.
Post body
The average non-obese guy benches about 40kg 1rm including the bar.
I can't bench that much, my goal is to be as strong as the average untrained 15 year old boy. Currently I can do 150 for 3 after 4 months of PPL in surplus and 6 months of not quite regular 3 day full body in deficit before that. But most men aren't ayy lmao lanklets like me.
The average 15yo untrained boy benches 20-30kg with proper form
Trust me, I've seen these zoomer homosexuals. Also, just about any strength standard website agrees with my estimates, and disagrees with yours. The only way an untrained nonlifter guy (barring some 99th percentile outlier with reduced rom due to barrel chest etc.) benches anywhere close to 185 is by doing 1/8 reps, i.e. not actual benching
When I started out I was doing gigacope 10kg floor presses with dumbbells, could maybe manage 8 reps. I was extremely weak however after 28 years of not doing anything with my body
Sure, but this doesn't make the average NONLIFTER 3-4 times as strong as your untrained former self. I constantly see average men (newbies) struggle with sub 1pl8 weights on the bench.
Keep in mind that the average nonlifter is maybe 5'11" and 150 lbs if lean soccer player mode, or 170ish flabby, so my estimates make sense. Maybe a 5'11" 240 fat construction worker could put up 185 the first time he tries benching, but that's not representing an average dyel
I agree actually, I think at best they'd be something like twice as strong as I was then
How are these number full of shit? Like bad? Or do you think I'm lying? Cause I'm not I literally go to the gym 5-6 days a week doing this routine for the last 2 months. Going up in levels. Like I said I don't bench I only use machines and tried out the Smith machine twice To do 1/2/3/4. I haven't done any 1rm with free weights but I can 1rm all the machines. I e worked physical labor jobs my whole life. Pic me. Feel free to fat shame me.
Also me at my biggest
Please put on pants please
No thanks I blurred out my privates.
Congrats on your weight loss, here’s to the next 70 lost, but seriously, put on some god damn pants
Lol I'll never put on pants I'd post without the genital censor but got warned last time. I think it's useful for people to see everything.
G9 b9 m9
Damn look at that hank hill ass lmfao
This is why 1/2/3/4 is fatty cope. Imagine looking like this guy and trying to claim Smith machine numbers as your lifts. I highly doubt you can even lift what you claim you can. You're too fat to be taken seriously
1/2/3/4 is not cope. it literally helps lifters aim for a concrete and achievable goal. there will always be morons taking the easy way (e.g., bloating) to achieve anything.
I made the claim preferencing it with the fact that I used a Smith machine lol. I don't know how to prove it. I work out 5 to 6 days a week with the regimen I posted and on top of that I work a physical labor job. I posted a pic of my progress also. I was also asking about the legitimacy of Smith machines because I did that on one? I wish you were near me I bet I could outlift you. It'd be great having a fatty destroy your world.
>does 1 pull up
>mogs your entire existence
Except its always going to be harder for lean people to hit 1/2/3/4 which is why that goal is cope. It's easy for ugly fat people and hard for attractive lean people. So fats use it to brag when meanwhile they look like Jabba. Look at this fat frick here
He weights 260
A 1pl8 OHP is .5x body weight
2 pl8 bench is sub 1x body weight
3 pl8 squat isn't even 1.5x body weight and a 4 pl8 bench isn't even 2x.
Relative to his body weight his numbers are complete trash. Yet because 1/2/3/4 only measures weight and not relative weight, this fat frick is walking around proud of his non existent strength. ALSO 1/2/3/4 says nothing about the Smith machine. So if he didn't disclose that information he would still be bragging about how he lifts 1/2/3/4 knowing full well he's cutting corners in every sense of the way.
If 1/2/3/4 is your goal, sure keep it. But understand that if this fat frick can claim 1/2/3/4 then it really means nothing in the end. He isn't healthy, he isn't strong. He's just fat.
I can do a pull up. Lmfao wtf?!?!?!
The assisted pull up machine doesn't count as a real pull up
>Relative to his body weight his numbers are complete trash.
Duh moron I've been morbidly obese practically my whole life and I just started losing weight in April and just started lifting 2 months ago. You keep claiming I'm bragging when all I've done is ask for advice. Sounds like you're just mad cuz I'm making progress.
>making progress
You literally just have to be normal to make progress
Terms like making progress should be reserved for people who have to try to make positive change. You don't even have to go on a diet. You can literally eat a recommended 2kcal a day and lose weight at your level of fatassness. Imagine a world where a fatty wants to be praised for literally doing the bare minimum. Congrats on getting out of bed too! I know it's hard for your kind
>Imagine a world where a fatty wants to be praised for literally doing the bare minimum.
Never asked for praise. Why do you keep arguing points I've never made? I've lost a shit ton of weight by fasting. I lost 45 lbs of that weight in 2 months by fasting and walking so I could get to a weight we're i felt comfortable working out. Guarantee I have more willpower and motivation than you ever will in your entire life homosexual. Even when I was 320 lb I was working physical labor jobs out on the fricking river. I'm always the person they ask to lift heavy shit at work my entire life. I'm strong I just ate a lot and had bad parents who enforced bad eating habits. You would never be able to get out of the situation I was put in. There's a difference between fat shaming me like I asked and being a complete fricking c**t moron like you're being right now. The fact that you think you can demoralize me is insane. I can tell you're a fricking pussy.
Once again you're not asking for it, yet your acting as if the things you've accomplished are deserving of it. Losing 45lbs as a 300lb fat ass is literally as easy as getting a haircut
>my parents made me fat
Yup they sure stuffed all that junk down your throat. Another fatty deflection. It can never be your fault right
>worked physical labor my whole life
Probably cause you're also dumb as rocks but that's a different topic
Every post you sound more worthless. I'm not even trying to demoralize you. The sole fact is. Youre already demoralized and you're looking for validation from others. Nobody is going to tell you good job for hitting 1/2/3/4 as a fat ass, on the Smith machine. And nobody cares how much weight you've lost when you still look like a human bowling ball
Now I definitely know you're a troll at this point. Everything you've said is objectively wrong. I don't care about your fricking validation n*****. You calling me stupid is hilarious.
Yeah me calling you stupid is hilarious. Because the term is more like idiotic or moronic. I mean really. Did you really post your "body progress pics" thinking you made some sort of accoplishment.
And yes everyone who is stuck doing manual labor their whole life is typically stupid. One way or another.
Who said I was stuck in manual labor? I went to school to become a biomed tech but left school because of the politics of the leftists. I refuse to give money to institutions like that. And I'm naturally strong so why wouldn't I go into a job where I can get stronger? Also Im making more money than all my friends who have degrees. I post my body progress pics because it's helped me when other people have posted theirs. And I've objectively made progress. Sorry I'm I choose to be a beacon of light for others while you choose to be a dark loser void. From our conversation I know I'm a lot more intelligent than you'll ever be. And I have a stronger will.
>left school because of arbitrary politics
Yup moron alert
>fat boy thinks he is a beacon of light
Lmao. You actually block more light. Cause you're fat. Fatty.
Your real vote is with your dollar. Keep crying because I have standards and the will to enforce them.
>Lmao. You actually block more light. Cause you're fat. Fatty.
See there you go some actually good positive fat shaming. It took you a while but I know you could do it.
>The average guy off the street will bench about 180lbs with no prior training
Imagine being this delusional
Is that a lot or a little? I'm new and not smart.
thats way too much, most people start with half of this.
Well I'm confused.
You dont need to focus on numbers when you are starting out mate, train how it feels right for you.
Just determine a weight that fits for you to do the 8-12 reps max with and i mean max, you should not be able to do more then 12.
And then do 3 or 4 sets with this weight, leave enaugh rest in between sets and you will soon see progress. Good luck.
I might be able to 1rm that. Maybe I should try and find a real bench instead of a Smith
You 100% should. If you have never used a real barbell there will be a bit of an adjustment but do it now
I have used it before but I was like 10 years ago. Would you be able to tell be if the weight I'm lifting at with machines is a good beginner weight? I've been starting to incorporate some free weight dumbbells every so often. I always feel like I look moronic though. Kek
im not talking about 1rm, who tf gives a shit about 1rm? I mean 8-12 reps 3-4 sets.
It's useful to know...... And I was just saying I might be able to 1rm that. When I do my workout I do 3 sets of 10 reps. I posted my workout above.
or even less if i think about it.
90 pounds too low. Most men I think can start around 135 lbs
Bait on Christmas Eve. Have you no shame?
Im dyel as frick and gym rat according to that
HEY READ THIS FRIENDS!
When I was sick with covid I had muscle pain all day and at a certain point my mind started interpreting all that pain the same as light passing through my body. Since then I feel in all pain the same way I feel light; as a wavelength passing through my physical form instead of as a sensation radiating out from inside me. I don't know how I can benefit from this, but it's pretty neat.
That's pretty awesome. I can switch into that mode too now after years of meditation. It's not like ignoring the pain or dealing with the pain, more like transcending it and it becomes something cool to look at. Hope this is the beginning of a wonderful journey for you fren
My bench has gone from 40kg 5x5 to 80kg 5x5 in 6 weeks.
Am I going to snap my shit up at this rate or is this normal?
I actually did 80kg 5 x 8 the last week because I felt so pumped.
I played sports in highschool 10 years ago but never went to the gym before I started recently.
No other of my lifts are going up this fast. I can barely OHP 40kg for example.
Your bench 1rm isn't actually going up that fast, you're just working up toward your limit.
I'm almost a gym rat. I'm at 205 4x5. Gonna do 215 on Monday. I fricked around too long with dumbbells and have been focusing on my bb bench more lately.
What is the equivalent of this for floor press? I was doing 280 on flat bench before shoulder surgery confined me to floor press. Now I do 50 lb floor press 5x10
>tfw moving up from beginner to gym worm
>casual homosexual: bench under 315
>actually trains: bench 315+
nothing more to it
How to cope with the fact that most gyms in the third world I live don't have enough necessary equipment? I swear the cheapest gyms next to my house have like only 1 or 2 benches it looks awful and I'm not experienced enough with different exercises to adapt. My only option is to walk 10km.
Also, info overload as a newbie really fricks with my mind, I guess I just gotta stop thinking about routines and lift.
You just need a barbell and a rack. Just focus on the major compound exercises. Squat, deadlift, overhead press, bench, rows. All of them just use a barbell. No need for fancy equipment. Also you'll want to do pullups too.
I want to deadlift, bench press, ohp and squat but I've never seen people deadlift where I live, the gyms are filled with machines and people are addicted to them it's really bizarre.
I have no issue with that list, but what about dumbbells?
~40% of the barbell weight
>IST philosophers
shut the frick up
