>Never really gave BB rows a chance
>Only did DB rows and other row variations
>Thought there'd be some left over noob gains
>Can barely do 71kg 3x8 and stalled hard
I do them compeltely bent over with horizontal torso, no leg drive or other whole body assistance
My DB rows was 60kg full rom
Core strength helps immensely at getting that initial explode off the floor. Once that's built up, you basically just brace your core, make sure the initial movement is scapular retraction, and then just pull the shit out of it.
t. 2.5pl8 Pendlay rows for reps.
Clarification: I don't mean pendlay rows. I dont start from a dead stop. My torso is just angled like pic related from start to finish of a set. I do regular BB rows, or atleast what I consider regular rows. None of these bullshit yates 2" hump ego rows.
The principles for Pendlay rows and bent over rows are identical.
Try doing only one set to failure.
Too little volume Mr. Mentzer, very fantastic bahdi doe
>tries an exercise for the first time
>isn't immediately good at it
>"what's going on bros?"
you're moronic
>wants noob gains
>doesnt even try to do a linear progression of sets of 5
Lifting really doesn't attract the brightest people, does it?
How close are you too failure? Maybe the resistance curve is messing with you. Are you able to do the bottom a bit but struggle to actually pull up to your chest even when you have strength left?
0-1 reps away from failure
One set to failure, aim for 6-12 reps, then hold 10 seconds contracted, then lower weight as long as possible. Then move on to next exercise
I've started doing those and it's so fricking hard to grind reps without breaking technique
Barbell rows are the most moronic row variation there is, there is literally zero reason to do them over other rows
>But muh stabilization muscles!!
Rows are supposed to be a back exercise, not hamstring, no lower back, and even then, a single rep of warming up deadlift already gives you more activation on those muscles than a whole set of BB rows
> but muh functional strength
There is no such thing as functional strength, that is just a buzz word fitness influencers use to sell you overpriced programs, and even then, dumbell rows and deadlift are a lot more inline with what movement you would actually do in RL
There isn't even a standard way of doing this, everyone do them different and is pretty easy to cheat on them and you won't even notice
God I hate BB rows, literally every row variation is superior in every single way without exception, including dumbell rows. and you can't even properly progress in them because you are stupidly bottlenecking your lifting potential by your stabilization muscles
What are good row variations?
Personally I prefer chest supported row when I can
Machine or on a bench?
My gym has trash machines
Maedows row.
We get it bro, you suck at rows. Calm down.
>t. can't row 2pl8
Bro I don't know how else to tell you but you're just not in the same world of comprehension and body awareness if you think the motor pattern of a barbell row is overrated. Your thinking is in line with just about every dyel i've come across in life
Yeah I stall hard on these too. Why not just do chins?
I use bb rows as my main lift on back days then take myself to the chest supported row kajigger for the actual workout/pump. Barbell rows are nice because their a compound movement but for the good stuff do chest supported rows into cable rows. Or you can just do all three and quit being a b***h about it, ymmv.
you just have bad back genetics. everyone has some set of muscles that lag behind everything else.
