Is it just me, or have people woken up to the whole strengthcel?

Is it just me, or have people woken up to the whole strengthcel / powersharting thing as being bullshit?

For some reason, in the early 2010s, there developed this belief that a natural lifter had to train like a powerlifter in order to make gains, and that Hypertrophy training only works for steroid users

Is it safe to say this belief is debunked now?

Because the online fitness culture has shifted from skinnyfat millenials who would just blatantly lie about the results of their programs and the results of meme diets like keto on forums, to zoomers who actually show off their physiques on social media. Ironically lifting culture has swung back much closer to the 90s-2000s style of bodybuilder training and dieting, because it turns out it was always more effective for making gains than the memeshit being pushing by fat wannabe powerlifters online.

I'm a 29 year old boomer who wasted a lot of his motherfricking time with that shit in the early 2010s. Never again. Guys who deceive fresh faced young men into dark paths deserve a special place in hell.

It really depends on genetics. 10-20% of people can get really good hypertrophy, others can get lean but not really built.

I'd still say try both, "muuhh optimal rep ranges" are a meme and those results are based on the "average" findings. Problem is nobody is a dead center average person, you could have muscle groups that work well with 5 reps and muscle groups that work well with 30 reps. I only got my lats to pop once I started training for 5RM weighted pull ups for fun lmao

How did you train lats/pull ups before doing 5RM weighted?

The usual Gym bro way, on pull days consisting of various vertical and horizontal pulling, Usually on cables and machines, about 15 sets a week total on those

        >5 reps can work, but likely not always well
        >10-20 reps just about always works
Switch up rep ranges for lacking parts and see what works for you, hypertrophy rep range is really wide

if you have weak forearms forget about pullups. theyre tire out before you even start hitting the back muscles properly

Go ahead and make a thread shitting on SS/SL and similar meme programs and you'll have at least 20 Black folk come out of the woodwork to defend them

its a generation issue. Back then (20 years ago) people would still do moronic shit, like curling biceps with shitty form for 20 sets, with no other work done whatsoever, then call it a day. The power/strength meme was a foolproof way to force morons to put in work - if you work out your whole body with some nice volume/weight/form you WILL have to get some results. Also doing compounds forces you to learn the form, its not an accessory machine that lets you "just push" the lever forward.

As for zoomers, they realized that getting fat is bad, but you also have to workout properly at the same time. I would call it an evolution.

No basically you had men who weren't willing to acknowledge they were lifting to look good. So they had to have "muh functional strength!!!!" where they could pretend like they were lifting to be strong.

Then people realized they just look like fat people if they're outside of a gym and people said "frick that shit"

Idk OP I was unironically getting strong as frick when I was eating everything in sight and doing hypertrophic exercise. Now that I’m doing the same while maintaining a lower bf I’m not really getting anywhere.

Powerlifting will get you gains too you fricking morons. If your at the point where you can rep 275 on the bench for reps of 8 compared to 205 you will have gained a ton of muscle. That’s why it’s good to take time to run strength programs then switching back to hypertrophy once your strength has improved

      This.

I spent *years* doing the 8-12 rep range isolation bro splits and while I made some noob gains, anything would trigger noob gains. This is explained in the SS book.

I have been strength training for 4 months and this is the best I have ever looked and the strongest I have ever been. If a skinny young guy adds 100 poinds to your bench he will look better.

Natties need to squat, deadlift, bench, OHP, and chin.

        >I have been strength training for 4 months and this is the best I have ever looked and the strongest I have ever been.
Because this is the longest you have lifted. You lifted for years, it takes time building muscle. You didn't built it in the last 4 months.

        >Natties need to squat, deadlift, bench, OHP, and chin.
No they don't. They can max out their natty potential or become pro bodyuilbders and never do these movements

Wow 275 on bench so impressive let me follow a moronic PL split and do 5x5 to get fricking a 275 bench LMAO

    Yesterday
    >dyels on fit obsessed with muh fahves, GOMAD, squats and oats
    Before yesterday
    >dyels obsessed with zyzz, scooby, bodybuilding, aesthetics etc.
The cycle will complete itself dyels will return to powershitting and then aesthetics and then powershitting. The dyel cycle never ends, ngmi, only shitpost and never actually lift.

idk i've always assumed you needed a mix of both. you need to be able to lift heavier weights to progress with hypertrophy so adding power would be a logical move
