Is it normal to lose weight after starting lifting?

Is it normal to lose weight after starting lifting?
I was a 55 kilo stick, now down to 54 after two weeks of lifting even though I've been eating protein and carbs every day and didn't do any cardio
I was very inactive prior, and the gym is a 10-minute walk, so I walk for 20 minutes three times a week, maybe that's why
also, when am I gonna see gains
I think my shoulders are wider and I'm overall more robust-looking, but not really seeing any gains
my arms and shoulder muscles did become bigger and I can lift/bench press 25-30 kilos now, an incredible feat for my thin ass that could barely lift 10-15 before.
I can only squat 20, though, and the part where my left leg connects to my ass hurts after I squatted 25, so I went back to 22.25 and 20
Also, when doing barbell rows, am I supposed to lift the metal up until it touches my chest? I can't do that yet

a bit, yeah, I'm 175 cm and 54 kilos now, the fat is all in my gut

Drink a litre of water. I drop 1kg after my morning shit and gain 2kg back after breakfast. If you're worried about losing weight, eat more food, it's the simplest thing in the world. Doesn't matter if you think you're eating a lot, if you're not gaining weight it means you need more.
      >when am I gonna see gains
Definitely not after 2 weeks lol. You'll see gains when you notice your lifts go up. Your lifts at the moment are very low so don't expect to look muscular while you're still quite weak. Don't be impatient, this is a long term commitment. Stick to it and you'll get there eventually, and your life as a skinny wimp will be nothing but a distant memory.

thanks bro, I think it's good to lose some fat, actually, but I'll have to up my calorie intake, guess I'll just cook and eat plain pasta, maybe try some weird pasta made with tomatoes and squid ink

OP, how much water are you drinking daily? Before i started lifting, I was drinking a gallon a day, eating almost 3k calories a day, pissing off all the water and still losing weight. turns out i was a type 1 diabetic.

A little more than half a gallon, but these days I've been drinking less for some reason.

it takes 2-4 weeks to feel any gains (eg noticing your muscle tone while showering) and 6-8 to see them. This is approximately true for any new exercise you introduce into your routine. Just be consistent. I work out 6 days/week, alternating between two different workouts. I gained 15% of bodyweight over the first year going from 135lbs - 155lb.
I think it's better to do lots of reps with moderate weight than to do small numbers of reps with the biggest weight you can. When you're skinny your joints, bones, and tendons do more of the work and putting them under too much strain is a shortcut to injury.

Thanks, I'll try doing more reps with less weight. I feel like I fricked up my bones or tendons a little bit.

It's supposed to touch the top of your stomach. Keep your elbows in.

Thanks anon. I learned to keep my back straight and my back doesn't even participate in the exercise, all the pressure's on the shoulders and arms

Brings me back to the days I wanted to breed my track & field coach when I was 14.
Difference is that she was white and there was no race mixing motivations since I'm white.
There was 1 track meet where she asked me if I needed a ride there, and it would just be me and her in the car. I autistically turned down her offer telling her my mom would drive me there.
I still kick myself over that one.

It's just your body waking up from hibernation, pissing fluids and shitting crap as it should do

      kino

op you are new to weight gain so you don't understand that your weight is going to fluctuate on a day to day basis of up to 1 kilogram through intake of food and water and through piss and shit.
But what normally happens when you start a bulk is that you instantly ""gain"" at least 2 kilograms, which is nothing but food that's still in your system. The fact that it didn't happen for you means you need to eat more.
Yes it is normal not to see a difference after two weeks, it takes longer than that. Besides since you look in the mirror everyday you'll never see a clear difference unless you take pictures or get compliments from family.
Finally it's normal to not be able to touch your chest on barbell back exercises. It depends on your body and the length of your arms. You probably won't be able to touch the bar on pull ups and lat pulldowns either, but that's fine just go as far as possible.
As a teen i was a stick too at less than 55 kilo, now i'm at 70. good luck and eat more

      Thanks bro

it is at first. Now I can eat over 1800kcal in a single meal. Your stomach capacity expands as you eat to the vomit limit. 250 grams of pasta, lot of olive oil, then peanut butter sandwitches and half a liter of milk. Key is adding sauce to your boring ass carbs. You most likely stop producing saliva after eating 100 grams of pasta or rice, well then make sure to spam tomato sauce and eat with a glass of water on the side so that doesn't become a problem. Let it slide down

Bros, does exercise and protein strengthen your tendons and hamstrings and shit? Are these things muscles, too?

it does. Rest if your tendons hurt. Don't squat or whatever else for a bit if you get weird tendon shit. and warm up ffs

    Don't worry!
    You lost fat!!!!
It's also normal to lose like 0.2-0.3 kg of muscle the first month, until your body gets used to the new energy intake dynamics. You will start seeing great noobie gainz as soon as your body learns how to use energy to build muscle instead of using muscle for energy.
But there's no way you lost 1kg of muscle in less than a month if you are eating properly. You are losing fat at the same time you are building muscle.
If you are too thin, try not to go under 10% bodyfat, I've been there and you feel like shit all day, always tired. So eat well until you look vascular enough, and try to keep that amount of fat.
Once you become muscular, do whatever you want with your bf%, you can go for strength or for aesthetics.

Keep it up Anon!!! You are doing great!!!
