I think the mother's dad's height actually has the most influence. My mom is 6' even, her dad is 6'4. My dad is 6' even, but his dad is like 5'6 or some shit. Me and my brother are both around 6'3.
If I have kids with my girl, who is 5'4 with a 6'3 dad, there's a high likelihood that my male sons will be tall. Though it's not always for certain. Genetics does have a part of randomness in it for sure.

Seems kind of random IMO. I'm personally in the middle between my moms (relative to the norm) height and my dads, my sister seems to have gotten my dads length. But I also know 2 guys whose parents are on the short side and they are both 6'2.
