Yes. Eugene Sandow used light weights like that. The trick is to focus on contracting the muscle as hard as possible, rather than just banging out the rep. Also you need to do it at least 6 days a week.

Eugene Sandow spread that idea as part of a marketing campaign. Light weights are easier to ship and easier to convince people to start.

This. I have no idea why people keep peddling that shit when according to him it was literally intended for beginners to reach a basic level of fitness. It isnt going to build muscle

Good job, I never expected this. Don't train upper body though. With just 15 lbs (or 30 if you have two) you will need a lot of reps, or very hard awkward exercises like pistol squats. Do bridges. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=g5p1FVxOHX8

You can do alot with those and bodyweight when it comes to upper body. (do pushup variations, use dumbells for arms) That isnt much weight for legs tho, i would recommend bulgarian split squats while holding them. Honestly you dont need much more. Maybe find a place to do negative pullups. Im writing this assuming you are the cute girl in the pic

at a certain point you'll just be doing cardio rather than lifting, but yes it's possible. You won't get big, you'll burn more than you build, but you could, under circumstance, become leaner and possibly a little bigger than you are already.

How the frick would you know? Have you trained with light weights? This whole board is full of posters giving advice on shit they have never even tried.

I have. It doesn't work. You need to be within a certain proximity of your maximum capability for it to do anything. Ie. 5rm for singles, 6rm for doubles, 7rm for triples, and so on. Yes, in theory that can go down to like 30%1rm for sets of 20, but that's if they're clean reps in cadence. In my experience they won't be due to cardiovascular demands that you don't meet because you're a lifter and not a runner (this is why people says high reps is cardio, it very likely is), and so they're just rest pause sets, which is basically a bunch of singles, which as I mentioned need to be at least your 5rm.

Assuming you have 2 of each, yes lol. 10 and 15 is more than enough for upper since you look like such a skinny mini. It's a little light for legs, so bss are going to be better. Hug the weight to your chest to carry more than 1 dumbbell at a time. The only thing that actually matters in the end is consistency so just find something you'll do and stick to it

    For a woman: yes
For men: no (25 lb is probably ok for men)

Get something to do pullups on for lats and biceps (a tree branch, door trim if its strong, etc). Something you can hang from with your feet at body level (eg: a broom across two chairs), to work your back. Get something heavy thats low (eg: a table) and lift it up until you're standing, for your posterior chain. Two chairs for dips for your triceps and chest. A wall for handstand pushup progression. Chair + bed or dresser for more advanced crunches for abs and obliques. Block of wood or brick for calf lifts. Bulgarian squat with two chairs and progress to one legged deep squat for quads and glutes. All on top of doing regular bodyweight calisthenics of progressively increasing difficulty. If you don't have a gym available, get creative

Yes. Science has proven that results are identical in the 6-36 rep range. If that’s all you have, then just let her rip bud.
But if you find yourself being able to do more than 36 reps on any exercise, then it’s time to buy some heavier ones.

  27. 3 months ago

You need progressive overload to grow.
In a month or two you would get to where a single set takes you multiple minutes of As Many Reps As Possible(AMRAP) - you would basically be conditioning your joints at that point
this is also why bodyweight sucks once you're past the initial stage - calisthenicsgays solve this problem by doing increasingly difficult moves

but if youre a tiny woman(ops pic) then you CAN get good results from that weight

Listen here little baby. You're gonna get a lot of hurtful and degrading comments, but that ain't what I'm about. Let me just say, you are perfect the way you are. You hear me sugar? PERFECT. Don't ever change. You deserve anything and everything you want. Stay safe for me, baby girl.

    >mfw thinking about you hurting

  29. 3 months ago

It would give you very minimal muscle growth until 10-15 lbs is too light for you to continue progressively overloading.

You absolutely will not look good trying to just frick around with those baby weights.

At that point you might as well do calisthenics as you would benefit more from your bodyweight

  32. 3 months ago

If prison Black folk can get big by eating rat sloppy seconds and doing calisthenics, you can get big with small weights as long as you are consistent and actually pushing yourself.
Now post breasts or sharpie in pooper. Them's the rules.
