That's the point. He never gave a shit about being fit. He just wanted to be mentally tough and to flagellate himself. Fitness was literally just a way to torture himself into not being spiritually weak. It just happened to have the side effect of making him physically strong

How is better recovery = more torture? I suppose without roids he would have to cope with more random pains from overtraining.
            Just running long hours

It's doubtful whether he actually did those things he talks about or he exagerates. During a recent ultramarathon he got lost, slept for 12 hours, resumed the race, and then got pulmonary edema and instead of soldiering on went to the hospital which disqualified him. He then finished it but still was a DNF because of the outside help.

without feeling pain in your joints and feet is not unpleasant, mostly just boring.

If you tear your bicep and your doc says you're out of the left arm game for X weeks, you can make that X/2 or whatever by taking roids and then immediately rip your bicep out again quicker. You can rip your bicep out twice as much. It's every self-harmer's dream.

Ok cool, google tells me roughly 250 men are recruited in SEAL teams annually. I guess it makes joining the Elite Israel Defenders quite difficult, but I doubt other 249 dudes had to ruin their bodies in process. Chances are, the other 249 dudes just trained hard with progressive overload, ate well, did steroids, and were able to pass. There was no superhuman effort on their part, no tryharding and bookwriting.

Sure. But Goggins' story has him pushed against deadlines to reach the goal. He was about to age out of the application window when he had to lose weight and get in shape. Consequences of his past actions, sure, but he had to put himself into the position to go 0 to 60 pretty quickly.
              >There was no superhuman effort on their part, no tryharding and bookwriting.

You say all of this as if it is not a gargantuan effort that only very few people could make. "Bro all they did was pass BUD/s and SQT easy squeezy". These days, most people that fail to earn their trident fail because of involuntary injuries, like shins snapping from excessive running or losing consciousness underwater. Normal people do not make it through these types of programs because a normal person would cut their losses when they realize that the job isn't worth the suck.

He accomplished nothing notable, incredible, noble, selfless, beautiful, original, creative, or even controversial. His one true accomplishment is being able to sell his painful mediocrity as something amazing, the way he's done it is by endlessly torturing himself on a way towards it. It's practically the same as people who get guinness world records for smashing the most coconuts with their left shin. He's the only one to do it because nobody is moronic enough to try or care. Actual champions compete in well-regarded sports where they'll have genuine competition, in which case it'll mean something when they're the best at what they do.

On one hand I kind of agree with you, but on the other unless you are very genetically gifted and dedicated full time it's impossible to be competitive at a world class level in any actual sport.
So it makes sense to seek a niche where you can at least be competitive.
When Goggins won his ultras that "sport" wasn't as popular but still there were other people training and competing.

He is a media prostitute. I read the first book because I bought into the hype of the videos. The thing nobody talks about is the last chapter where he literally thinks he's dying because his body is so damaged and broken. The chapter focuses on him feeling absolute misery over the bodily pain and reflecting on why the self-flagellation he espoused was also damaging to him and his relationships, to which it ends suggesting that nobody follow in his footsteps.
Now why would he make a point to have all that described, yet every homosexual tiktok and Instagram video is still "bruh, I'm taking souls while roooning in California and hawaii"? It's because he needed CYA material to not get him sued into the stone age when some moronic 17 year old dies from rhabdo trying to mimic the fricker.
You know who else lost a significant amount of weight, and was promoted by sponsorships? Jared Fogle. Look where he is now.
Do not idolize men. Recognize their accomplishments, but do not put yourself to their standard since you will only chase your own inauthenticity. Create your own story.

I will idolize men, both fictional and non fictional. Doesn’t matter if it’s Hercules or goggins hayo myszaki or the little girls he draws. They all inspire me. I come out of the castle in the sky as a pillar of my community. And I yell who’s going to Carry the boats when I find myself at the tail end of a long series of strenuous labour. You limit yourself by reserving your admiration and deeming most as unworthy of emulation. Also your gay

A cynical take. Goggin’s book is much better summarized as him making the most of a shitty situation. The final chapters more importantly note that where he failed was by not being more adaptable with his approach. Staying hard cost him his career. He didnt get promoted to spec ops or something, and had to retire, which he claims is due to how unsocial he was as a SEAL. His story is a modern strategy. Everyone's bodies will fail eventually so the flagellation seethers are coping. Most people here will either perish or mimic Goggins in their own way, that being doubling down on their one quality and failing anyway.

This is why I don't like him as a public figure, people emulating him somehow only absorb the most moronic things about what he does like his non-existent injury prevention (which is why he's always injured) and his moronic tendency of trying to get permanently disabled by disregarding gradual progress on extreme feats.

Only by fasting it's doubtful but combined with doing cardio all day it's plausible. You would need to burn only 2000cal and change on top of your bmr, and in reality a lot of the weight will be water so less than that.

I'm not saying it's easy or normal, I'm just saying it's perfectly plausible for a maniac like Goggins, who does extreme amounts of heavy cardio. to lose a bit more than a pound a day for three months. I don't know what he did, but for example with swimming it would be somewhat easy given that you spend a huge amount of calories just keeping your body temperature up since the water around your body is constantly leeching it.
