That's the point. He never gave a shit about being fit. He just wanted to be mentally tough and to flagellate himself. Fitness was literally just a way to torture himself into not being spiritually weak. It just happened to have the side effect of making him physically strong
How is better recovery = more torture? I suppose without roids he would have to cope with more random pains from overtraining.
Just running long hours
It's doubtful whether he actually did those things he talks about or he exagerates. During a recent ultramarathon he got lost, slept for 12 hours, resumed the race, and then got pulmonary edema and instead of soldiering on went to the hospital which disqualified him. He then finished it but still was a DNF because of the outside help.
without feeling pain in your joints and feet is not unpleasant, mostly just boring.
>How is better recovery = to more torture
This moron was running until his meniscus was calcified and he was shitting out of his dick, according to him if you find him trustworthy
If you tear your bicep and your doc says you're out of the left arm game for X weeks, you can make that X/2 or whatever by taking roids and then immediately rip your bicep out again quicker. You can rip your bicep out twice as much. It's every self-harmer's dream.
What exactly is he improving? He probably slashed his lifespan significantly from the time he was a fat frick, he ruined his body with extreme workouts and roids, he had like 10 surgeries for his legs and heart. Dude would be long dead if a book deal and being a nogger didn't provide him funds to receive stste of the art medical help. His mindset is moronic and basically boils down to being a hard homie for the sake of being a hard homie. 99% of other homies think the same except they prefer crime to running.

Ok cool, google tells me roughly 250 men are recruited in SEAL teams annually. I guess it makes joining the Elite Israel Defenders quite difficult, but I doubt other 249 dudes had to ruin their bodies in process. Chances are, the other 249 dudes just trained hard with progressive overload, ate well, did steroids, and were able to pass. There was no superhuman effort on their part, no tryharding and bookwriting.
>David Goggins is a retired Navy SEAL and is the only member of the U.S. Armed Forces to complete SEAL training (including two Hell Weeks), the U.S. Army Ranger School (where he graduated as Enlisted Honor Man) and Air Force Tactical Air Controller training.

That's not actually impressive, its the opposite. He was moved around to different units because while being good at the basic training, he was a shit operator in the advanced training.
>Chances are, the other 249 dudes just trained hard with progressive overload, ate well, did steroids, and were able to pass.
Sure. But Goggins' story has him pushed against deadlines to reach the goal. He was about to age out of the application window when he had to lose weight and get in shape. Consequences of his past actions, sure, but he had to put himself into the position to go 0 to 60 pretty quickly. >There was no superhuman effort on their part, no tryharding and bookwriting.
lmao, writing shitty books is the national pastime for SEALs
You say all of this as if it is not a gargantuan effort that only very few people could make. "Bro all they did was pass BUD/s and SQT easy squeezy". These days, most people that fail to earn their trident fail because of involuntary injuries, like shins snapping from excessive running or losing consciousness underwater. Normal people do not make it through these types of programs because a normal person would cut their losses when they realize that the job isn't worth the suck.
dude you'll never do anything in your life, you don't value people that work hard and conquer their goals, you don't value fighters and athletes, you're a woman, you've never been through that so you will never relate or know what success feels like after years of struggle instead talk shit about everyone better than you so you don't have to do anything.

I value people's accomplishments. Goggins, in my opinion, hasn't accomplished anything out of ordinary. He accomplished nothing notable, incredible, noble, selfless, beautiful, original, creative, or even controversial. His one true accomplishment is being able to sell his painful mediocrity as something amazing, the way he's done it is by endlessly torturing himself on a way towards it. Sorry but I don't see self-harm as cool, masculine, or impressive. That's what emo kids and bipolar dykes do, not men. Men suffer when they have to, and they do it quietly, not to sell gay self-help books

On one hand I kind of agree with you, but on the other unless you are very genetically gifted and dedicated full time it's impossible to be competitive at a world class level in any actual sport.
So it makes sense to seek a niche where you can at least be competitive.
When Goggins won his ultras that "sport" wasn't as popular but still there were other people training and competing.

based, pain and suffering in itself can never be a goal, however, manganime has promoted it as something cool through shitty shonens, which is why the zoomers itt disagree with you
Anyone who can turn it around is based, not because of what other people think but because of what they have accomplished for themselves. He could have never became an internet personality and he'd still be based for the difference he made in his own life.
He is a media prostitute. I read the first book because I bought into the hype of the videos. The thing nobody talks about is the last chapter where he literally thinks he's dying because his body is so damaged and broken. The chapter focuses on him feeling absolute misery over the bodily pain and reflecting on why the self-flagellation he espoused was also damaging to him and his relationships, to which it ends suggesting that nobody follow in his footsteps.
Now why would he make a point to have all that described, yet every homosexual tiktok and Instagram video is still "bruh, I'm taking souls while roooning in California and hawaii"? It's because he needed CYA material to not get him sued into the stone age when some moronic 17 year old dies from rhabdo trying to mimic the fricker.
You know who else lost a significant amount of weight, and was promoted by sponsorships? Jared Fogle. Look where he is now.
Do not idolize men. Recognize their accomplishments, but do not put yourself to their standard since you will only chase your own inauthenticity. Create your own story.
I listened to it as an audio book, same as the Cam Hanes one. It's just hours of listening to these men jerk off, I didn't even understand what the book was even about.
I respect their achievements but they shouldn't really write books about themselves. Cam Hanes was 8 hours of jerking off noises with a pathetic climax at the end with Goggins. Full homo.
I value people's accomplishments. Goggins, in my opinion, hasn't accomplished anything out of ordinary. He accomplished nothing notable, incredible, noble, selfless, beautiful, original, creative, or even controversial. I will idolize men, both fictional and non fictional. Doesn’t matter if it’s Hercules or goggins hayo myszaki or the little girls he draws. They all inspire me. I come out of the castle in the sky as a pillar of my community. And I yell who’s going to Carry the boats when I find myself at the tail end of a long series of strenuous labour. You limit yourself by reserving your admiration and deeming most as unworthy of emulation. Also your gay
A cynical take. Goggin’s book is much better summarized as him making the most of a shitty situation. The final chapters more importantly note that where he failed was by not being more adaptable with his approach. Staying hard cost him his career. He didnt get promoted to spec ops or something, and had to retire, which he claims is due to how unsocial he was as a SEAL. His story is a modern strategy. Everyone's bodies will fail eventually so the flagellation seethers are coping. Most people here will either perish or mimic Goggins in their own way, that being doubling down on their one quality and failing anyway.
The general basic idea of pushing through adversity step by step by using your own will power is okay and should be adopted to some degree. but he takes it to a point of being masochistic . I meaning break every bone in your foot because you over did a multi marathon you didn't train for shouldn't be praised.
His story is interesting, and he seems to have accomplished a lot in his life. I read about half, 3/4 of his first book. His approach to running is horrifying, and most who emulate that approach will be ruined by injury.
If you can derive motivation from him I guess that's good, otherwise he seems pretty moronic.
He's like Forrest Gump running for four years straight but this is not a fantasy story so he's always grievously injured and will die probably within this decade.
Idk about the guy himself, his followers are hilarious through: https://www.reddit.com/r/davidgoggins/
Mainly people doing really basic training programs who like to say STAY HARD a lot. Mixed in with some absolute morons who think pushing through an injury is a way to prove your mental thoughness, when it's usually much harder to take a step back and do the right thing for your training progress in the long term.
This is why I don't like him as a public figure, people emulating him somehow only absorb the most moronic things about what he does like his non-existent injury prevention (which is why he's always injured) and his moronic tendency of trying to get permanently disabled by disregarding gradual progress on extreme feats.

I respect the drive but I hate the lies. The "I lost 100lbs in 3 months" just isn't true, its not possible, you cannot lose 1lb per day for 3 months. There is literally no evidence for it either except "trust me bros I ate his soul"
You actually can't do that with just water fasting, I promise you will never, ever provide any real evidence of this happening. The evidence doesn't exist.
Only by fasting it's doubtful but combined with doing cardio all day it's plausible. You would need to burn only 2000cal and change on top of your bmr, and in reality a lot of the weight will be water so less than that.
I don't know what evidence I could provide you though.
>be tall (and fat if possible) >water fast >walk multiple hours a day
I've done this myself, not for 3 months straight but for 14 days. I lost over a pound a day overall without counting water weight.
I'm not saying it's easy or normal, I'm just saying it's perfectly plausible for a maniac like Goggins, who does extreme amounts of heavy cardio. to lose a bit more than a pound a day for three months. I don't know what he did, but for example with swimming it would be somewhat easy given that you spend a huge amount of calories just keeping your body temperature up since the water around your body is constantly leeching it.
>if hypercortisolemia was a person
he even has raynauds syndrome and poor circulation in his extremities which is literally a direct result of chronically elevated cortisol lol
Read his first book. Currently half way through his new book. I like when he talks about his childhood and how he overcame the trauma and his experiences with the military. The running bits are a little boring but i’m not into running so that explains it
Both, but there are a lot of schizos who are twice as mentally tough as he is just through the sheer adversity of their lives that manage to be perfectly amicable people instead of "STAY HARD" pain junkies. His achievements are still pretty cool but he's not as special as he's hyped up to be.
His “I listened to a recording of me calling myself a b***h for 13 hours during a 100 mile run” shit that is absolutely cringe. The ultra runners that Rogan has on that are just normal people who enjoy running 200 plus miles for days straight are much more interesting.
Based, at least insofar as saying that most people don't truly push themselves as much as they could, but plenty of morons take him too seriously and frick themselves up trying to be like him - and the morons aren't millionaires who can afford the surgeries he had.
Pretty inspirational but the stuff he does is complete moronation. His body is fricked and I would be surprised if he runs again after what he did to his knee.
gynoBlack person if he cut
He fundamentally misunderstands fitness and thinks it's a form of self-flagellation.
It is, pleb
Future back pain complainer right here.
That's the point. He never gave a shit about being fit. He just wanted to be mentally tough and to flagellate himself. Fitness was literally just a way to torture himself into not being spiritually weak. It just happened to have the side effect of making him physically strong
Then why does he do roid? (If that is indeed true)
He does not seem that big overall BUT the chest in that picture just looks too big for a natty
Because it helps his recovery so he can torture himself more efficiently
How is better recovery = more torture? I suppose without roids he would have to cope with more random pains from overtraining.
Just running long hours
without feeling pain in your joints and feet is not unpleasant, mostly just boring.

Based, at least insofar as saying that most people don't truly push themselves as much as they could, but plenty of morons take him too seriously and frick themselves up trying to be like him - and the morons aren't millionaires who can afford the surgeries he had.
Based goggins

Pretty inspirational but the stuff he does is complete moronation. His body is fricked and I would be surprised if he runs again after what he did to his knee.
