Deadlift
Problem is, most zoomers and “aesthetics” lifters ignore these lifts because they’re homosexuals who would rather do bicep curls in the mirror. All showpony muscles, no actual strength.
Samegay
Nope
Yeah, god damn sex-havers need to cut that shit out and start lifting heavy to build a more t-Rex like physique.
>no actual strength.
You are only getting better at picking up heavy rocks. Powershitter training isn't going to make you a better fighter. Fighters train high rep, high volume
nobody said strength is the same as fighting skill, and having both is better than one or the other anyway. I seriously don't understand the "HAHAHA bodybuilders/powerlifters/weightlifters/calisthenics athletes/strongmen etc can't fight" crap, it'd be like asking marathon runners how much they bench or asking swimmers how much they can deadlift. Of course they're going to be shit at those things because they don't train for them, powerlifters will be shit at fighting just like fighters will be shit at powerlifting.
GOAT lower body movement but lower body is pretty irrelevant for men as long as you don't have chicken legs.
In my experience, it's the opposite. Zoomers clutter the racks to film themselves doing 10 sets with 135 lbs.
all the zoomers seem to be weirdly obsessed with back squats and sumo deadlifts. Seems like the lower body obsession that IST had in the early 2010s has reached the normiesphere
Youth culture is downstream from IST
Meh
Not the same because unlike on squats you can let go of the weight at any time, on squats you're going down and you may or may not come back up.
kek
One-arm towel pullup.
Squats are best because they build your entire posture chain and they trigger the release of testosterone and HGH.
I Currently have mad Doms from squats. Also I find it hard to find the shelf for the barbell sometimes cause I'm moronic, also I struggle to balance it correctly sometimes, I guess something with my settup is off.
Posterior means back side. Quads are on the anterior. Deadlifts work your entire posterior chain.
Yeah maybe he does really wide squats.
Not him but wider stance works that typically.
Hi anon, I had the same problem - for me I just had to gain mass on my back. It's easy to find the shelf and balance the bar if your traps and delts are pronounced. (No offence, you're going to make it if you're squatting)
I do rippetoes queue with the scapula of the back but could never really figure out where this fricking bone was so I just get under the bar and place it under my traps. Then I wedge the ever living shit out of myself under the bar until it its tighter than a virgin anus. The harder I wedge and the harder I pinch and squeeze my back the more stable the squat is
Overhead press, pull ups and barbell rows
Good options but they're not the same. OHP and pullups aren't particularly difficult and while barbell rows are a bit harder due to how out of breath they can make you if you're doing high reps and the mental effort required to stop body english, they still don't compare to squats.
Some of the stuff in this thread from earlier might help you

Thanks
>pain shot through my right knee months ago while doing squats, barely got the barbell back on the rack
>can't do squats since then without feeling pain, worried if I try to push it I'll just frick it up even worse
>go to physio
>find alternative exercises that work for you in the meantime
>wear knee sleeves
>muh squats
God I hate powershitters
No one said anything about powerlifting. You're being about as obnoxious as the Ketoschizo poster.
>mogs you just with his brute strength alone
Go do some more bicep curls, gay
I'm literally a bodybuilder and I still do 12 sets of squats a week. Cope more
Not even impressive. I can literally squat that 8x at 210lb body weight. This fat frick outs his entire identity into these strength lifts when he looks like shit and the numbers aren't even that impressive.
>*blocks your path*
>*throws you aside*
>"go home kid"
Zercher squats are just a different variation of squats so they rank the same as the other variations (low bar high bar front ssb etc).
Leaves you with cool bruises, works most of your body, feels good and is impressive to women (makes you seem like a crazy person) what is not to love
I like those but I use the classic oly lifting front rack position
The drawing for this is funny. Front squats are some of the most forward knee squats there are
anon.... it says zercher squat.
Brace, brace, do more squats, brace more.
Oh, and fire your glutes.
I noticed it afterwards, regardless it's still so weird having the mf spread his legs like that. I thought he was doing the weird cross arm front squats at first because the arms are so short
What's the difference between zercher and front squats? In terms of muscle activation
muh knees hurt, might be doing it worng.
>Some of the stuff in this thread from earlier might help you
Squats are gay
>Haha I put my BUTT close to the ground!
Pull-ups are the manliest. There's nothing manlier than lifting yourself off the ground with all your strength.
Too easy, there's no risk with going to failure (which isn't particularly difficult anyway on these movements) unlike with squats, and they are much easier exercises and they don't hit as much muscle compared to squats.
>muh risk
Doesn't matter. The fact is squats will never get you pussy, women don't want to watch you do that shit. On the other hand, put on a weight belt and start pounding out pull-ups and girls stop what they're doing and watch because you're instantly 100x manlier than everyone else.
>muh women
go back to LULZ
we lift for the bros here
Are you really manly if you can't get a gf though?
>120lb dyel thinks his set of 10 pullups is better than a 180lb chad squatting 4 plates for reps
Also
>muh pussy
I'm 200lbs and I do 10 pullups to my sternum
I can do 25 pull-ups at 210lbs homosexual
I can still do 25 with a level 3+ full plate vest on.
post vid, I wanna see your 1/8th reps
you're not doing deadhang guaranteed
see
You forgot
>if you’re not a manlet
If you weigh 140 pounds and have to jump to the bar it definitely loses some of its luster
LMAO this is cope: the post
A barbell squat with multiple plates is impressive and women love a strong man, trust me. Pull-ups are overrated, and don’t look impressive at all to the average person, they’re one of the most common exercises known to man. No woman is watching you do your autistic pull-ups.
Woman love men who lift heavy weights.
The only mogs I get in the gym are girls while I'm squatting twice their bodyweight. You think they care that some dyel Indian is doing pullups while some other guy with thighs they mirr is squatting her and her friends' weight on his back?
Also girls love a guy with an ass
You must be weak, it doesn’t take all my strength to do a pull-up
I used to be a bench first brolifter type in my younger days, at some point I read an article basically advocating for the Squat being the best compound movement to do and should be the #1 focus of every strength program. I don't remember all the authors points but one he made was basically how Squatting isn't a "leg exercise" it is a full body compound exercise that makes the organism stronger. Something about wording that way it just clicked in my head, squatting makes your whole body powerful, just turns you into a tank. I've been Squat first ever since. You should obviously do other movements, but not embracing the squat is a mistake
The only people who care about how much you squat are going to be fat people and other pretend powerlifters.
Bench press is still the coolest, most alpha exercise.
>tfw 188 cm
>wingspan is 196 cm
Bench is the hardest to progress in.
t. lmao1.75pl8
Imagine being me, I'm 178 cm tall but my wingspan is 188.
Fellow 75kgger
I'm going to smash that 100kg bench if it cripples me.. It's not like I use my shoulders in real life anyway
i dont care what people care about you Black person
Too bad fat powerlifters dominate there too so you played yourself.
He probably means the real bench press, not the homosexual 2 inch ROM shit powerfatties do.
i prefer zercher squats because i can go a lot deeper on zerchers over back squats but back squats are cool too
>i prefer zercher squats because i can go a lot deeper on zerchers over back squats but back squats are cool too
I prefer your mom because i can go a lot deeper in your mom over your girlfriend, but your girlfriend is cool too
Squat enthusiasts rarely seem to have great physiques. Not always but that seems to typically be the case. It’s not so much the squat itself as the ethos that makes somebody emphasize squats means they usually tend to underemphasize the muscles that actually make you look good: arms upper chest side delts abs etc.
I'd reckon that this is more of a powerlifter issue than anything, because anything that doesn't directly contribute to the big 3 is a "waste of time", because apparently doing 3 sets of curls at the end of a workout will interfere with recovery somehow and ruin their strength gains. Any other demographic that does a lot of squatting looks good because they actually train the rest of their body.
ye I remember crippletoes afwul program and how he says novices will be tempted to add some curls at the end but NO NO NO DON'T DO IT YOU'LL INTERFERE WITH THE IMMACULATE PROGRAMMING
a fricking powershitting program with no base phase just peaking strength for novices and don't forget your gomad lmao
Funnily enough this means that because rippetoe shits on rows there is zero bicep work at all for a good portion of the program (though I think he lets you add chinups later, but I don't know how many people actually do this and chinups are not as good as curls for biceps anyway), I'm not sure why he thinks power cleans are better (also LMAO at making novices learn power cleans) since they aren't remotely the same as rows and will certainly not build the same upper back size and strength or the ability for the lower body to lock into place while the upper body moves a heavy load.
Going on a bit of a tangent here but I wouldn't make novices do barbell rows immediately either, I would actually make the novice do RDLs first because I believe that RDLs are a prerequisite to barbell rows since they give you the strength, mobility, and kinesthetic awareness to use your lower body to hold the positioning needed for barbell rows.
I would have novices do cable rows or dumbell rows lol
Yeah, those aren't bad choices. I'd also add inverted rows and machine rows. Really, I think that barbell rows, while they're a fine exercise, should be for later when you actually have some hamstrings and erectors to speak of so you can do the exercise properly. They work really well as an overall back builder since although they don't hit any part of the back particularly well, there isn't a single part of the back a barbell row doesn't hit, so it's a great way to throw a ton of work at the back as a whole.
i just do 2-3 sets of barbell curls at the end of every workout. i literally do it in the squat rack cuz i dont care
>I'm not sure why he thinks power cleans are better
They're better for full body engagement, coordination, and power. Holding the bent body still is a lot less applicable to sports performance than generating power with the entire body at once, from toes to traps.
>also LMAO at making novices learn power cleans
True lmao
>RDLs are a prerequisite to barbell rows since they give you the strength, mobility, and kinesthetic awareness to use your lower body to hold the positioning needed for barbell rows
Strong agree
SS is intended to build strength in young athletes that will aid their sports performance. Just because it has squats and programs with a different intention (bodybuilding, general strength, power building, whatever) also have squats doesn't mean SS is at all useful to those other ends.
Its not even really a powerlifting issue its more just a beginner strength training fat moron noob issue
most serious powerlifters i know do curls, pullups, tricep isolation, so on so forth
do people here unironically think women care about this past some passing novelty factor?
do people here care about women so much they only do exercises that improve shown muscles?
Like shoulder, neck, trap, and arms only guy?
front squat
overhead squat
Deadlift
ohp
Farmers Walk
>if it's the greatest most manly exercise.
Why am I always watching women do them?
Nice try homosexual, but I didn't just pick up a cute new pair of pumps and want to show of my legs.
Benching is the epitome of weightlifting, and the true measure of a man.
You're watching women do squats at RPE -20, aka moving for the sake of moving. I don't see how bench is the true measure of a man when it's three times easier than squats (seriously, I actually look forward to bench variations in my program because I get to relax despite the fact that I go to failure frequently on them), involves less muscle mass, and is less "functional" (I hate that fricking term but you never lie on your back to do anything in the real world, while squat/hinge motions are much more common). I'd honestly argue that barbell rows would rank higher than bench in this regard since you're hitting more muscle mass (lats, teres major, traps, rhomboids, rear delts, thoracic and lumbar erectors, biceps, brachialis, brachioradialis, finger flexors, glutes, hamstrings) than bench (chest, front delts, lateral and medial heads of the tricep) and they're considerably harder since they're much harder on your cardio and also much more mentally straining due to the urge to cheat with your hips and legs.
Bros I suck at squatting. I can front squat 60-65kgs and high bar back squat 75-80kgs parallel for a few reps. Progressing by weight is hard as I end up half squatting and that is very cringe. Meanwhile my DL is around 120kgs. Should I start using a belt while squatting?
Maybe try pause squats
A knife? A pistol a katana?
>muscle-up
>clean&jerk
>snatch
At least all of those. Unlike squat, what I just mentioned are full body movements, and while squat is great, it will never build as aesthetic and overall strong body as c&j for example.
C&j and snatch are not particularly good developmental exercises because you will get limited by technique far before you hit muscular failure. Plus anyone who isn't an Olympic weightlifter will butcher the frick out of both of those. Muscleups are a bit better but even then the pullup portion is much harder than the dip so you'll hit failure on the pulling portion well before the pressing portion.
No one will get a good clean and jerk without squatting. The accessories that weightlifters do is what makes them strong and aesthetic not the other way around. They don't snatch and c&j to get strong, they do tons of squats, heavy pulls, rdls, pressing movements and core exercises.
>being able to go to the gym without being raped and poisoned
OHP and weighted pull-ups since it filters out wannabe powerlifters and DYELS.
overhead press are the most manliest lift because women suck at it. If you can strict press 2pl8 you have the women's world record, that's why it's such a based lift
after that, weighted pullups come second. Same explanation, women can't really become proficient in the lift, so it's another archetypical male exercise.
In Squats/Deadlifts women can reach ~2/3rds of male strength, so they're not really manly exercises. That and they give you womanly proportions
>In Squats/Deadlifts women can reach ~2/3rds of male strength
So get a 330kg squat and deadlift then kek. Also I don't know what world you're from but there aren't many women that are walking around with enormous quads, adductors, and hamstrings (besides the ones on anavar anyway)
hip thrusting fat chicks
deadlift >squat>bp>curls>ohp
>squats
works quads, glutes, core
>deadlift
works hamstrings, glutes, back, core, traps, forearms and some quads
I can't.
penis in vegana
Squats are for gays and make you spidermode
Squats don't cause you to have small arms, not training your arms causes you to have small arms. Plus spidermode could also be small arms AND legs with a big torso, so squats actually counter that part of spidermode.
Any of the Strongman exclusives
Front squat
i prefer front squat
