Working out in the morning feels better for me, but I still workout at night because I'm a lazy piece of shit

i go to the gym at 4am because i don't like talking to strangers and the only other people at the gym are other super motivated loners who make me feel like i'm part of some secret club of people who actually give a shit.

Used to go to the gym during night time last winter, a few times I went really late and was done by 4am. Most people coming at the time were old people (like really old not boomer) it might have something to do with the fact that it was a commercial gym

Your test is higher in the morning and slowly dips down throughout the day. Morning is GOAT

your protein synthesis peaks and drops before you get to bed where the most important recovery is done. night is best

So? You don't instantly recover after a workout anyway it takes time.

literally the opposite. test is lowest and cortisol is highest in the morning.

No, test is higher in the afternoon.

I lift in the morning anyway because that's when I can use a coffee high. Also I can lift with an empty stomach & bowel (latter thanks to coffee). You cannot defeat this meta.

OP here , do you think your goal I guess would play a factor as well ? Like Ive seen people go in the morning more for weight loss and for gaining muscle evening just because you have a bunch of food already by the time you lift.

      Anonymous

If your goal is either morning is best because of highest test. Having abunch of food in you doesn't benefit your lifting I wouldn't think. It's mostly a factor of how hydrated you are at that point. Just wake up, spend the first hour and a half drinking a shake, taking vitamins right away, and stretching, then go lift or run.

Pretty much. Everyone motivated goes before 8, highschoolers get out at 2, then the boomers shit it up from 5 till 10. Midday is peak ghost town

speaking of boomers, why do they stare so much? and why do deadlifts intimidate them so much?

Yeah when I started I just walked and ate alot less which led to massive weight loss but yeah I looked like sick weight loss. I do want to say I have experience lifting but its sadly been since 2013.

  11. 8 months ago

I go to the gym early in the morning before going to work because i feel more energized to workout and after the workout and there arent so many normies around, so the gym is half empty. Also a big part of it is that i avoid traffic jams because my gym located near the city and its past the usual and worst traffic jam. Frick kids and helicopter parents, just shove them in a bus to hell.

it takes time for breakfast to digest and provide stored energy. plus night is more reliable because if you feel like shit in the morning you can pop some tylonel and drink a cup of coffee before going to the gym and feel great.

morning is the best for cardio though

      holy trips confirm
in some cities some gyms are basically always open I guess so they might be empty very early and very late, but mine does 9-21 so noon is the only time when I can find it empty. I also have a two hours lunch break so it's a perfect fit

Don't know and don't care. I barely have enough time to lift at all so as long as I can get a workout in at some time, I'm happy. I've pulled up to the gym at 5am and 10pm and the only thing that changes is the amount of people in the gym and the amount of caffeine you need to wake up.

  16. 8 months ago

But all the wagies are in their cagies midday. I agree with the general sentiment of the image though; I don't even bother trying to go lift between 3PM-8PM.

late night is gymcel hour, nothing better than pumping iron on a friday or saturday night when everyone else is out boozing and having sex, you combine the manic euphoria of late night activity with the relaxation of it being the end of the work week where you get to sleep in the next day, nothing beats it

The 5 AM crowd is all the lifers who are on autopilot and do this daily. Sometimes they talk, but it's also 5 AM so they're still in zombie mode.

The noon crowd is all the killers who's entire life is staying in shape. They don't talk, it's just business.

The 530-630 crowd is all the depressed Gen Xers who are wage slaves and have no personality.

The 630-after crowd is all the people who are new to the gym / want to chit chat.

The gym I go to is packed at night between 7 - 10pm, but never crowded the rest of the day. For whatever reason this is the time all the blacks and broccoli heads go to hang out. Nights is fine for cardio or specialty machines but forget trying to get a bench or squat rack when there's 6 - 10 zoomers all rotating the same exercise for an hour.

Really early in the morning is the only time I've ever been able to stick to lifting. Later in the day there is way too much risk that I'll be tired and not feel like it and start skipping days, but I always have energy when I wake up

All I know is that people who train before work either have desk jobs, or they aren’t training hard enough.
It would be functionally impossible for me to train before work, and still be able to keep up with the rest of the crew.

Your natural body temperature peaks in the mid-day. It is the optimal time to train in general, though if you want to be precise you could measure your actual body temperature and figure out the exact minute at which you should be doing your top set..
