I got kinda bullied out of going to a gym because all of the thick lifter girls threw shade my way. The nice one who wasn't passively b***hy to me told me not to worry about it they were just mad that I was thin.
I'm now 20lbs heavier and much stronger but if I walked in to that place I'm sure I'd still be unacceptable.

It sounds counterintuitive but if she's already chubby chances are she actually has decent muscle mass underneath. I would recommend introducing CICO to her subtly by simply restricting her caloric intake, and try to get her to work out with you if you can. Calisthenics, cardio and basic compounds will carry her for the first 30-40lbs.
