Is water fasting dangerous?

Im on day 4 of only drinking water zero calories consumed. I am pretty obese 25 years old 5 foot 8 and 220 pounds. Is it safe to do a water fast? I keep seeing mixed results that it will either put me in a very deep ketosis state and mostly visceral fat is burned. But I have also read that lean muscle tissue is burned to create glycogen to stay alive. What do you think?

    after about 3 days of a fast your HGH and other hormones spike up like you're on steroids, to prevent muscle loss. It turns out our body doesn't start wasting away after 2 days without food, who would have thought.

      Not true, that shit is all debunked, Attia, Norton, Rhonda Patrick talk about this in several podcasts.
      Those spikes weren't supraphysiological and can't do shit for anabolism, you need carbs, insulin spikes and positive energy balance to grow, you can't fricking huff air, not eat and expect growth because your hormones spiked.There are a few moments when you start feeling energetic on a fast, but that's the cortisol spike, which tapers down pretty fast and is followed by an absolute shit. And when you eventually deplete your glycogen stores, you will hit ketosis and will feel better, but that is possible only if you fast 3+ days or do some high calorie expenditure shit like laying bricks all day or cycling/ running every day of the fast for a prolonged amount of time. Also try doing sprints in ketosis or some high intesity shit, you'll fricking wish for a rice cake.

      On the other hand, if you can fast for 1-3 days at a time and not gorge yourself on the day after you could incorporate it as a radical method of calorie reduction. Still you need to be in a negative net energy balance when the week is over.
      Just don't expect any of the autophagy/HGH/hormone boosts. It will lower your test, you will be lethargic, but it won't frick you up long term if you don't overdo it. Once a month is ok, take potassium, magnesium and salt do some LISS cardio and expect to feel like shit.

        That's what I'm doing right now, I fast for 24-48 hours then eat less than 1800 calories the day I end it, and I've lost about 12 pounds. If you have more info on this I would like to hear it because it's working for me with little negative effects

    Short fast are amazing, you do not need to fast for long periods of time.
    Even two days shows noticeable improvement.
    Hell even a one day fast weekly improves your insulin resistance overtime and that alone is enough to drastically change your life.

    The optimal strategy is to impregnate left and co-parent with right. As long as you have other options and as a man if you achieve any sort of success and continue to grow it, you will always have options, left turning into right will always lead to total misery for you. If you have a kid with left though and only need to occasionally see right for the kid's sake and you have a nice relationship in that context, life will be good for everyone involved.

    Maintain your electrolytes, primarily:
    > Magnesium
    > Potassium
    > Sodium
    Take a multivitamin and drink some salt water. Don't take too much or they can cause heart problems

    If you are obese you have no muscle to lose. The only thing that matters is whatever gets you to not obese the fastest. Even if it "harms" you it pales in comparison to the harm staying fat does on a daily basis. Figure out what weight gets you to 20% bodyfat. When you hit that you can start worrying about muscle. Recomp from 20% to 15% then do a proper bulk/cut.

    I was about 55 hours into a 72 hour fast and I woke up in the middle of the middle of the night with my heart pounding. Something told me I needed sugar and I stumbled to my fridge to drink a bottle of soda I had leftover and then my heart slowed down. Anyone know what that was?

    Yes it is safe up to 14 days for an obese person, remember fat cells store essential nutrients as well as calories and it starts releasing in ur blood stream after only 24 hours of fasting, ur body should be used to 0 food by now, how ever i recommended restricted feeding windows diet where u eat 2 meals a day at sun riae and sun set as it's easier to do for an extended period of time and it will yield long term results

    I've never fsted for more than 60 hours so can't really comment, but I had no negative consequences of short fasts other than feeling lethargic

      Because once women are past their prime they become automatically less attractive to men than women in their prime, so at that point, why even care?
